My family of four will be arriving in DW in Sept. With a 2 year old and 4 year old it has been difficult to get a good family pic. I was wondering if anyone has used the Disney Even Photography for portraits and what your experience was like. I know it is expensive, but it is important to me to have a great family portrait. Is it worth it? Is the final product as fantastic as it should be for the price?
Thanks!

We used the event photography staff about 10 years ago. Photos were very nice but, as you say, expensive.

A more economical option available today is a private PhotoPass portrait session. Basically they give you 20 minutes at a Disney resort with a PhotoPass photographer. You get all of the photos taken on a CD and a few prints. When we did it in November the price was $99 but there is a $20 DVC member discount.

Resorts available include AKL (Jambo), Beach Club, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge and Poly. Here are a few pics from our photo session:

I'm sure there are better photographers in the world but given the price, setting, quality of the photos and the professionalism of the photographer, we were very pleased with the outcome.

I called 407-934-4004 to schedule in advance or you can simply stop by the PhotoPass desk in the lobby of qualifying resorts.

Going to agree with Tim. We called disney event productions last year and I believe at the time it was almost 700 bucks by the time it was all said and done. That was more than I wanted to spend for picutres.

We also went with a photopass private session. We were pleased.

We had a large family reunion in December and used WDW event photography.

You can set up any time you want, but ISTR you are limited to a few hotels and locations. We were at OKW and got our photos in the Hemingway room off the lobby and at some small outdoor theater thingie near the volleyball courts.

We had an hour slot and were able to take as many pics and combinations we wanted (there were 4 adult siblings with families for each and we sliced and diced a lot - pics with everyone, pics of each family, pics of the 4 sibs, pics with sibs and spouses, each couple alone, etc.)

In a few weeks you get access to the proofs (via a physical proof book and a secure website).

The only thing I would wanr you about is that you ask the photographer directly not to do any changes to photo type without checking with you first. At some point the pictures in our proofbook were B&W and then some were sepia toned. There were a few pictures that were the best poses of the grouping but were B&W for no explained reason. When we called to complain they said that the photographer did that on the camera and they couldn't change anything (i.e. it's not like the original color pic exists and we can undo the sepia etc.)

I didn't realize there was an option for the photopass private sessions. Thanks I will look into that!

I just called. There no longer is the Photopass Private Session. It has been taken over by Disney Fine Art Photography.
