Disney Fanasty September 21-28, 2013 Easteren Caribbean

Sandy...I work for Jetblue so I can get a discount for the family out of JFK. Plus I would drive 2 hours to not fly Spirit!

Thanks for all the helpful tips everyone! I added my info on the Google doc. So exciting!

Hello, I am on this cruise, too! So far, I am traveling solo unless I can persuade some friends to come along. I am flying in on Friday and am planning on staying at a WDW resort for just the one night. I am confused about transportation. I signed up for the magical express to get from the airport to the hotel but how do I get from the hotel to the port? and then from the port back to the airport? I couldn't find anything on line to help guide me. Any ideas? Thanks. Linda Z.

Welcome!

We have a group on FB - that's where most of the activity is. Request access to that group here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/424481097566602/665076670173709/?comment_id=665653773449332&notif_t=group_comment_reply

Once you do that, PM me (facebook.com/fundulidae) there with your DISname and your FB name and I will approve the request.

If you want to be part of the FE, also PM me your email address and I will give you access to the Google doc where we are keeping that information. This way everyone can update their own info.

The google doc isn't FE specific - its a good resource even if you aren't participating in the FE - it's a place to put names, staterooms numbers, celebrations, etc.

This is shaping up to be a really great group and I'm very excited to meet everyone!

The Link is not working. It says it is broken :-(

You can purchase transfers directly from DCL or through your travel agent. It's $35 per person, per leg. Or, some folks rent a car (one way preferably so you don't have to pay parking for the week) or private limo, town car.

We will be joining you on this cruise. We are staying at Bay lake before and after the cruise. We are from upstate NY and this will be number 8 for us. Hope you all enjoy the cruise as much as we do.

Thanks, Lydia. Renting doesn't make sense for me as a solo but I didn't know I could buy transfer by the "leg". They all seemed to be roundtrip. - Linda Z.

:lmao:

We love JetBlue. Whenever we have the choice, even if it's a little more, we go with them. Plus we have three airports we can choose from, Newark, Stewart and Westchester. I try to avoid the two NYC airports if I can

Good afternoon,

As somebody on the FB page pointed out, today we have 11 weeks until our cruise.

That sounds so much better than 74 days, doesn't it? :cool1:

Linda,
You can buy transfers direct from Disney one way is $35. Or rent a car one way down to port and back (watch the rates though- some company's charge one way rental fees that will make this route expensive). DH are renting a car and it's just us so we may have room for one/two other people on the way down in the car if they want to split the fees. We're renting from National both ways and coming in the day before the cruise going home day after staying BLT before and BWV after.

Nikki, Thank you for the offer. :goodvibes I am staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge the day before. Is that close enough to where you are staying? Its been about 20 years since I stayed at a WDW resort and I am not up on all of the resorts. I would be willing to share a ride over to the port :drive: but I am going to the airport the day we get back.

So, is Animal Kingdom Resort a good place to stay for me? I get in 2pm, by the time I get to the resort, it will be about 4pm. Too late for a park but will there still be things to do there, other than watching the animals outside? Would it make more sense to stay near Downtown Disney? I just want to maybe see a show or something. Can I take the shuttle over to Downtown Disney?:confused3

I'd say AKL is a perfect resort when you're not doing parks. There's so many activities or you can just sit on your balcony and watch the animals on the Savannah (or go to one of the public areas if you don't have a Savannah view)

My vote would actually be for Saratoga springs or akv as well. I do enjoy akv but the one time we Stayed there on a non-park trip, we did not rent a car, and it was June. It was so hot and the animals were not out. On top of which having no car meant that when we did want to go to downtown Disney the bus ride took literally near an hour going and nearly an hour and a half coming back. and I enjoyed the resort, but when we do our non-park trips we do a lot of things at downtown Disney such as bowling movies shopping etc. For that reason we would probably in the future stay at Saratoga Springs on the non-park trip.

Ah, heck. I decided to go ahead and rent a car. That way, I can spend less on my hotel, go shopping and still get to downtown Disney for the evening. Now if I could only open Stephanie's doc to sign up for FE and for the brunches and tastings... So much to do... Have a good week, everyone.

Seems BLT is the place to stay! For those that aren't doing MNSSHP the night before the cruise, we are meeting up at Top of the World to watch HalloWishes.

We have a FB group if you'd like to join us there:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/424481097566602/667438369937539/

And if you are interested in joining in on the FE gift exchange, message me with your email address that you would like to use for Google docs and I'll give you access.

For either the FB or FE group, please PM me your real name as well as your DIS name so I know who is requesting what (and know who to approve since we have had people request access that don't actually belong to the boards).

We have tickets to the party and look forward too it. We are taking transfers from the airport and plan to be at the port by 11:00. Hope we run into a few when we are at the port, we have an 11.00 PAT. We arrive at Bay Lake tuesday before the cruise. Do you know if anyone in the group is collecting the cards for Sorcerer of the Magic Kingdom? Maybe we could do some card trading on the cruise.

My partner and I are super excited about this cruise. We are huge park fans, and try to go every year. Last year we took our first Disney Cruise, and our first cruise! We're hooked! Our room is still GTY, so no clue where we are at yet, but that's ok. There's so much to look forward to! We will be celebrating my 38th birthday on the 24th while we're in St Maarten, and dinner at Palo that night.
