Disney gift card/Disney Rewards Card for DDP tips?

Hi everyone,

I will be using the DDP for the first time in September, and I had a question:
I understand the dining plan doesn't cover tips, but would it be possible to use a Disney gift card or Disney Rewards Card to pay for a tip? Like, hand the card to the server and say "Please charge x amount for tip" on it? We will likely be buying drinks as well, so we could also pay for drinks and add the full tip on the receipt, but in case we don't have a drink, can we do this?

You can, but it is usually easier to just let them charge your room and then settle up with guest services at the resort. Takes less time and less likely for any mistakes to be made on what they charge to your card. If you're using gift cards, it also means you don't have to keep up with what's left on each gift card or which gift card has been used.

Yes you can use gift cards to pay your room account but just be sure to stop at your resort's front desk every couple of days to pay of your balance. Disney has, from time to time, put through room charges to the credit card in file well before the resort charging limit is reached. You can also do what you initially asked about and use your gift cards to pay for the gratuity directly at the restaurant. At the end of your meal you will receive a check that shows the actual cost of your meal - even if you are using the dining plan. There will be a place to write in the gratuity amount and you can provide your gift card at that time.
