True, they have new ones but they are really kiddies rides and they need more thrilling coasters like Space Mountain or Everest ,etc?

Disney doesn't do that.

However, Matterhorn Bobsleds was state of the art when it opened.

I mean I don't like wild coasters so it's perfect for me. But I think Disney succeeds in it's goal of being a family destiny. Will it attract people who only want the biggest, fastest coasters? Probably not, but there's enough there for a teen boy being dragged along to begrudgingly enjoy himself, and people enjoy that opportunity to be a kid. Certainly, high school groups happily go to disney and have a good time. I think, especially WDW has a great balance of family/thrill that makes the parks PERFECT for what they are :)

i love roller coasters but I don't go to WDW to ride the coasters... they are apart of it sure, but roller coasters or not, i am going to Disney. I imagine that the older you get the less attractive the coasters are. I still ride 'em all at Disney but there are a couple at Six Flags that i don't ride any more...

We're really looking forward to the new Tron ride. I watched a YouTube video of the ride at Shanghai Disneyland and it looks awesome. In general though, I agree with PP's who said Disney strikes a great balance with family rides vs thrill rides. Disney Imagineering really is incredible- if you think about it, Small World and Jungle Cruise are basically the same concept, but they are two completely different experiences. I don't think Disney will ever fall short or behind based on the creativity and level of immersion they offer with each ride.

I think they try to have some of each. The thrill rides and the family nostalgia rides. Something for everyone. That way families with teens looking for thrills will be happy and families with ride-wimps (like me) and small kids will also be happy.

I'm fine with them not attracting more Universal/Six Flags-type demographics. Even if it means more "kiddie" rides.

What exactly does this mean? Are "Universal types" riff raff because we enjoy more extreme rides?

You know exactly what that poster means.

"Universal/Six Flags-type demographics" is obviously a code for certain racial/socioeconomic groups.

Something like Busch Garden's Cheetah Hunt coaster would be a great fit for Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The tower part could be hidden in a mountain like Everest.

The rest of the sprawling layout could be in the vast surrounding areas not visible to guest view.

But other than that, WDW has a decent amount of coasters already.

Different amusement parks attract us for different reasons. We know what to expect at Disney-a nice, well done variety of attractions and shows. Universal thrill rides and theming of HP. Bush Gardens- theming and rides and just a nice day out.

Hardly, but great job inserting words into my mouth.

I'm concerned about obnoxious teens and young adults. The last time I went to Six Flags was the last time I will go to Six Flags.
