Has anyone taken one of the fishing trips offered at the Disney marinas? I was thinking of surprising my DH on our upcoming trip with one of these outings. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice/ recommendations regarding this...

BTW, DH Loves fishing. He does fish pretty often here at home (we have 3 ponds). Are the WDW trips interesting enough for him to consider them different and fun?

TIA for any information! :goodvibes

My mother and I gave my husband and my father a fishing excursion for their birthdays over our Christmas/New Years trip (they have birthdays of 12/23 and 12/27). They really enjoyed it! They caught about 30-35 fish in their 2 hour excursion. Their guide's name was Dave and they highly recommend him. When they got back to the docks at Ft. Wilderness and were chatting with 2 other groups coming back they found they had caught more than twice what these other groups did and my father is convinced that this is because Dave was very knowledgeable and knew where to be when. He said Dave could explain WHY they didn't want to fish "over there" till after 9:00 etc. Dave even took a bunch of photos of them with his personal camera and took the time to edit them and email them to us from his home email address. He was one of 3 CMs we encountered on that trip that I took the time to write to WDW guest communications to compliment specifically.

Dad has said he's not sure if he would want to do it again only b/c the price was sorta steep for 2 hours of fishing but my husband is all set to go again this year! Dad has said he'd do it if we found somone to split the trip with but he's not completely sure if he would plan it again. I say, if we are there and say "hey Dad...wanna fish?" he's not going to turn it down. ;)

My husband has even said he wouldn't mind bringing our 5 year old son. He's taken him fishing at lakes near home and they have great fun together. DH thinks the WDW excursion would be perfect for a father/son trip b/c the guide is there to help too and the fish strike often enough that our son wouldn't be getting bored.

:wave2: Thanks for the wonderful information! I'm so glad to hear that your guys had such a great time! I was planning on sending DH and our 2DS's, but now I'm thinking about going along as well.

Thanks for letting me know about Dave. That's great info to have.

Again, thanks for taking the time to answer! :flower:

DH & I went on one of these for our honeymoon in Nov 2000. We left at 7am from the Boardwalk. I would highly suggest an early trip from here. We got to go into the middle of world showcase lagoon to fish! My DH also loves fishing, I've never gone, but I really did enjoy this, and once our DDs are older, we plan on taking them along as well. It was 2 hrs and $160 but since we caught no fish (time of year, and really cold that year) and guide only caught 1, he charged us half price. Still worth it and fun though.
