Disney Gift card question

I was at Sam's today and noticed they are selling Disney gift cards where you purchase $100 and get $10 in gift cards free. We still have to pay the balance of our trip and DH thought we could use gift cards to do it and suggested we purchase $2,000 in gift cards and get $200 free. Anyone know if you can use Disney gift cards to pay trip balances? It sounds a bit odd to me, but hey, if we could save some money, I would be all about it.

Yes you can use the $2000 in Disney Gift Cards to pay down your trip. That $200 in Disney Store Gift Cards can NOT be used to pay for your trip, but you can use them to pre-purchase theme park merchandise online before your trip from the online Disney Store. This includes lots of stuff including mouse ears, autograph books and more, but it does mean buying them online and having them shipped to you rather than buying them in the parks. Still a good deal.

You can use the Disney Gift Cards for food at WDW. You can't use the $10 bonus Disney Store GCs to pay for food or anything else at WDW. Those can only be used at the Disney Store or Disneystore.com. I purchased $500 worth and used them to call and pay down our cruise. We just purchased $1200 more which is enough to pay off our cruise.
Now we have $170 to use at the Disney Store.

No the bonus cards can not be used there. Only at the Disney stores, and online. We also did this and got 250.00 in bonus cards. I just called and read the gift card #'s to the person and the amounts.

Yes, gift cards can be used in the parks, but these $10 bonus cards from Sams Club can not.

I was all ready to go to Sam's to buy $1,000 worth of these cards for $988.70 and get the $100 in Disney Store Gift Cards too, when the HEB grocery store deal came out.

Since you live in Texas, it may work for you too. Essentially it's 33% off all Disney expenses. I bought $960 in Disney Cards and $320 in HEB gift cards for $960. Grocery store gift cards might as well be cash. The deal expires tonight though.

Yes I live in TX, but a small town. I was given (800) 362-4533 to add on to my gc. Make SURE it is a DISNEY STORE gift card. Just added money yesterday.
