Disney Gift card easily used?

Is the disney gift card able to be used all over the parks,Grand Calif. hotel and DTD easily? even the ODV carts too? I'm thinking of switching to that instead of the dining vouchers that we are doing if it is as I keep hearing that you are limited with them but I don't recall being limited when we used them in '05.

If I recall correctly, I don't remember being able to use anything but cash at ODV carts. But everywhere else, they are easily used. I would pick that over the dining vouchers! We just set aside cash and take a certain amount per day because we know that works "everywhere"!

That is correct... ODV only takes Cash and Meal vouchers... ODV cannot charge to room either... but rumor has it that they will soon be able to take credit cards...

I don't think that the non-disney stores/restaurants in DD take them.

Another good option to do instead of using the dining vouchers is to slowly buy disney dollars over time. Those can be used anywhere and I believe most restaurants in DD take them as well. That way you can still budget your meals and have them paid for already when you get there. The cards are easy to use as well, everywhere takes them inside the parks except the carts and you can use them at the hotels and at the World of Disney store and Marcelines candy shop.

We didn't have a problem using it anywhere, but the ODV carts. It was very helpful and we didn't have to carry as much cash on us.
