Hello,

I may be slow on this, but I just heard there is a Disney fairy movie coming soon? Does anybody know the release date? I have read a few things that say it has been pushed back some...

I am desperate to find a movie DD will like in a theater. She loved Enchanted, but was so petrified of KungFu panda we had to wlak out. I don't dare try Wall-E...seriously, without a princess her interest is just not there...:confused3 She barely tolerated Horton hears a Who!!!

tks!

tks!

The last preview I saw for it (I think it was one of the Wall-E previews, but don't quote me) said November.
I'm excited too!

Late October. At least that is what I am told. (i work in the Disney Store). We will probably be pre-selling it soon, along with Wall-E.

Yes, it's direct to DVD. We've been anxiously awaiting this for about 1 year and a half now!!

My 6.5 year old is the same way. She really only likes princess movies. She LOVED Enchanted, but has not really liked any movies since then. She did like "Kit," the American Girl movie. But we've read all of the books, and I would think it would not really interest a 4 year old.

tks for the info. Too bad it's not a theatrical release. I guess we have the 2009 (2010???) African princess movie to look forward to...hopefully in theaters!

Why is this movie taking so long to come out?
Its seriously been 1.5 or so since I saw the preview and all the toys came out for it. We bought some of the fairies & playset long ago but no movie to be seen.

I heard that the powers that be really didn't like the way the movie was going and made them scrap a large portion and start over. Therefore taking much longer to come out.

Hi
This might clear up a few things; type in " Tinker Bell (film) " at Wikipedia.com
(Unfortunately my browser says I may not paste links- sorry  )

There’s also a Rapunzel film coming out in 2010: popcorn:: ("Rapunzel (film)" at Wikipedia)

We have been anxiously awaiting this movie! My dds (and even my dh) enjoy the books, so I am really hoping the movie is good.

Does anyone know why they changed the fairy characters (besides Tink)?

I have my ticker on countdown for the release on October 28!!!

We are very excited at my house!:yay:

I'm no authority, but I think there were a handlful of reasons. The originals were designed for a "novel" format and not the immediacy of movies. I can see where they might have thought that the original 7 Fairies were hard to explain/expensive to animate (due to costuming details), etc.

The original drawings are very detailed. If you look at the costume/animation stylings of the new girls, they are much more simplified - no hats, no fussy details and multiple layers, etc. those things are very expensive and time consuming to animate properly.

Also, it may be really hard to explain some of the critical details of some of the characters - why Rani has no wings comes to mind right away. How do you tell a 4 yr old that she had Tink and Vidia cut them off to give them to a dragon to save Neverland? Also (no offense to the newest DISer and previous poster), how the heck to you explain Prilla's talent in 10 seconds? It took a whole book devoted to her to do it. With the story rewrite, she won't even exist yet. This story takes place - pre-Peter Pan. Also, Vidia is just simply mean - not evil, just mean! I have to admit, we haven't prescreened the comic book version of the movie (that I picked up this weekend for my daughter ) yet, so I can't tell you if she's even in the movie.

Bottom line, all of the new characters were very minor fairies that were named in the books, but not truly expanded on until the Silvermist book was released this summer.

Snce we have girls, we planned ahead and bought all the books as they came out. I even have an autographed copy of the first one. I had to read them all to make sure they were appropriate, of course! :thumbsup2

PS - don't hate me - we get to see it on the big screen at Disney's El Capitain Theatre in Hollywood. They are only showing it there and it is starting tomorrow and running until Oct 2. We go with a big group of DISers on 9/28!
