I was doing target cards too until they discontinued GC to GC. The only I trouble I had with Walmart was finding the denomination of Disney GC I wanted in stock in the store. Just a problem I ran into at my particular store.

I use them all the time. I've never had an issue getting my money...it just takes a very long time.

On the target site, they have email gift cards. How does this work? Do I take them to Disney and ask them to convert the amount on the email to an actual gift cards

If you have a physical plastic card, even an old one, you can use the https://www.disneygiftcard.com/ site and load the plastic card as you primary card, then load the e-card and transfer to the primary card. I always keep a plastic card on hand to transfer e-cards.
