Has anyone attended the DVC Member open house?

I went with my wife and 3 kids last week and it was great. We went on a tour of BLT and I was blown away. I took all kinds of pics from the Top of the World Lounge. they provided us with great finger food including these thing called cheese cake on a stick. We had a great time. Has anyone else attended this event and what are your thoughts?

I did it when we were there a few weeks ago just because I wanted to see the TOTWL. The cheesecake on sticks were the highlight of the event.

I thought it was kind of boring, and a waste of valuable park time. They were really pushing add-ons. It was done as a game show, but it was pretty lame. I wanted to ask a question about the so-called incentives and instead of anyone at the event answering my questions, they kept putting me off, and after the "show" made me meet with this jerk named Edwin who was convinced he was going to get me to buy GC, no matter what it took. He was so smug and so wrong. I had to get up and walk out, which caused his chin to literally drop.

If they are going to have an event that is all about add-ons, and the "special deals" on those add-ons, they need to just make that info available instead of making us sit through a too-long "game show" and not get any real info.

I also thought the lounge was quite small. I was surprised how small it was. The outside balcony was bigger, but on a cool or windy night I would not want to be standing out there. It was very windy the day we were there, and I thought some of the smaller guest just might get blown away.

Overall, i was not impressed with the event or the lounge. but I would love a few more of those cheesecakes on a stick. :)

Unless you really, really don't have anything else to do, skip it.

Funny, the size of the lounge is perfect IMO and one of the things I really like about it. I think it's gorgeous - very well done. :thumbsup2 To each their own...

When are these offered? I didn't know about this and we will be at BLT in a few weeks. Thanks!

We took the tour when we stayed at BLT the first week of March. We found out about it when we talked to the DVC rep manning the DVC kiosk in BLT's lobby. If you want to attend, just ask any rep at a DVC kiosk and they can set you up. Or just call your Guide and tell her or him you'd like to sign up for the tour. BTW, we liked the tour and thought it was a very low-keyed sales event. When we toured, they gave us a goody bag with a notepad, a DVC lanyard, and a DVC pin, and some Fastpasses, too. They also had a drawing for a $100 gift card.

Have fun on your trip!!!

I thought it was low key also, I had to seek out info about the event. We took our three kids with us on a day that was over cast with for cast of rain. they gave us 5 DVC pin 2 DVC lanyards and 5 fast pass cards and I was asked if I wanted to get more points on time and I said I did not need any right now. That was the first and last time anyone asked me about point. I thought it was nice. If you have time I would recommend it.

We went last week and thiught it was a good event. Some nice goodies were given out and the cheesecakes were good!

Cheesecake??? We did not get cheesecake. Of course we were there at 9am, so that may explain it!

So am I correct that the only way for a DVC member to even SEE the TOTWL is to book a stay at BLT?

This is great to know. I would go just to get the fast passes. ;) We are staying at BLT in less than a month.

Is it something you reserve, or is it offered during certain times? Is this different than a full-blown tour?

Seems to be offered every day at 1:00 or 1:30 for current members. Just stop by any DVC kiosk (in the resort or the parks) and ask to go and they will set you up. You do have to find your way over on your own though (not too tough using Disney transportation).

Try and reserve this at least a day ahead...it was full the day we tried to do it (about two weeks ago). We did go over to BLT and tour the models, though.
