DISNEY DREAMING! A Nov/Dec 2010 PTR *12/9 ~ Hello Again!

Awesome movie night choice :teeth:

Loving the flashback pics of the family :) Some great memories there :goodvibes

great flash back pictures...we were there for the "golden" castle too...my Mom got to see it when it was the birthday cake...I personally can't wait to see it lit up w/icicles :cloud9:

we love Lilo and Stitch too...we have the whole set of movies...original, # 2 and the Leroy and Stitch one...Bekah has a fascination w/ Elvis so she is especially fond of it.

good choice :thumbsup2

Miss you! I hope to do some serious updating later today and from here on out till our trips! I cannot believe how close they are!

Love the photos from CRT and all! So many wonderful memories! I love that you are going to continue movie nights, even if Alex is a stick in the mud. ;)

Oh dear, I have neglected this little PTR for a few days haven't I? Sorry! I need to get my replies out, finish up my park day plans, I had another shopping trip, we had another movie night last night and I want to get an update out organizing all my DIS meets!

Good news on the passport issue. It's not yet in hand, but Passport Canada has said it's approved and they'll be sending it out for mid next week. Keep your fingers crossed just a little bit longer for us!

I'm back! We got back on 10/24 and I just got caught up with everything! I missed a lot . Your trip is getting so close! I hope everything works out with the passport issue. We are going back in June for 5 days just for Universal and IOA and Disney water park this time. I told River we would travel to 1 amusement park each summer as long as he does good in school. We will be staying at POP so at least I get some Disney in. After that we won't be back until MK is completed:sad1: I can't wait to hear the rest of your plans!

Helloooo!! Welcome back! I like your train of thought there - every summer if he does well in school. :thumbsup2 I think I've pondered this before, but I wonder how many people are doing the same thing -- postponing or waiting to plan trips until Fantasyland is done? It's going to be really busy then isn't it? :headache:

I wondered too. now that I know, I'll have to go find some too.

I have never seen Lilo and Stitch. I don't even know if we own it. We have a couple Disney VHS's from my older kids that I just have never watched. Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of them.
Yesterday and today, Claire and I watched Toy Story 1 and 2. It was fun.

I hope you find the Ohana juice. :goodvibes I don't dislike Hunchback but I was never a big fan of it. We have it on VHS too and it's been forever since I saw it - you never know, maybe we'd like it this time around. I really recommend Lilo though. :thumbsup2

Hey, Tracy!

Loved seeing all the old pictures... especially Ariana with Cinderella!

I don't know... I kind of liked the Castle when it was adorned with "bling!"

Kathy

Hi Kathy! I really liked the Castle with the gold bling too, but the simplicity of it on it's own is my favorite. :goodvibes

My how Ariana has changed over the years eh?!

Hm, I'm slightly disappointed that the O'hana juice isn't Disney made.. But I'm totally excited I can get some next time I go to the store!!! I love the Lilo & Stitch breakfast too, it's my favorite!

Isn't it nice to have a touch of Disney from home? Now if they'd just put Lilo and Stitch on the label....

Awww, your found pictures are absolutely adorable! Isn't it great to watch your kids grow through pictures like that!

Sounds like a great movie night! We haven't seen Lilo and Stitch in a longtime! I keep think that we should watch all the disney Christmas movies we have the week before we leave to get in the mood but I'm not sure DH would go for it!

I love looking back at my pictures, I do it all the time. I was just talking to a co-worker this morning who just came back from Disney last week. I've been bugging her to see pictures of her trip - she went to WWoHP and MNSSHP - and she told me it's her husband that takes all the pictures and she usually never looks at them.:confused:

Demetri is just itching to watch all the Disney Christmas movies we have. We've told him the days leading up to when we go is the best time for that. Get your DH to pick out ONE Christmas movie and tie him to the chair! :rotfl:

Awesome movie night choice :teeth:

Hey Stefy! I knew you'd like Demetri's choice! :teeth:

Ugh the birthday cake! I love seeing pictures of it, but I'm really glad that wasn't our first time seeing the Castle. I too cannot wait to see the Castle lighting.... I'm going to be bawling. ;) :cloud9:

When we're back I'm going to introduce Demetri to the other Stitch movies. Too funny, he loves the Elvis stuff too. When Stitch was doing the concert on the beach in the white suit...... :lmao:

Well hey there stranger! I lurked at the books you've made but never made it back yet to comment -- thumbs up they are GREAT!! Woo hoo for more updates! Sixteen days and seven hours!!!

Lol to Alex being a stick in the mud! My guess is he'll stick with us as long as he likes the movie that's chosen. ;)

You need to tell life that it is RUDE to intrude, and it needs to BACK UP so you can post an update!!!

