Disney Gift Card Deals

I just went to target and bought disney GCs using the redcard and it took the 5% off.

Yes...you'll get the 5% off using your red card. What they were arguing (and what is true) is that you won't get the 5% off if you're buying the Disney gift card using a Target gift card. You'll only get 5% off of whatever is actually charged to your red card. There used to be a way around this by buying the Disney gift cards online, selecting the red card as your payment, but then paying with Target gift cards. It would take the 5% off because it factored in the discount before your payment was complete. I don't think that works anymore though.

It works now and has been fixed on target.com.

One of my favorite Disney Bloggers,(Disney Tourist Blog) just posted on his Facebook Page in detail, how to save money on Disney Giftcards. Including Target Redcard and ebay ebucks. Not to sound stupid or naive, but how many people actually talk about the ebay churning method and how to do it? I learned by reading this post and all you guys' helpful advice.....didn't realize there might be people outside our bubble and love of Disney that do it too. Now, just hoping one of the coupon bloggers doesn't pick it up too!

I'm pretty sure this churning is on its last legs...just look at the number of posts on this thread in the last month. Way more than it used to be...oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Target.com hasn't been selling any Disney gift cards for weeks now. I check almost every day...but I'm sure they've caught on to this loophole since they aren't selling the cards online anymore.

Well good for Tom, I guess. That post should significantly increase his web traffic and click through rate.

The optimal, mostly risk-free stratagies have been getting curtailed, so maybe he figured better to get the attention and capitalize on the knowledge now before any more shoes drop out of the process.

There are plenty of popular blogs and websites that have been talking/teaching about gift card churning for years. This isn't an exclusive to Disney thing, the info for anyone is out there. If some new people learn how to save money on their Disney trips, good for them. This isn't a special club for only "seasoned" DISers.

I did a quick google search out of curiosity, trying to figure out a trip to Norway for 2018 and am not finding ways to start churning for it in the way it's done for disney gc.

I only looked at the first page of stuff but most of them are churning to earn miles or meet spending goals on credit cards to churn those or maximize their rewards. One lady did 38k in manufactured spending in 1 week! She used her reward credit card to buy visa gift cards that act like debit cards and then use those to buy money orders to either pay her bill in branch or deposit into her bank presumably to then pay her credit card online. That a lot to do but I guess whatever works for people. Though the churning in this thread somehow seems a bit safer to me.

I didn't mean for trips, I meant gift card churning in general for shopping, food, gas etc. The very first message board I ever joined 10 years ago was a shopping deals site. I can tell you that gift card churning is nothing new, its been being done for a long time. I get why people are worried that more people doing it may mean it will go away, but doing it isn't really a secret.

I agree with you. It's not a secret. I read about it on slickdeals years ago. Just never saw anyone doing it for a Disney trip and it seemed like way too much work just to offset my gas cost lol. But yeah, so many more people doing it. It's been brought down to a level that is reaching more people. So that does worry me. I'll simply enjoy it while it lasts. Not much else you can do.

Has anyone had Target go past the 4 hour window for delivering ebay gc's but still have it go through? I ordered 5 hours ago and still nothing....how do you know if your order gets cancelled?

Yes. I placed an order the day of the bucks offer from Target for Ebay cards. I took about 4.5 hours. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get the eBay cards in time to get the bucks offer.

I have not seen or heard of this site (I live in a DIS bubble) so went to check it out. I thought the below quote from the site was interesting.

"More importantly (for me, at least), I’ve heard stories of people being blacklisted from certain online retailers as a result of “manipulating” the cashback portals for their gift card purchase rackets."

if really need disney gift cards can just do target > ebay > best buy > disney gift card.

still get the 5% red card and 2 portal uses.

A friend of mine in CT said her BJ's Wholesale Club sells 4 packs of $25 Disney gift cards for 20% off. She didn't mention if this was a limited time promo, or the regular retail price. The closest I found at my local DE club was a three pack of $50 cards for $146.99 or a $25 card for $23.99. Anyone else had experience with good deals on the gift cards themselves? I would prefer not to use my Red Card.

The airline portal that I wish to use does not allow gift cards purchases on Best Buy. Which portal do you use for BB 3rd party gift cards?

I have never seen $100 packs of Disney cards for $80 at my BJs. BJ's online has $100 cards for $95 so its only 5% offbut shipping kills that.

I know this process is very fluid and complicated, and I am all for helping others and assisting new people where needed. But, I can't help but be nervous for people reading Tom's post that will jump right into it with no clue! These are the people that will say "Hey Ebates, where's my cash back, I bought $2,000 in gift cards and a 25 cent ruler!?!?!"
