Our weather has been unusually cold this year, and the low last night was 29 degrees, does anyone know what Disney does with all their plants overnight? How do they protect them? :confused3
I know my plants like the elephant ears and hisbicus look horrible right now.

We have been at Disney in freeze temps,,the plants wilt and some die,,they have no way to protect them. But they do replace them really quick.

It has been years since I was in Florida during the middle of winter and I was wondering, do the trees drop their leaves in Florida over the winter?

I know the palm trees and palmettos wouldn't, but what about oak? Just curious, as I plan to start going out and get more firewood for next winter and it kind of made me stop and ponder !

Oaks and cypress drop their leaves. Its not a beautiful "fall" though, The new leaves do have a pretty green when they sprout!

Epcot had white protective cloth over the flowers. If you used your imagination, it looked like snow banks in the flowerbeds!!

I remember back in 1989 when WDW suffered a terrible freeze. A huge amount of the foliage at the Poly was destroyed. Friends of our that owned a tropical tree farm made a lot of $$ off of Disney that year.

Unfortunately for me they do. I have 9 oaks here. This year I got smart and bought a lawn vacuum thingy so we don't have to rake leaves for a month.:yay:

Same thing at DTD today when we were there.

Water your plants. The water keeps them from freezing.. Sounds wrong but it works.

We have Live Oaks and they drop their leaves. It's a mess. As far as Cypress trees anyone who stays in Cypress Bend (Loop 300) in the fall and winter know they drop their "leaves" and make a staining mess if they get damp. We have a white 10 x 10 canopy that we use for both business (we vend at dog shows) and for camping to keep the bikes dry and put over the picnic table. It is forever stained by the Cypress trees. I love Loop 300, but in the fall and winter I think I'll splurge and go with Loops 400 or 500.
