I was at the grocery store today. I was getting some plums and noticed donald was on the label and it said Disney Garden. Does Disney sell produce????

Partnerships bring Imagination Farms closer to its goal

With the mission to increase consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables among children, Indianapolis-based Imagination Farms has taken significant positive steps in that direction with two recently announced partnerships with prominent fruit producers.

In the first alliance, Imagination Farms joined with Ito Packing Inc. in Reedley, CA, to market stone fruit and blueberries under the "Disney Garden" brand. The items were the first fresh produce products to carry the brand.

Craig Ito, president of Ito Packing, said in a statement, "It's great to be the first company to roll out 'Disney Garden' products at retail. The excitement at the retail level has been impressive, and we are happy to help introduce consumers to this high-quality, wholesome brand with a full assortment of stone fruit."

Imagination Farms Chief Executive Officer Matthew Caito said that "Disney Garden" products are supported by unique, consumer- friendly packaging, price cards, headers and display-ready cartons for retail. Retailers will have the tools to fully merchandise "Disney Garden" products through customized point-of-sale pieces that can be used to create inviting displays featuring characters such as Buzz Lightyear on UFO Peach headers and Mickey & Friends on stone fruit packaging.

"We are very excited and proud to have out first packages ship this week," Mr. Caito said in a June 15 release. "Ito Packing is an outstanding company and a leader in the stone fruit category. Our efforts with Ito and Disney, along with other produce suppliers, are now bringing an outstanding and innovative program to market. Disney Garden is set to educate and animate the produce department with products designed for children and their families."

Disney Garden stone fruit products packed and sold by Ito will include a variety of sizes of peaches, plums, nectarines, Pluots, California cherries and California blueberries. They will be packaged in clamshells, poly bags and cartons with PLU stickers featuring Disney characters and themes.

Consumers are able to access additional health and nutritional education as well as promotions featuring Disney prizes that will be featured on Imagination Farms' educational web site at imagination-farms.com.

In a separate announcement, Imagination Farms has joined with Crunch Pak LLC in Cashmere, WA, which will supply a variety of fresh-cut sliced apple products with Disney Garden packaging. "We are pleased to be part of such an important consumer initiative," Tony Freytag, director of marketing for Crunch Pak, said in a statement. "The opportunity to help introduce children to healthier food choices, like our sliced apples, and the opportunity to educate them about the importance of eating more fruit make this partnership a great fit."

Crunch Pak is a leading producer of fresh-cut conventional and organic apple slices sold under the "Crunch Pak" and "Earthbound Farm" labels.

"Crunch Pak is a leader in the sliced apple category. They have an excellent team behind their quality products and programs," Mr. Caito said in a statement. "Sliced apples are an important and exciting 'fun' category for children. This is a natural fit for our mission to get more fresh produce to a wider audience of children." "Disney Garden" branded sliced apples will be available in both sweet red apples and tart green apples packed and sold by Crunch Pak. Consumer packs will be available in 14-ounce bags featuring "Mickey & Friends" characters. Lunchbox packs in kid- friendly 2.8-ounce sizes and 14-ounce clamshell packs will feature characters from the Disney/PIXAR movie "The Incredibles." All items will be available year round.
