Our first ever trip to WDW (me, hubs, 13 yo daughter). Yes, the trip is an amazing treat and special in and of itself. But...looking to do just a little something extra that doesn't break the bank. Daughter is way more sweets and food focused than stuff focused. So...my ideas are all over the place. Your experience, recommendations?
(AKL Jambo, Dec 16-22, MVMCP 12/21 last night).

Option 1:
Disney Family Treats Tote, $110 with personalization

(with maybe the addition of a fleece blanket, an additional $50)

Option 2:
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Disney - Adult, $143 with personalization

Option 3:
Discover Disney Magic, $195 with personalization

(love the backpack to use in the parks)

Option 4:
Holiday Dessert party (or another dessert party?), estimate $180 for the 3 of us.
Because...sweets. But is this worth it?

Option 5:
Nuthin'. Because, Hello, We're at Disney World!

Mickey Ears...thinking about adding them to any package, with personalization. But really do I need to spend $60+ for one photo op?

Nuthin in room! You are going to be running here and there and going at top speed. Having Disney do anything like this for you means that you are paying top dollar and they can't put it in your room ahead of your check in.

If you want to do something I'd go for a dessert party or maybe a special treat in the park or a special meal experience. From your description I'm thinking a dessert party would give you the biggest bang for your buck and leave you with a great memory.

Good luck and have a great trip.

I booked the Fireworks Holiday Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing for our last night with MVMCP. I'm gonna go with AYCE desserts plus not-as-crowded-fireworks viewing will make for a fantastic way to end our trip.

The stress of trying to plan a "practically perfect in every way" trip might just be the end of me.

What are the magic glasses for fireworks viewing? And can you get those in the park, do they come with the dessert party or are they even worth it?

We’ve done the family treat tote and my daughter (13) loved it. We typically go straight to the parks and the tote is waiting in the room when we return. It’s a great source of snacks to have thought the trip. We’ve used the tote quite a bit too.

I would do a dessert party. If your daughter likes Star Wars at all, do the one at HS. You’ll get to see stormtroopers, the food is actually good, fun atmosphere, and great fireworks view. If she likes Frozen, then the Epcot one is good, since you get to ride the Frozenride after the fireworks. Magic Kingdom’s has a great view of the fireworks if you do the Plaza Garden, but the desserts and atmosphere are lacking. For my DD17, she would pick the Star Wars one every time.

As PP noted, the gifts won’t be in your room when you arrive, which has kept me from ordering anything in the past

We have done the desert parties and Disney Florist deliver special items as well. One thing that I had delivered is a string backpack stuffed with her favorite treats and had it embroidered with her name. She still uses it and loves it!

When DD was 13 her favorite was the desert parties, she loved the unlimited treats! Favorite was the Desert Party at HS and Illuminations.

The MVMCP dessert party sounds great! My mom and I did the Wishes Dessert Party in February as a special thing for us, and it was really great! We did the Terrace viewing, but if I were to do it again, I'd do the Plaza Viewing. And I would do it again, especially if I was with my husband and step son next time. Enjoy and have fun!

I wouldn't do any of the in-room options. We've done them and they are just not worth it, IMHO. I would much rather spend my money on things I actually want to eat around the resorts and parks than get a bunch of snacks in a bag in my room.

There are SO many special snacks and desserts in the parks over the holidays. EP will have holiday food booths and they just released some info on the special holiday desserts at DHS as well. Maybe take a look at what they are offering and put together a little food tour together for yourselves? Last December, DS9 and I did a resort tour to take a look at the holiday decorations at the MK resorts and had a snack or meal at each of the resorts. Perhaps take your daughter to GF to see the tree and buy something from the gingerbread house? Some of the resorts offer decorate your own cupcakes and cookies during the holidays as well.

As far as the dessert parties, we enjoy them, but I wouldn't do the one during MVMCP. They will be handing out SO many snacks during the party and there will be plenty of spots to see the fireworks that evening. I would consider doing the Jingle Bam party, HEA party or the Frozen party at EP instead. I think the desserts plus the premier spot to view the shows are more worth the cost than the disney florist items.

You might also want to consider Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise - it's super fun and the dessert buffet spread is gigantic!

Very much agree with @DisneyWishes14.

I would NOT do a dessert party during MVMCP - it’s such a time suck of precious party hours, it’s not needed in terms of securing a spot to watch the fireworks, and there are already ‘free’ cookies and such handed out throuought the park anyway.

In a lapse of planning, I did the dessert party during MNSSHP earlier this year and it really wasn’t worth it at all, in my humble opinion.

I otherwise am a big fan of the other dessert parties - HEA, the other parks, etc. Those are unique experiences plus offer secured viewing, which is always nice.

I’ve done in-room celebrations before.... and while we enjoyed them, I really only find it ‘worth it’ for a big milestone celebration... and even then the cost for many of their packages is pretty obnoxious.

Hope y’all have fun, whatever you do!

You could save a little money and just do a special cake at a meal instead of the dessert party. Custom cakes can be done much cheaper than $180 and the surprise factor when they deliver to a meal is always lots of fun.

I'd spend the money on a special meal - Boma is our FAVORITE! Tusker House character breakfast is a REALLY great one for all ages and the breakfast buffet is very similar to Boma. Or since your daughter loves sweets, maybe share snacks in the park that you wouldn't normally splurge on.

Thank you for your review! I just ordered this for my DD. We’re celebrating her 20th bday on our thanksgiving trip and this will take it over the top as an extra special surprise .
