After reading through many posts, I've found MANY great ideas when going with small children!! One of them is to bring a flashlight on the dark rides. I would be careful with the flashlight on the dark rides. Some of the theming is not supposed to be seen with regular light and it could throw off the ride.

We have been on Haunted Mansion when it was stopped because someone in a car in front of us had a flashlight and they were shining it everywhere. They took the flashlight from them and I would guess they didn't get it back.

I wouldn't bring a flashlight, how about one of those spinning toys they sell that lights up? Anything to make them think of something else so they forget being scared. It worked for my kids.

Those are cute.

We always hook a small flashlight on my boys' beltloops. They only use them in dark hallways, etc - they know not to shine them around during the rides.

Sorry, I didin't mean for it to be used to flashed everywhere and be distracting on a ride. (like haunted mansion, small world ect.) Not really what I ment by that...

Thanks for the link - we have a similar Buzz flashlight and it's great! We're also bringing flashlights too as both my kids have issues with the dark (we'll keep a close eye during rides so as not to disturb the effect). Another great suggestion I found here were to use the glow sticks - they have a more subtle light effect and can be worn as a bracelet or necklace so I don't have to worry about my kids leaving them behind or dropping them.

I've got the Pooh version and I wouldn't consider this a small flashlight. I wouldn't want to carry that around the parks all day. I've got really small flashlights for my kids for scary rides. Like a very small keychain squeeze flashlight. BUT my kids have never wanted to ride anything they thought were too scary so we've actually never used them.

OH, I found mine at Walmart but they only had Pooh and Princess ones.
