Disney First Timer

My family of 6 is going to Disney in Dec. We will be there from Dec 14 til Dec 22. I realize its the busiest time of year but well we dont care.

We are flying from Pittsburgh...5 adults 1 child (will be 11 then). One adult will have a scooter we are renting from an off site company. Its been years since some of the adults have been there, first time for my DD.

We will meet up with family that lives in Tampa that has a season pass.

We will be staying on site at Fort Wilderness cabins.

I was wondering if anyone had tips for first timers at Disney? I cant wait..I already have Disney on the brain! ahha

I would purchase a guide book. There are many to choose from. Read up and you will be ready to tackle Disney with a plan as to what interests your family.

I don't think it will be too bad for you. My biggest tip is to borrow a few books from the library, and go to the wdw web site and check out rides you really must do. Make a list of the must do things, and concentrate on that. There can always be other trips and other things to do and see. Make ADR's, you will need them if you are planning on eating in the parks. I know about Disney on the brain! We live fro Pittsbugh in May and I cannot wait. I bought the Passporter and love it, you might want to look into it too.

...definitely invest in a good guide...my personal favorite is the passporter. Definitely make reservations for dining (you can now do 180 days in advance). Reservations for the Candlelight Processional usually begin in mid to late August...go...it's well worth it (it's at EPCOT). Be sure to go around to the different resorts to see the Christmas decorations...you won't be sorry! Invest in a good digital camera...you'll take tons of pictures and a good digital camera will be well worth it.

Thanks for the tips everyone. My sister and her boyfriend are in charge of the actual planning...tickets/meals etc.

Another vote for a guidebook My favorites are the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and the PassPorter. Use that to pick your "must do's" and plan your park days around those. Have fun

You are not going at the busiest time of the year. in fact from the 14th to the 18th is a very low time. You will love it at these dates. Have a great vacation.

Welcome...I'm from the Pittsburgh area too and I agree with the post prior to mine...your first few days there will be great!!! Low crowds, I would try and get in the big rides that have the longest lines such as Test Track, missions space, rock n roller coaster, Tower of Terror, all the mountain, etc. I hope you have a wonderful trip. Christmas time is magical there.
