disney emailing offers during vacation?

I've been getting emails each day this week from disney with little tips about our upcoming trip. Most seem like marketing ploys to get us to sign up for tours, and eat at their restaurants, but the one yesterday talked about special offers we'd be getting while on vacation.

Does anyone know what kinds of offers they email you? I don't want to really be bothered with the outside world while we're there, but if they sent some kind of merch discount out I would want that! Otherwise, we have our Photopass CD already, and don't plan to bounceback. I'm not sure what else they would have to offer. Anyone had this happen before?

Of course they are ploys. The emails are actually advertisements for other things they offer. Disney's marketing team are no dummy's. I hate to say this & may get flamed (but then again, this is the budget board ) I will not do something on a whim because they sent me a "tip". If I didn't have it set in my mind to do it, I am not going to. The money really starts to add up if you do that... me personally, I know what I have to spend...and that is all I am spending

When my parents were in Disney in April, I checked their email for these "special offers". Two days before they checked out, they were sent a bounceback email offer. They did have an offer in their room also and it was the same deal. They also earlier the same trip, received an email for a photopass discount - I don't recall what the discount was though.

I figure it's probably nothing that I need since we pre-ordered photopass, and aren't bouncing back. I would just hate to get my souvenirs throughout the trip, then get some kind of discount the day before we leave.

I received one of these emails prior to our most recent trip. What was strange though was that it came to an email address that I never gave Disney! You see, I have my own domain and create aliases that I give out to companies so I can monitor where spam is coming from.

In our April trip, I got an email a day before checkinh out, and it was a bounceback offer. There wasn't any in the room, so I guess that's why they were sending through my email I was staying on DVC on rented points if that makes a difference

We're doing the same, and we really plan to keep renting points since we like the resorts so much!

I guess it all is a marketing ploy for them to get more money. A special offer to me is a discount on their overpriced merchandise that I have to have!

I was there last weekend and received a bounceback offer via email while I was there.

It wasn't any different than the offer on the card in the room.