Natalie and I may start a riot!!!

lol... Thanks Toni

My park days are done I just ned to put in some changes I made :rolleyes1

Geez! No pressure! :rolleyes1

:banana: Yay about the passport!! Better late than never!

I'll feel much better once I know she actually has it, but oh yes it was definately great to hear things are moving along!

15 Days, 2 hours and 55 minutes. That countdown leads me to midnight on November 26th. The morning of the 27th, we pack up our van and head on over to the Buffalo Airport. Yikes!! Lots of little things to get caught up on:

Demetri’s Hockey

When we got Demetri’s finalized hockey schedule, we realized his team and individual photos would be on the day we’re flying out. That sucked. I love having those photos. So while I couldn’t do anything about the team photo just yet, once he got his new jersey I got him to give me a hockey pose last practice.

Isn’t he just too cute? I think so.

Shopping!

Somehow I forgot to include these guys in my last shopping trip update.

2010_1107Misc0005.jpg

Ariana loves to keep her hands busy and these two are the perfect way to kick off the trip. I’ll give them to her as we’re leaving for the airport.

Shopping part deux!

I’ve been on a mission lately to track down Christmas Disney window clings. You’d think they’d be all over the place now that Halloween is over, but I can’t find them anywhere! I know they’ll come out eventually but I’ve just been increasingly annoyed when I search from store to store to cross that off my to-do list and I can’t find them.

I finally did however, track down the specialty sheets that allow you to make your own. Geez it took me longer than it really should have! So now I get to choose which ones to make to hang on our windows. Definitely my avatar, and I’ll likely steal Tracy’s (mrsksomeday) “Do you DIS?” one -- I just have to decide which other ones.

2010_1107Misc0058.jpg

I found these other things too in my travels:

Santa hats for the kids:

2010_1107Misc0063.jpg

Non Disney gel window clings that I can reuse once we’re home:

2010_1107Misc0059.jpg

Rain ponchos, 2011 calendars for the kids rooms, tiaras, light up pins and magnetic ‘sizzlers’ for Demetri’s fun bag. (Wondering if those will make it past airport security actually……)

2010_1107Misc0065.jpg

Lastly was a fun little Tink bag I picked up for Ariana. It was tagged $9.89, it rang up on the register as $7.47 and the woman at the checkout thought it was cute so she gave it to me for half off – a $3.73 bag! Woot!

Home Shopping

Alex’s birthday present back in August was a new hard drive video camera. The deal we struck with him was we’d pay half (it's a $900 camera he got for $600 thru a promotion) and it had to come with us on the trip with him as chief video taker. The battery it came with didn’t have a long usage life though so we ordered one online and it arrived this week too. The hard drive will store 12 hours worth of video and Alex will be downloading each day the video we take. Think we’ll take more than 12 hours of video a day? ;)

Movie Night

Earlier this week was Alex’s choice for movie night. I decided to make it a jammie party movie night and we all got into our jammies, Demetri had his favorite snuggle toys and from under blankets we watched. :happytv: His selection?

2010_1109Misc0011.jpg

Mulan!

How funny is it that the first princess movie we finally watch is Alex’s pick? Ah but Mulan is not your typical princess movie. Besides the fact that in order to save her father she pretends to be a boy most of the movie, the focus of the story is how she saves China in battle from the nasty Huns and brings honor to her family.

Our favorite characters?

300px-Mulan_Screenshot.jpg

Mushu and Cri-kee. Snort laughs abound in this movie and I found myself tearing up when Mulan is reunited with her father. (Yup, still a sap!) Two of my favorite ‘movie songs’ (where the Disney character sings it, not a star doing a remake) are from this movie too – Reflection and I’ll Make a Man Out of You. Demetri actually turned to me after I’ll Make a Man Out of You and said, “Wow!” He loved it too.

Once again it’d been a long time since we watched it and Demetri’s first time seeing it so we thoroughly enjoyed it. There wasn’t a song within the movie that Ariana asked to sing and dance to… until the end to “True to Your Heart”. Then she started dancing like Mulan walking into the battle camp pretending to be Ping. Ha! I snapped this picture of the two of them dancing to the credits.

It was then time to take another Mickey head and section of links down. We are officially down to one wall in our living room – all of the links off the long wall are gone!!

(I have just enough time to go pick up Alex now from hockey practice, and when I come back I'll post my Park Day 9 plans!! --- Stay tuned!)

Oh Demetri is so stinkin' cute in that hockey uniform!!! :cutie:

I had fun making the window decals!! I think it's neat to have personalized ones...

