I always wanted to try the Afternoon tea at the GF! How was it and would you recommend it? I never seem to hear or see much about it - looking forward to your reply. :)

Hi everyone! I am coming in need of your advice!! :worship: :worship: I hope this will be an ok place to ask.

We are arriving at an earlier time than anticipated Dec 13th. (touch down at 11am) So I think we will be touring the monorail resorts to see the Christmas decore.

That being said, We will be in need of a great meal! :) DH, DS 4 and dd 3. I made all my other res but that day is booked. I mainly was thinking (in order) dinner at Chef Mickeys, 1900 Park Fare, CRT, LTT. However, booked solid. Have been calling a week straight.

So what other options that would make for a great first meal at DW? We were hoping to see the Osborne lights after dinner (6ish) and we have base tickets only. I already have res further in the trip for CP with Pooh, and Hollywood and Vine with Jojo and Little Einsteins. So......... now what? lol Any ideas or suggestions? Even Quick Service meals... something along our way..doesn't matter. Just need a back up plan.

I just needed to come on here and say I GOT RESERVATIONS FOR 1900 PARK FARE at 445 on the 13th. SOOOOO excited! My lil Princess is going to be SO excited! Now, I will order a cinderella castle birthday cake for her and ds (she is turning 3, ds is turning 4 and they both saw a pic of the cake and ds said COOOOL! Im not certain that is the best adjective..but that is his new found word). Anyway, SO excited! I wanted that or Chef Mickeys...whichever came first. So YAY!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

I am not the OP of those pictures but I had the pork chop in August and it was AMAZING. Very moist, not tough at all. Yes, those are very, very thin fried onions. It was an absolutely delicious dish!

Is it just me or does the bread look smaller? This is a pic from our May '08 dinner at Kona -
Bread.jpg

If the bread has gotten smaller our server will be kept busy bringing bread to our table in a couple of months, :lmao: . My MIL/FIL are going to be joining us and that woman can put away the bread and I don't want to draw back a bloody stump if I reach for some bread!!!

Here are some other Kona Cafe pic frpom May '08-

This swan has go to be the cutest thing I've ever seen.:thumbsup2 But is it as yummy as it is nice to look at?

My other half says it was delicious, it had a raspberry filling if I recall correctly. I went for the chocolate strawberry and chocolate eclair and regretted it, they weren't as good as I was expecting.

Whilst I don't do tea (I had coffee), it was a pleasant way to spend an hour in the afternoon and for what we got, I thought it was reasonable value. Ruth on the other hand loved it and keeps asking if we can fit it in again in December. The only other comment I would make is that I did feel under dressed for the occasion in my shorts & T shirt.

I have been going to Disney World forever but have never tried Kona or the GF tea, I am looking forward to trying them. The GF tea I guess I might have to go by myself, I have 2 boys and DH would not go. But I will find a way.

I have seen plenty of men and boys at the tea. This is a regular stop for me. I can't go to Disney and miss my afternoon tea. Take a look at the menu :http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.ID=305

They do have some more "manly" options.

See if they would like to do it. Use a little "Mom" guilt ;).

This was the first meal of our trip and we were both disappointed with Le Cellier, the duck and the steaks were very salty. We have an ADR for December, hopefully it will be back to it's usual standard.
