How is the park for plus size people? Can they get on rides, or they're built for just regular people...
Waiting for responces on the weight question???
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Disney is very plus-size friendly. You can ride almost all the rides. I do know there was a big discussion on this. If you do a search a lot of info will pop up.

:thumbsup2

You will be fine. I am plus size as well and I had no problems riding the rides that I wanted to go on. Relax and enjoy your self.

Also, check out allearsnet.com for more info. They have photos of the ride seats and tips. It should ease your mind.

Have a good time.

I am a supersize woman and I love Disney. It is the one place I go and feel completely comfortable. There are very few things that I don't usually do, but you should have no problem and completely be able to enjoy yourself. :cloud9:

i'm formerly plus-sized now, but in 2003 i was well over 300 lbs, and had little trouble at wdw-i even managed to squeeze into the seat at space mountain. the only ride i remember having trouble with was the haunted mansion. the bar came down, but wouldn't lock b/c of my tummy.

Do a search on "Pooh Sized" and you'll find more information than you could ever digest.

WDW is very friendly for everyone. :thumbsup2

I am Pooh sized (6'4" and 390) and have little to no trouble at Disney. The plane ride there is another story though.

Like others have mentioned, go to allearsnet.com for some good tips. One of the best tips to remember is when getting into a seat on a ride with seat belts, pull the belt out before sitting down, it makes it much easier to get belted in!!

No worries! WDW is very size friendly.

The turnstiles are a little tight at MK. If you don't feel like going through them, just walk right through the stroller gate. You don't need to ask anyone, just go right in.

I did find the seatbelt on Kali River Rapids was too small when I tried to ride with my goddaughter. That was easily remedied by having her move over a seat and sitting by myself.

Seats in Sounds Dangerous are kind of tight. I find it's easier to sit on the front of the seat and slide back in rather than trying to come in over the seat arms. Seats are also narrow in MuppetVision, but they have benches in the back that are very comfy.

Hope you have a great time!

Thanks for all the info... I am uneasey of the weight thing and this makes me feel allot better. My concern now is the flight... But i'm glad I should be ok in Disney...
Again, thanks for all the help, and if you have anything else you'd like to share, send it on...

My DH has never had a problem

This info really sets my mind at ease too! I have been pondering where to find the info too! I am down 30ish pounds since Dec 05 and I am hoping to make another 30ish before we go, but it's good to know just in case I don't reach my goal before that! Thanks!

One other thing: I know that Pooh-sized folks often have body-image issues (well, I guess everyone does ;) ) but at the Disney Resort pools and water parks you can find people of every size and shape having a great time....

If you're worried about the plane ride, then get yourself two seats! I was really worried about that for our flight on SWA in June, and the more research I did about it, the more worried I got. :guilty: Buying that extra seat bought me some peace of mind. If it turns out that the flight isn't full, SW will refund the money. :thumbsup2

I know that are threads here on the DISboard about the subject and also on www.allearsnet.com. But put your mind at ease. I am a plus size but when we went in '04 I rode on everything. I love thrill rides and I rode kiddie rides and I had no problem. I never felt particularly self-conscious when I was at the pool or visiting the water parks. I have always had a bigger problem with airline seats. When we went on vacation last year I felt like I was holding my shoulders in (crunched) all the way so I wouldn't violate someone else's space. Of course, they were not so considerate.

I'm going to see if my weight loss will make a difference this year. I have lost over 40 pounds and have about 80 to go.

Um, well, okay - AFTER you insert your ticket in the reader, of course! :teeth:

For the flight, will you be sitting with a family member? If so...you'll be fine as you can simply put the armrest up between you. I often have my dd sit next to me since she is so tiny- thus giving me a bit more space. When I travel with just my husband, we squish against each other....but it's just against my husband so I don't really worry about it. BTW- I will often discretly ask for a seatbelt extension from the flight attendant standing at the back of the plane. They are very discrete, but I have also observed that noone much seems to care or be paying attention to my request (except the flight attendant to passes it to me). As for the tray, I will often just not use it or put a drink on my husbands/dd's tray (or use the middle seat's tray if it is empty) to avoid that "tight" feeling in front of me.

When you go online to choose your seats, look for seats towards the back of the plane and if it isn't too full (you can choose your tickets on some flights within 24 hours) choose a window and an aisle with the middle seat empty. If it get's filled at the last minute, you can always offer to hve one of you move over from the window to the middle, giving the stranger the window seat (They'll jump at it!). I suppose you could do the same thing on SWA, when you board...just choose the window/aisle combo...if the flight isn't full- noone else will choose the "tight" seats.

I'm so glad to hear you've lost all that weight. I wish I could say the same thing. Since we've started planning this it's been in the plan to loose weight also and I'm just not a get it lost kind of person. I have no patience and now i'm going to disney the same way... You still have some time, keep it up. Your doing great. Like I said I wish I could say the same for me.
You go girl!!!

I meant the ones at the attractions!

The main gate ones are usually fine. Otherwise, yes, just go through the stroller gates.

DH and I were Pooh sized in '01 and are even more so now. We did not have any problems during that trip and had a great time! This year I'm a bit concerned about EE, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the Muppet Vision bench tip!
