Disney gift card increments

I know gift cards are rechargeable. Last year my travel agent gave me a $25 Disney gift card. I want to recharge it for more than that amount. Will this be impossible to do since it was only $25 on the card in the first place? Can I put $1000 or more on it? I thought there was a $1500 limit on gift cards.

Not sure, but I think if you really want that much money on a card, I'd get a few cards and leave a few in your safe at the hotel just in case. I mean what if you lost that $1500 card??? I'd get a few cards instead.

you can add whatever you want to it up to the maximum total. the initial value doesn't matter

On the WDW web site the highest you can get is $500.00. I don't know if you can recharge one for more than that.

yes, you can. the limit on a card at any time is $1500.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have no real desire to put $1500 on my gift card but want to have more on my card than just $25.
