Disney Gift Card Website Down?

I’m sorry you’re stuck in this mess @Little E. Your issue shows another reason to not leave gift cards listed on that site. Many posters delete them from the site as soon as we’re done consolidating.
Yes, I always consolidate then delete. I have heard too many stories of funds disappearing that were left on the site. I do have several empty plastic cards around the house that I can use to consolidate the funds to though. I have one I prefer, because it has larger print (and I have older eyes), but they are there if I need them.

@Little E if you don’t have any plastic cards that are not on the website, could you go and buy a minimal value cardboard card and transfer the ecard balances to it using the new account login? If you scratch gently with a quarter, you won’t damage the cardboard card (the one I just bought for my upcoming trip was a cardboard card and I was able to scratch off the grey with no damage before consolidating). That would buy you some time to figure out what is going on with the website while still giving you a physical card to use.

Hi all! @focusondisney This is such good advice...I will never leave cards on my account again. Lesson learned. I am still unable to access my old account, and frankly, I'm too frightened to use the account I set up yesterday. I am so afraid of this happening again. I haven't heard anything from Disney in response to my email beyond the auto reply. And, I've learned you get really crummy customer service from the Disney Gift Card CMs. They are absolutely unable to do anything beyond check a balance. Seriously. I got a hold of a lovely CM in Disney IT...her name was Kimora and she was phenomenal. She actually urged me to call the Disney Gift card number and merge her into the call so she could explain my situation and figure things out. We went through two calls with gift card folks, and Kimora was just as frustrated as I was. She was amazing, and I tried to give her a cast compliment. However there really wasn't a category to match her to on the MDE app. I'm just hoping the "other" category and her name are enough to get her some recognition.

So, long story short, my old account is still a no go, and the five gift cards are still "stuck" in the old account. I have officially stumped Disney IT. I do have a new account with a different email address/password. I haven't been able to find any gift cards that aren't the flimsy cardboard ones. Kimora let me know that they sell the old school plastic cards at Magic Kingdom. So, for now, I have purchased the flimsy Disney gift cards from Target, and I plan to take that fistful of cards and let CMs scratch the grey stuff off as I purchase things.

Thank you all for your kind words and troubleshooting suggestion. You really helped a frustrated gal yesterday!

Given the recent Sam's sale, I grabbed some gift cards and when I attempted to combine them on the website, I also ran into an issue and came here to see if I was the only one. My account pulls up just fine, but it's not allowing me to add any cards. I've also read posts on FB about it. Hopefully they resolve this soon.

@TheGambler22 Oh friend. OP here. I, too, grabbed the Sam's Club cards that were on sale yesterday. I purchased a new gift card that I can consolidate all my online cards on, and went to use the new account I set up earlier after being locked out of my old account. And, lo and behold, I could get in and add my new physical card to my account. However, I could NOT add any of the online cards I purchased from Sam's Club last night. Gah! I feel your pain, and while I'm so sorry you've had trouble, I'm secretly relieved it's not just me being inept.

So, I have decided I am done with the www.disneygiftcard.com website. For good. Which is such a bummer, because I have used that website for almost a decade to consolidate and reload old cards with no problems. And now, I have Disney egift cards and I have no idea how to access them? DH and I tried for almost 20 minutes last night to figure out how to add them to my Apple wallet. All the research we did told us that there should be a button that says "add to Apple wallet" on the egift card, but there was no such button. Not sure how to proceed. I would never have purchased gift cards online had I known this would unfold.

I don’t see an option to add to apple wallet either. I think that’s only if you get a e card from the Shop Disney site. You can still access these ones, it just might not be as convenient. You can show the bar code from your phone or a printed copy of the gc if using in person. You can enter the numbers for things like mobile or online ordering. If you want to pay off a stay before, you can call with the numbers.

I believe you can only add one disney gift card to the apple wallet, and then reload it through the Disney Gift Card Website.

AH, glad it isn't just me.

I grabbed two of the Sam's club discounted cards this morning. Went to add them to my physical gift card and it doesn't want to work for eithe rcard! Won't check the balances either.

Hopefully they resolve the issue soon.

Sorry to hear that this situation is still unresolved. 😥. If one good thing came out of it, you and I and others here have learned a lesson. I have my favorite plastic GC on My Disney GC site. It's the WDW 50th Anniversary Edition. I'm getting it OFF the website now! .... Like as soon as I finish this post! I won't ever leave another GC *saved* on the website! Consolidate and delete! Record the current balance on a piece of paper and attach that to the physical card. Ironically, I keep that physical GC in a fire proof box with other valuable documents..... Never dreamed it's MOST vulnerable ON THE WEBSITE!! Thx for sharing ur story!

I donʻt think itʻs the DG site. I went straight away to deposit my gift cards as dues payments and got errors on my 4 Samʻs Club cards. Tried DGC site next. Still nothing. Sent in my inquiry so hopefully they fix it!

Same here. Account pulls up but it won't let me add or check balances of the Sams Club gift cards. Also checked the Dis store to see if I could purchase anything - same error.

Nothing to do with OP's crappy IT experience but due to some of that chatter it's inspired it's Disney Gift Card Crash Course time!

  • You can buy plastic gift cards direct from Disney, minimum load $25, free shipping
  • Keep every single gift card receipt or copy and a spreadsheet of gift data and where you loaded the gift card. If a card gets frozen by Disney because a suspicion of fraud Disney has 2 layers of unlocking. First, you just verify a couple questions on the phone and they unlock your card within a day or 2. Many of us have been through that one, type a pin in wrong too many times and you can end up there. Second is they demand all receipts for the gift card and loads to the card. That last one is extremely rare but there have been a couple reports and if you can't produce the proofs of purchase you are in for months of misery.
  • Discard every gift card you used after your trip so that if the number was compromised you do not lose your funds in the future.
  • Any refunds go back to to the gc you paid with, whether it's a room, party, merch in park- it goes back on the gc that was used to pay
  • You can only load an e-gift card bought direct from Disney Store to your apple wallet. There is a link in the email to do so. The balance will not update on the card in your apple wallet visually.

Having same issue. Can't check balance with new cards from the Sam's Club deal or add to other gift cards.

I would advise anyone in the Sam's DGC mess to head over to the Disney GC thread. Many others in the same boat. I'm not going to be touching this one. I'm sure it will all sort out but it'll take some time.

I am thinking there is an intentional delay upon activiation. Long ago, I remember there was an issue with repeated attempts locking it and needing to have customer service unlock. So Iʻm taking a break and hopefully it wonʻt be locked.
