I can't post the link here, but did anyone see this news story? Apparently a WDW hotel receptionist CM was caught stealing credit card numbers using a device she bought at a flea market. She then gave the information to another man who paid her $500 a month. She worked at SSR and OKW.

This is beyond wrong.
And come on now.... $500?? How did she think that was worth it?

I'm always amazed at what people will sell out for. $500 a month in exchange for a record (perhaps even a felony) just doesn't seem worth it. We had someone at work once fired for stealing only $200. I don't see how anyone would trade a job for $200.

Any employer the size of WDW will have bad apples, it is unfortunate but also inevitable. I"m glad they got caught and hopefully they will be able to find the bigger fish who most likely had multiple people doing this around the area.

With nearly 60,000 people working on property, you're going to have your share of bad apples. It's always horrible when it happens because everyone talks about them and it makes the good employees look bad.

Mom and I were talking about this tonight and we both said that if these people would put the time and energy they use coming up with ways to steal into actually doing their jobs well-they might do better at work and not need to steal!!

:sad2: Such a shame that some people think this is an answer to their problems...it only creates more.

We caught a girl at work stealing toilet paper. Yeah, toilet paper. How low is that? She had a deal going with the janitor and he was giving her giant bags filled with bathroom supplies. Unbelivable what some people will do.
I'm glad they caught the person stealing cc#'s at WDW.

Interesting. My friend had a problem with her card after a stay at OKW last fall.

Not remotely suprised. Our CC number, along with my parents card, had been hacked after our trip to WDW a couple of years ago. We stayed at SSR. About 2 months after our trip, we both had charges of a few hundred dollars at Florida gas stations on our cards, and the dumba$$ also used ours for dinner at Universal.

It's gonna happen, and it sure does stink when it does. Glad they got the little swine this time! We had been in contact with Disney Security, who apparently works with Orange County SO on crimes like this, and I never did hear if they got the little moron who did this to us, but it is nice to see someone get caught.

Three years ago, just after a stay at WDW, my credit card number was also stolen. There were also quite a few charges for Florida gas stations.
I have no idea at all of exactly how the number was stolen.

Crazy, just plain crazy - and stupid.

Before I travel any where, I call my credit card company and I tell them where I'm going and the dates. That way, if anything is charged afterwards in that area I won't have as big of a problem arguing the charges.

My credit card company called me a few months ago when there was a charge from a place in Brazil. My husband happened to be there on business for the first time. I was very impressed that they caught that. Of course, it left me wondering what he bought me and the kids......:)

My parents card number got stolen after a trip to Red Lobster! The method the former Disney worker (I refuse to call that person a Cast Member) used was similar to the one that got used on them. When the wait staff took the card they scanned it and got the number.