You know, I have never watched Mulan all the way through... :scared:

Peer Pressured??? What the heck are you talking about? :rolleyes1

Don't you hate when people schedule important things during your Disney trip? Eryka is missing Altar Server training

Look at your countdown Chain Whoo Hooo :banana::banana:

THOSE CLINGS ARE DRIVING ME FREAKING CRAZY TOO:headache:

Can't wait to hear some park plans!!!

Demetri and his teammates are sooo funny out on the ice. No positions, just herds of tiny hockey players all going as one big group following the puck around! :rotfl:

Did you put your window decals in your PTR? Which ones did you do?

Oh you have to watch Mulan! It's great!!

:rotfl: I need my butt kicked into gear once in a while!

Ugh, I know! My company's Christmas party which Demetri goes to every year is also on the Saturday we fly out. I really wish they'd consulted me (out of 50,000 or so people!) first. I mean really, come on.

I have to give the cling search a break. I still want to find them but I'm happier now that I have the DIY ones.

Park plans coming up!

Alrightie!!

If you remember, I’d made a promise to Ariana we would have extra Magic Kingdom time this trip. On our first MK day, we are going to MVMCP and on our second MK day, we are going to the Boardwalk for the evening. So with only two park days left at this point in our trip, we’re heading back to……..

A recap of our days so far:
Saturday, November 27th – Arrival Day
Sunday, November 28th – Park Day 1 - MK and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Monday, November 29th – Park Day 2 – DHS
Tuesday, November 30th – Park Day 3 – DHS
Wednesday, December 1st – Park Day 4 – AK
Thursday, December 2nd – Park Day 5 – Resort / DTD Day
Friday, December 3rd – Park Day 6 – Epcot
Saturday, December 4th – Park Day 7 – Magic Kingdom / Boardwalk
Sunday, December 5th – Park Day 8 – Epcot

DAY 9
MAGIC KINGDOM
Monday, December 6th
Park Hours: 8am – 11pm

Yay! Back to the Magic Kingdom! Can’t get enough of this place. Honestly. On this day we’ll be doing whatever suits our fancy and just soaking everything in. Decorations, character greets, the Castle – everything! We’ll be coming off of what I think will be an early evening the night before so breakfast can again be from Everything Pop or back to the Main Street Bakery we’ll go. I don’t have anything specific planned until dinner so we’ll just wing where to go for lunch too.

A recap of the MK objectives I listed way back for Park Day 1:

My hodge podge of notes for Magic Kingdom. In no particular order, things we’ve never done before:

Have a Dole Whip - still never had one!
Find the wishing well on the path to the right of the castle.
Look for Tinkerbell in the keyhole in the sewing drawer next to the door at the front of Tink’s shop.
Go to Tom Sawyer Island – never been!
Find Cinderella’s horse on the Carousel. Second horse in with a gold ribbon on its tail.
Meet Tiana and Naveen, Ariel and Eric, Woody and Jessie.
Dance at Club 626.
See Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial on their new stage.
Take pictures on the bench w/Goofy in front of City Hall and w/Roy & Minnie in the courtyard.
Find and listen to the wall mounted telephone next to the cash register in the General Store.
Ride Jungle Cruise at night!
Take pictures of Walt’s two windows and the Disney family coat of arms.
Ride the Liberty Square Riverboat.

Anything not checked off will be this day – no ifs, ands or buts!

Our ADR for this day is a 5pm dinner at Kona Café.

Yet another place I can’t wait to try! The coffee will definitely be a must try (soooo long without my Timmie's!!) and the Teriyaki style New York Strip sounds divine (although George will order his without the glaze – boring!) I’d love to try a Lapu Lapu but those suckers are big and while we won’t be rushing, we do have to make it back to MK in time for the 7pm Disney’s Electrical Parade. I don't want to be stumbling around after :drinking1

184674474iqkGjs_fs.jpg

I realized late in the game that although this is our third day at MK, we won’t see the parade until this day. Ariana adores Spectro Magic and I think she’ll really enjoy the EP - I definitely don’t want her to miss it. We’ll make sure to catch it in Frontierland at our favorite spot at the end of the parade route so I think we’ll be OK.

Wishes will of course be a must see and the park closes at 11pm so I’m definitely going to try for lots of night pictures too. Woo-hoo!

Isn't that a gorgeous picture? I have it as my desktop wallpaper. :cloud9:

That’s it for Park Day 9!

So, what do you think?

Your day sounds great...except that you left out the DIS meet after the fireworks! Will you guys be there? Did you make any room requests at POP? It would be so neat if we all ended up being near each other!

Ack you're right! I did leave out the DIS meet! :faint: Yes, we will definately be there. :thumbsup2

I haven't made a room request yet, other than the co-joining request when I booked, but I think I'm going to just ask for upper level refurbed rooms. I would love it if we were all around one another! :cool1:

We did post our decals... here is the link!
