Disney experience with younger kids?

I'll be 18 when we go on our next trip and we're taking another family that has 2 kids. one of them is a 9 year old little girl. I've never dealt with a kid this young in the parks, have any of you guys had to?

I need tips!

Kind of hard to answer this question. It depends on the kid. My girls are 7 & 3 and are wonderful at Disney. You being 18 is also a question. Are you willing to enjoy the parks with children or do you want to do your own thing?

Seeing Disney through my girls eyes makes my trip worth it regardless what attractions I can see.

i may be 18 but believe me. I act like I'm 9. I have ZERO PROBLEM sharing the magic. but my concern is that she may scare easy(although my dad said her older brother is the coaster chicken) i'm still worried if things like HM and SpaceMtn. will scare her

Hey there, I'm 18 and my step-sister is the grand old age of 8. She is a frightened little thing, but she managed (with persuasion) to go on Space Mountain and she loved it! However we didn't try and persuade her to go on HM, we know she would have hated it. It depends on the child, by the sounds of things it will be up to her parents what she perhaps is persuaded to go on to anyway, it wont be your responsibility or worry.

You don't have to go on each ride together anyway (that's what Child Swap is for ) I love that my step-sister is still a little kid, I get to visit Disneyworld through her eyes and it is SO much more fun!

I was with my little cousins in Beach Club Resort, WDW, and my little 5 year old cousin (4 at the time) was getting so excited telling me everything he loved about Disney world. He said how much he loves fireworks at all of the parks, meeting Buzz and Woody makes him really happy inside, and that he loves all of the food and snacks. Omg i love my little cousin Salvatore, and how happy he gets when talking about WDW<3

A few years ago, I went with my 7 year-old cousin (he was 5 at the time). He went on everything he was tall enough to get on with no problem at all because he saw everyone else going on. Maybe if she sees you going on, she'll give it a shot!
If not, then I'm sure someone will stay behind on a ride or two with her while you ride with the rest of your family.

I have a little brother (6) and a little sister (8) and it is hard to keep them under control with all the excitment and rides. keep them enertained while in the parks. let them go on rides that they want. if you do that you'll be fine.

I'm 16 but went to Disneyland with my little cousin in September. He was three days shy of turning 7.

I don’t know about kids, but going with another family may have issues during the trip. Places like Disney are either meant to be gone in a group or family, clearly your intent is to go as a family. Taking another family may have problems, a lot of things must be clarified like do you guys have to stick together throughout, what schedule best suits you guys etc.

I think they'll be fine with things like SM and HM. My brother is 7- six when we were at WDW in August, and he loved Haunted Mansion. He scares really easily, too!

Like others have mentioned, if you're going with another family, remember to take time away from eachother. We have been on holidays with other families and had arguments with them if we spend too much time together!
