Could someone remind me what the current plan for the remainder of the "Platinum" editions is. I know that Aladdin comes out in October of this year, but cannot remember what the rest of the schedule looks like.

Unless I'm mistaken, after Aladdin is released, that leaves just Bambi and Cinderella as the only two Disney Animated Features not yet released on DVD.

I see conflicting info on this.

Disney's own site only lists Aladdin for 10/05/04. Nothing further out.

The other sites seem to agree on Aladdin for 10/05/04.

One lists Bambi for 3/05, Mermaid for 10/05, Cinderella 3/06, Jungle Book 10/06, Lady and the Tramp 3/07, and 101 Dalmations 10/07.

Remember that 4 titles were added to the platinum list about a year ago, when Disney said they would release two Platinums per year. That doesn't even seem to be confirmed however, since I think there is only one Platinum release this year (Aladdin).

Now, another site has Dumbo as being released in either '04 or '05, but nothing more definite.

My understanding was that the Platinum Editions would begin with DVD premieres first. Aladdin will be next, but it should be Cinderella. Each title is supposed to go on a ten-year moratorium 90 days after the release.

Disney really screwed up the timing on this, because rather than chomping at the bit to get Snow White on DVD, they should have had the first platinum releases coincide with the 10th anniversaries of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, followed by Snow White (last year), and The Lion King (10th anniversary) this year. If released in that order, they could have reaped even bigger rewards with the anniversary tie-ins. Then we would probably see Cinderella in 2005, etc. Oh well.

I really like the Platinum editions and I hope they keep their plan for the moratoriums. But remember, these are the same people who weren't going to re-release a VHS version of Snow White in 2001, and who supposedly placed Fantasia on a 50 year moratorium in 1990. Promi$e$, promi$e$.
