Thinking of doing a trip to WDW during thanksgiving weekend. How are the crowds during this weekend?

TIA

We were there in 2012 for Thanksgiving, so a few years ago.

I didn't think the crowds were bad. I'd say average.

We will be there this year the same weekend.

It's going to be pretty busy.

Like 9 out of 10 busy.

If its better, I'd be pleasantly surprised.....

We were there last year and it was the busiest we've ever seen, having done it a few times before.

Wall to wall people, all fastpasses gone by around 10 am for pretty much everything. We were able to get a fastpass for everything that we needed once, got all the ADRs we wanted (we had free dining) at 180 days. You had to plan though to get what you really needed to do.

If you're planning something last minute and are cool with whatever, then you can have fun. If you're cool with waiting in line for an hour, then also fine. But if you expect a trip where you go on attractions multiple times a trip, you will get frustrated.

We notice in 2016 there was a ton of foreign visitors from all around the world. I was really surprised, if you work with a travel agent, that agent should know that the week is an American holiday that really fills the resort. I felt bad for them, may obviously didn't do fastpasses in advance and probably had a frustrating trip.

The fastpass kiosks had rope lines, some of them were honestly like a half hour, 45 minute wait just to see if you can get a fastpass!

Through Wednesday not too bad ........ Thursday through Sunday. :crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded:

Can't tell you how many times internationals have said they were surprised by crowds during holidays they knew nothing about. President's Week, July 4th, Thanksgiving .... they don't know anything about them.

Busy. But it's fun and festive. We enjoy going but spend minimal time at the parks...

In your esteemed opinion @HopperFan, Is Sunday starting to die down, or is it just as bad?

We are in the parks Wed & Thursday, have an AKL resort day and Wanyama Tour Friday, switch to WL for Hoop-Dee-Do and a resort Day Saturday, and had hoped to peek our heads out on Sunday afternoon for a bit at the MK, sandwiched between brunch at CG and later a pub crawl on the monorail. Bad idea for an MK afternoon?

Sunday after is a party day at MK so you should be pretty good. Crowds lower.
That's what I was thinking too. I can't decide if I want to do the MVMCP on this Sunday or the following Tuesday . It seems like EVERYONE is going on Tuesday the 28th!

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. I thought it was on the main November thread.

I think most will be heading home on Sunday of the holiday week crowd. Have had success the week after.

Hey, go to the park Saturday, if it's crowded, leave and go somewhere else. MK is always busy on Saturdays and it likely will be so on a holiday. I like to use those days to avoid the rides and just enjoy all the details that we are usually busy buzzing past. Wander the shops, try a few new snacks, look up - you'd be surprised how many details there are on and in buildings we all totally miss.

Saturday we are switching from AKL to WL. We have visited but never stayed there. I think we will find enough to explore there and at the Fort before our HDDR ADR. Should we get bored (lol) we will definitely take the boat over to sit on Main Street. Thanks for the suggestion .

What's your thoughts on the party Sunday or Tuesday the 28th?

LOVE WL, explore every nook and cranny!!! You would likely find me having lunch at Geyser Grill, can't wait to get there ... but then I'm afraid I'll never want to leave.

Parties............. I've gone EVERY NIGHT and I tell you there is no guarantee. I've been to sold out Sunday and empty Fridays. No rhyme or reason. The theory is weeknights are less busy due to losing locals but I honestly don't see them doing the Christmas party only the Halloween. I have gotten to where since so many parties sell out ......... I go when it works for MY schedule.

Those two parties will likely be people at Disney for the week so I would say just what works for you.

What's are your thoughts on MK closing at 4pm on Thursday? Any thoughts on what that will do to the parties that week? My thought NOW is everyone will be at the Tuesday party. That is, unfortunately, the one we have scheduled into our plans. I still haven't bought the tickets so I could do some switching up and change to Sunday, but we will then miss out on the fireworks from the Observation Deck at the Contemporary and the Dessert Party with Garden View on Tuesday.

Arg...decisions, decisions ! Thanks for letting me pick your brain . (Good thing I was paying attention . Autocorrect was having me pick your baby! :scared1:)

All is good, my baby is 24 and she can hold her own. I'd worry more about you.

Like I say, you have a chance they will both sell out, then it makes no difference. I would not give up anything special to change party nights. I think the 4 pm close is going to PACK the non-party nights more than it will change what happens at parties. Me personally, you have some good stuff planned, things I would not give up.

Okay then, thanks for the advice! I'm off to buy my tickets for Tuesday.

Coincidentally, my baby girl is also 24 and DEFINITELY can hold her own as well!

ETA Oops I lied. Her boyfriend is 24, she won't be until March. BAD MAMA!

I still have to do the math in my head .... :teacher:
