I thought I'd share my experience with what happens when things don't go quite right. I used the online discount sites to buy Target gift cards, then I went to Target's website and placed 3 orders with my Redcard discount - 8 cards, 6 cards, and 1 card. Target shipped through UPS using UPS Mail Innovations, which basically means they transferred them to my local post office for delivery.
The first two orders arrived as expected, but the last card never arrived. UPS recorded it as delivered 3 hours after the other two sets of cards were delivered (which makes no sense -while UPS might make a 2nd delivery in the same day, there is no way my mailman is doing that). I was home at the time and immediately looked for the envelope.
All of this happened on Wednesday. I waited until after mail delivery on Friday afternoon then started looking for what I needed to do. UPS' website said to start with the company you ordered from, so I called Target. The man I spoke to on the phone was ready to reissue immediately, but discovered during the process that gift cards require special handling (not surprising). It was after 4:00 CST by this time, so I wasn't expecting a response until today. I received an email early this morning from Target with a refund in the form of a Target Gift Card. So, now I can go reorder my card.
I saved about $65 total, and everything worked out in the end. This would have annoyed me if I was in a big hurry though, so don't go through this at the last minute!
