Disney Gift Card Deals

Wel, it seems as though Target caught on to our bargain and stopped the 5% Paypal savings. So, for those that got the extra 5% savings, consider it a "magical savings" and we'll all have to be happy for the regular 5% we get with the credit card/red card. Every little bit helped in adding to our savings for this trip. I anticipate my total trip savings to be $650 from buying the discounted Target gift cards and then using the red card to buy the Disney gift cards. I also used topcashback to save a little additional money and, of course, my Disney credit card. That is a huge savings for our family; I am very excited.

Thank you to everyone for all of the tips and tricks to save money!
I'm also hoping they get them back in stock. I opened a Citibank thank you card for my wife and I (two accounts) to buy gift cards and get 5% off through target. $500 bonus (gift cards) after first $3,000. We plan on spending $6000 in cards. Fingers crossed can still buy online with 5% off

I want to buy Target GC's on Cardpool so that I can buy Disney GC's to renew our Annual Passes. However, I only have about a month before the passes expire. Here are my questions:

1. If I buy ~$1500 of Target GC's and the Disney ones are NOT back in stock in time...can I use the physical Target GC's in my local Target store to buy Disney GC's? I don't know what the Target policy is about buying GC's with a Target GC in store.

I realize I would not get my 5% Red Card discount if I were to go into the store to use the gift cards, but I'd still save 7% on Cardpool.

Edit...just found the answer to this in another thread. The answer is "Yes!"

2. Once (if?) the Disney GC's are back in stock on Target.com, is there always a "feeding frenzy" of people buying them, orders getting cancelled, etc? Or was this recent event a fluke because of the PayPal promotion?

I'm a little wary of buying such a huge amount of Target GCs on Cardpool. I've used them before with no problem, but this is a lot of money!

I knew the online gift cards go in and out of stock but I don't know with how much frequency. Personally, I can't bring myself to purchase the gift cards for the extra rebate because my budget doesn't have the extra room on the extremely off chance I can't convert them into Disney gift cards. I just stick with 5% with the Red Card for my peace of mind.

You can use the Target gift cards to buy Disney gift cards. They were considered "entertainment cards" so there is not usually an issue. Maybe try it with a small amount gift card just to be sure though because that can always change.

The gift cards usually go out of stock whenever there is a really good deal (like the PayPal deal or Black Friday or a promotion on Raise...). Otherwise, I've bought several orders of gift cards without issue. (Sometimes hundreds of dollars worth, sometimes $1000+ worth). You'll have to break it up into several orders because they limit the amount of gift cards you can purchase at one time when ordering online but it's never been a problem to order back to back orders. :)

There are currently 243 pages of posts in this thread, so please forgive me for my ignorance...

My WDW trip in November is essentially paid for (a gift from my parents) and it includes a DDP. It's the first time I've been there as an adult with my own children. So I'm studying up on all things Disney and have learned that I should budget for gratuities for TS meals and OOP snack expenses (especially since I have teenage boys). Now, from what I can tell in this thread, I can buy Disney GCs using certain money saving methods - and these GCs can be used throughout WDW. Did I get this right?

Would someone be willing to reply with a simple summary of how to get the best deal on Disney GCs? I've never even heard of some of these things I am reading about, but I'm very excited to learn and SAVE! Thank you in advance!

There are 2 steps to getting the best discount on Disney GCs.
  1. Obtain Target GCs at a discount. Always use a rewards CC to make the purchase.
  2. Use Target GCs online in conjunction with the REDCard discount to purchase Disney GCs.
Step #2 is pretty straightforward. Step #1 can be done via a number of different methods. You can purchase Target GCs from a website that resell GCs for less than face value. Or you can get them at a local store that offers $-off on your next purchase, fuel perks or other incentive that saves you money. You can also participate in rewards programs that award points which can be redeemed for Target GCs.

People report saving anywhere between 8%-20% off of the face value of the Disney GCs by using the above methods.

I have over $1000 worth of Target gift codes I need to use! So I have exhausted everything I can get from Topcashback, I think, and Ebates does not give credit on gift card purchases; is anyone using another good site for additional savings when you buy through Raise.com or other sites?

I could find a million things at Target to purchase.... :daisy:

Oh, I can. If I had to. I just don't have a Target right where I live, I have one about 40-45 minutes away. But I go to Chattanooga a few times a month so it would not be an issue. I just want to use these cards I have right now for Disney Gift Cards.

Does anyone know of any other stores, physical or online that you can buy a Disney card with a their gift card?

Swagbucks gives points for purchasing on raise. I think it's only 1 point per dollar.

I go through mypoints.com when I buy the disney gift cards at target.com with my target gift cards. Again it's only 1 point per dollar, but i get the credit every time.

Here's another question..,

Does anyone know if you can pay off your red card with a gift card? Example I bought things at kohls instead of sending them a check went in store to pay off balance. Does target allow that? And can you use a gift card to do it?

No, you cannot pay off your REDCard balance with a GC, However, you can take cash or a check into the store and pay your card off at guest services.

Interesting about Costco.

To clarify for others, you can pay for DL Room Only charges in person at the hotel front desk. You can't pay pre-arrival with giftcards, nor use DVA either in advance or at the hotel. I think that's what you meant FlightBos.

Yes, you can use those Disney gift cards through WDW :) Or you can charge your purchases and restaurant gratuities back to the room with your MagicBands, then stop at the front desk of your resort to pay off your room charges with the gift cards. That way you don't have to carry the gift cards around the parks.

Shopathome.com

Momto4obkids - how does the mypoints.com purchase work? I went to their site, but I don't understand how that links you to target.com to buy the disney gift cards with target gift cards.
Thank you

See! It's little tidbits like this that makes me keep checking this thread. I had never thought about doing this! Not only does it help save 5% even on tips, but now I don't have to worry about carrying around cash. Love this idea!
