Hi
I need to get about $5-$7k in gift cards for a large group trip in June :))

Where can I get the best deal please?

thanks!

It really depends on what you value.

If you are looking for a straight 5% off cash discount, buying them at target with their cc/debit card if the easiest way I know of.

Depending on where you live, many grocery stores do various promos where they will give you money off fuel and or money off groceries. You will have to look at your local ads to see if this applies to you.

I personally value chase UR points so I try to maximize a 5% category combined with an instore promo.

Thanks! I saw it but it such a long thread with info about other type of GC lol

It's still going to be the best place to find your answer. There are posts on the first page with info and then I'd go to the end and read back a page to two to see what new info is there. If you have questions, they are nice and helpful posters. That's where to ask as opposed to starting a new thread asking for info that's already on the board.

Easiest way is Target 5% debit or credit card. With the credit card, you have to pay off the charges (obviously) once you reach your limit before you can charge more.

The question is, though, do you really want to be investing in 5-7K of GCs? What if something happens that you can't go? You will be refunded in the form of payment that you make, in this case, gift cards. There were a few threads where people's DCL cruises were cancelled and they were left with tens of thousands of dollars on Disney GCs.

If you are okay with tying up 5k with Disney (and honestly many of us are because we know the mouse is getting that money one way or another) the best 5% straight is target red card. Now you might do better at Sams club with a high rewards credit card but that depends on what you currently have.

Thank you! I am looking for the cash discount, then it seems that Target could be best :)

I used ************.com
I got about 20% off it takes a few weeks after you pay.
I also strongly suggest getting landrys giftcards
They are awesome if you plan to eat at rainforest , trex or yak and yetti I used giftcardwiki to find the best deals but still mostly used samsclub.com
The average was about 20-30 per person per meal I included the children in the average to account for any overages even though the kids meals were cheaper.

The best deals take time and effort. Following the GC Deals thread will get you the best bang for your buck. Whether it’s cash back bonuses or in-store/online discounts, they have the most comprehensive and current list of Disney GC discounts available.

If you don’t feel like reading that thread for the really good deals, then Target’s 5% off is a quick and easy answer. But you can do much better if you want to make the effort.

I try to pick up a couple Target GCs each month when I'm planning a trip, it's the easiest way to save 5% for me.

I would warn that you should not expect to walk into Target and find $5,000-$7,000 in GCs in one trip. At least in my area, they are sometimes in short supply. In fact, last week they only had the $25 GCss and I refuse to buy those because they are a pain when adding them to Disneygiftcard.com. My minimum is $50, but I really prefer $100 increments.

Also, one other warning…in 2012, over the course of a few months, I purchased over $5,000 in GCs to pay for a cruise and I ended up getting a letter from Target warning me that if I was doing something shady, they would lock my account. I don't know what it was about that time…I think maybe I was buying too many at once. Anyway, that's when I started just buying a couple per month and saving them.

^^ Merchants are wise to those buying large sums of gift cards for sometimes shady reasons. Theft, money laundering, etc. are all things they look out for. Some will limit the amount of daily gift card purchases as well.

Target is the simplest method that I've used and have first hand experience with. It's a hassle for sure for large amounts. If you do it online, I think you can do $500 denominations, max of 3 cards per order. I usually do in-person transactions, I'll do $3-4K at the register with my target debit card and my area targets never have any larger denomination GC than $50 so it's a long transaction and some times it has to be spilt up into multiple transactions. If they had the $100 GC in stock it would make life a lot easier.

Sometimes our grocery stores like Kroger and Giant Eagle run fuel perk specials on gift cards for discounts at their gas pumps. That’s usually the way we buy ours.

Thank you! .. I forgot to mention one detail.. I live overseas so, the gas or grocery discounts are not easy to use later... but still, thank you all for the responses!

That’s what I did too. 1050 for about 890.

I like to get a gift card from Disney with something special on it like Mickey on the beach, a Stormtrooper, Happily Ever After something that you want to use over and over again. I buy the gift cards from Target or BJ's warehouse and combine the cards onto my special cards at the disneygiftcard site. BJ's often have cards in $100 for a discount equal to Target less work combing the cards. This way I'm not loading $1,000 onto some random card that could get confused with the other cards. We don't usually charge to the room but pay with gift cards instead
