Disney Gift Card Deals

So, I bought some Disney gift cards at Target.com to pay off my vacation package. However, I am booked through a travel agent (CAA/AAA), and a CM said all payments go through the TA. Do you think the TA can use Disney GCs to pay off my balance with the WDTC?
I want to buy more GCs this weekend, but feel like I should hold off until I know I can use them like I want. Can I use the GCs at the resort for lodging-related things (so NOT food or souvenirs, but instead some of the amenities that cost extra at Fort Wilderness)?

IIRC it has been mentioned on here that you have to be booked through Disney directly to use GC for payments. Travel agents do not accept GC for payments.

I would check directly with your TA. I got a quote from a Disney authorized agency recently, and she said it was not a problem at all to pay for a reservation through her with gift cards.

It depends on the travel agent-some of them don't actually process your payment-they contact Disney and give them the info to process the payment so if so they would just give the gift card info to their contact at Disney. The travel agent I used recently accepts both gift cards and the DVA for payment since they just contact Disney and pass along the info.

I'm going to step away from this thread for a little while...it's making me anxious:scared:.
I looked at the Target website and saw that they no longer have eBay gift cards AT ALL:scared1:. Sure, this may just be temporary, but it still makes me anxious. Then, I see that GCM is still completely sold out of Target GC's and I am sitting on $450 of my vacation money tied up in eBay gift cards:eek:. That makes me VERY nervous.
Like PP's have mentioned, this could just be temporary, but if I sit and dwell on this and obsess over this thread, I'm going to lose what few marbles I have left:crazy2:.
Right?! Making me nervous too, as I'm on the tail end of my current DL trip(boo, lol!) and need to churn for our Nov trip! I've got $1900 in eBay cards I took my numbers down to bring with in case of a 4x or 5x deal. When the 3x deal came out I hesitated and then they sold out quick. That was fine knowing I'd have cards all ready in case it happened next week. Now this with the eBay cards gone from Target and the whole gcm being out of target cards is nerve wracking, though I really feel it is temporary, too. Wondering, no idea, but didnt they (GCM) have a online store already?
As long as Target still sells eBay GCs in store and accepts GC-for-GC payment, I can live without the extra REDcard discount and Ebates from buying online. GCM selling Target GCs makes the process very convenient (and mostly reliable) for large orders during Bucks bonuses, if only because I have mixed success with buying GS and BB GCs from PPDG. If you're ever "stuck" with eBay GCs and can't get Target, your exit strategy can still be to buy GS or BB and then Disney from those stores.
Yes, I could live without the discs too, but seems like we really need eBay to sell target to churn up those eBay bucks which is the most profitable part for me! I don't think my GS sells Disney cards. But that BB to Sydney just might be a a good strategy! Thx gonna check my GS and BB when i get back. Thanks for sharing that, it's helpful, my thinking cap keeps falling off! Okay I just called two meat me and no Disney gcs(couldn't wait, while I'm waiting for DD to get off BTMRR, lol. So there goes that part. BB is probably still good though.

Wost case scenario, you can just buy the disney gift cards on ebay. There are no authorized sellers selling them but they pop up all the time from individual sellers at face value. Not the ideal scenario but at least you can get the money you need for your trip.
Hmm I was wondering about that. Hopefully they are reputable sellers but that does get you the eBay bucks! Dies anyone else already do this? Dues eBay back you then if they sell you an empty card?

Thanks to those for sharing soMe ideas, takes some of the freak out off a bit!

It depends on the travel agent. My TA took our list of 32 $50 gift card numbers and applied it to our room only reservation last time we went. Fortunately, this time we'll be able to combine them first.

No one has figured out what causes Ebay to target you. You just register for the program like you've done. Some have guessed that you should check the boxes to have them email you promos and offers. But I don't think that matters. I think you can still qualify and you just won't get emailed. I've been targeted for most offers, but not for a couple of them. One time I wasn't targeted, I was sitting on a pile of EBucks waiting to be spent. May be related, may not.

Thank-you for the reply to my question. Sounds like the whole Pin Code game with Disney. All it takes is a bucket of pixie dust! :tinker:

I have over $2k tied up in ebay, about $1k of that is needed for our WDW trip so I can relate...nothing we can do but wait and see how it shakes out...I'm optimistic that it's temporary. I can't see how pulling Target would be a good financial decision. I've long thought Target was getting the short end here but I think eBay and GCM are doing well on this deal but maybe I am missing something.
Yeah, I'm thinking its temporary, too. Seems GCM and eBay would be doing quite well selling these Target cards, and can't see his it'd be a good decision either. I mean seems to me they'd lose a ton of business. Not much need to shop GCM for me if no target cards, and I only occasionally shop eBay other than the cards. I think, like me, lots of people wouldn't shop there anymore and they'd lose lots of business. Seems they could have a real gold mine there if they kept things going.

Does GS sell Disney GC's?
Nope I just called two local stores back home(while waiting for DD on ride at DL, lol and they thought I was crazy and says no. So there goes that part.

I don't see it talked about here but this week there were new PayPal terms and conditions that basically no longer fraud protect buyers or sellers of cash equivalent items (calling out gift cards specifically) when using PayPal. With the linkage between PayPal and EBay - and now finding out GCM in eBay is also run by eBay, this seems all too coincidental for me...especially coupled with the GS response that they are experiencing a lot of fraudulent gift card users...hmmmm...

I was able to use my GC to pay through my travel agent for our February trip. She just asked that I combine my cards online then send her the numbers and she was able to make my payments just fine.

I have bought random gift cards several times on ebay from private sellers. You are completely covered by ebay/paypal buyer protection. When I received the disney cards in the mail, I immediately called to verify the balance and then deposited them into my DVA account.

We are using a TA for the first time this Sept. Our TA takes Disney GC's for our payments. SHe said all payments are processed through Disney's system so any payment Disney can take, she will accept also.

We used GCs to pay for every single thing while we were there. We charged pretty much everything on our magic bands, then went to the front desk at the resort each evening to pay out our balance with my GCs. This worked out great for us. The few things we didn't charge on our magic bands, we just used the cards directly to pay for. We used no other forms of payment our entire trip. I would imagine there may be some places that don't accept GCs as payment. I'm sure someone more experienced can comment on that, as I've only been once and I don't know much about that.
