Hello DISers;

As I am sure you have gathered from the title of this thread, I am a Canadian with a set of questions about Disney Gift Cards. My step sisters are going to WDW over Christmas with their father and I wanted to get them gift cards for spending money while they are there, rather than buying them cash (boring) ...

- I've noticed that these can only be bought at US Disney Stores or shipped to US addresses ... is there a Canadian alternative?

- If there is no Canadian alternative that can be spent while in WDW, is it possible to somehow pay a fellow DISer through PayPal to buy one and then have it shipped up here? Is this frowned upon? Have people done this before?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey there!

You can order a Disney gift card online at http://www.Disneyshopping.com (make sure you get the gift card and not the Disney shopping gift card) or if you want Disney Dollars you can order them through Walt Disney World Ticketing, PO Box 10140, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

HTH :)

I did a quick search for you on ordering Disney Dollars from Canada. Here's an old post:

If you are ordering under $50, WDW can do this over the phone, but this is their max to charge to a credit card. Call the 800 number and listen for the option that gets you to merchandising. This is the info I received from them. If you need more, you have to send a money order in US funds with an extra $10 for shipping and specify your denominations (1,5,10) to:

WDW Ticketing Fulfillment
Attn: Disney Dollars
PO Box 10140
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

I did this before Christmas and with snail mail it worked out to 2 weeks turn around - pretty much all mail being the delay, judging by the postmark. There isn't any other way to get DD in Canada.

That's probably your best bet, although it doesn't hurt if you ask over the phone whether they'll ship a Gift Card to you. None of the websites would allow an order from the US. I have heard of Canadians ordering the gift cards from disneyshopping.com, but then you'll be hit with huge shipping & duties on the order. You might want to call their customer service line to see if you can avoid those on the cards :confused3

Let us know over at the Canadian Board what worked best for you :)

We ordered them off of Disneyshopping.com. We paid by credit card.

Are there duties/taxes on gift cards? I didn't realize that. I usually send gift cards from various US retailers to friends. Whoops

I have not ordered them myself, but from previous posts I was under the impression you paid shipping and duties regardless of how large (ie. package size) the order was :confused3

Actually, I just tried the website and selected 2 gift cards with a Cdn address and no shipping fees came up. Has anyone experieinced delivery? Was there extra duties when the package came to their house?

I ordered six gift cards 10 business days ago. Hopefully they should be here anyday. I also was not charged shipping. I will let you know as soon as they arrive what charges there are on my end.

you shouldnt have to pay any duty or anything because its not goods or a service coming into the country its technically cash. My best friend got me GC for Torrid last year and there was no duty charged.

Hello everyone,

I was confused by the caveat "Will ship to any US address" on the disneyshopping.com site alongside the actual physical cards. I put through my order and I did not have to pay shipping. My total came to $25 dollars.

Sincerely doubt that we'll have to pay duty or anything like that, but if we do it'll still be worth it ... perfect gift, and all!

This is my quote from another thread. If you are ordering from Canada and attempting to have it shipped to Canada contact them right away and cancel your order and request a refund...why? It appears their computer system has a glitch and is happily still taking our money even though they legally cannot.

"Well as some of you know I purchased 6 gift cards on October 26. It was interesting because it was free shipping....here is my advice....
DO NOT....I REPEAT DO NOT PURCHASE GIFT CARDS FROM DISNEYSHOPPING.COM

Sorry for the shouting!
But...I knew this was not over yet!
I received confirmation they were shipped, they charged my cc 400 dollars and I was told to expect therm in ten days. I started to wonder where they were today so I emailed them.
I promptly received an email stating they were never shipped. :confused3
After a long conversation on the phone and a profuse apology from Disneyshopping.com I was told they cannot ship internationally and my only option was for a refund. These were suppose to be from HOHO for the kids for Christmas.
Man o man that was sure disappointing...but it gets better.:thumbsup2 "

As for a followup I just received confirmation by Disney shopping .com regarding my refund and this is what it said.

"Dear Disney Guest:

Thank you for your recent order.

We are very sorry to inform you, due to legal restrictions, the Enterprise Gift Card cannot be shipped internationally. Therefore, we have cancelled this item and issued the $400.00 credit back to your credit card.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."

Needless to say we have resolved this issue by giving them US cash instead!

Bizarre that they'd put international shipping as an option that works if they can't actually do it ...

I think that is where the confusion lies. It gives the impression you can get it by saying that and then reeling you in by not charging you shipping.
