Disney Dream - Restart Content (initial cruises)

Based on what I am reading elsewhere, it sounds like a number of the people being turned away were families who thought "we'll be tested at port" or "the kids will test at port, tra la!" and didn't get PCR results, since it is PCR PLUS test at port. Or they got rapid tests, instead of PCR.

Several appear to be rumbling about "gonna SUE Disney because why could they not accommodate!"

So any Concierge level people have a report? We are trying to figure out when we can arrive at parking garage On the Aug 16th Dream cruise. We have tried to Contact the concierge shoreside rep and they have not been helpful at all. All we have been told is we have no port arrival time and can show up anytime. From today's pictures looks like garage opens at 12:45?
Concierge have no PAT. When you show up with your port arrival form, they will send you right through to either testing or parking depending on Vaccine status. I was told that the port will open at 1pm and I could arrive anytime.

Pretty much this. There's a first-hand account on Reddit who said that they collected the names of at least 24 families who were turned away because they didn't arrive with PCR test results for their unvaccinated travelers (kids or otherwise).

It blows me away that someone would try to sail these days--and even more so on the first sailing--without reading every last word of the protocols on the website.

We've had a LOT of questions about the Kids' Clubs on the Dream. Here's what we know for this sailing. There's approximately 250 kids under age 12 on board this sailing. Each child can be registered for a 1.5-hour time slot at the Oceaneer's Club/Lab on a sea day.

The kids have a 15-minute session in each of the rooms in Oceaneer's, and they rotate rooms as a group with cleaning in between each group.

Parents can check back in the afternoon to see if there's more time slots available. No food is being served in the kids' club.

On port days (including Castaway Cay), parents can get a slot of 2 to 2.5 hours. This may vary depending on the number of kids on board.

Edge (the tween club) and Vibe (the teen club) are open with no need to reserve time slots.

Also a report that there are 1500 guests onboard.

I keep seeing different numbers. Is it 1500 that booked or 1500 that actually boarded. There is another number of like 400-500 being turned away at port.

1500 would be 37% capacity while 2000 would be 50% capacity. Based on the videos and content so far it seems like it would be 1500 minus the 400-500 who were turned away for boarding. Meaning they are only at 25% capacity with booking up to 37%.

Busses! Has anyone read/seen info on how they are working the busses from MCO? Are they putting vaccinated and unvaccinated on the same bus? Are they managing it by PAT (seems they would). How about at the port? How are they managing those who need to be tested vs. those who don't?

I asked Touringplans about the rainforest room. Here was their response: We got the last sea day slot when we went up on embarkation day around 3 PM, and it was for 8 AM that next morning. (Sea days are always more popular than port days, especially for Castaway Cay days.) It was $174 for up to 10 people linked on your reservation for a 2 hour slot.

I just saw that one. And they booked on DVC points, so the refund in the form of payment is likely to be Reservation Points. I bet that guy is going to be totally delighted by THAT.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing. I imagine he is not going to be happy.

Disney waited until 17 days prior to sailing to announce absolutely anything. When they did it was not exactly the most straight forward thing. Disney yesterday even recognized their error (imo) by not having a pre cruise checklist of things needed to be done each of the days, they posted a site sometime last night regarding this checklist.

Disney should have also been proactively reaching out to every single guest who did not file a vaccination card or did not order the test kits through their vendor.

Yes personal responsibility but also lets not completely let Disney off the hook here. We are now at 25 days remaining until the Fantasy cruise where one of the ports is a Level 4 CDC country and requires 100% vaccination of 12+ on the cruise ship to dock.

We sail on the dream next week. Someone who is on the dream right now posted on our FB group. He said 1500 TOTAL on the ship right now, or 37%.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong; my personal life has been super busy lately and I barely have time to keep up with everything.
Isn't it required to enter all the testing results or vaccination proof on Safe Passage? One would think the families could have looked up their status to know that they’re all set to go long before heading to the port.

....

It's a learning process for Disney and guests. The checklist was much needed, and it's good that is now available.

I read the reddit post. It seems that the safe passage site was showing "green" since the adults uploaded their vax cards. No indication that the kids status was incomplete

I don't know man... I think if you were going to drop thousands of dollars on a cruise you would do your extensive homework and make sure the t's are crossed and i's are dotted. In these times you roll the dice when you travel and hope you don't come up with snake eyes. You especially roll the dice when its the first cruise back.

Seems like other people vaccinated and un vaccinated were able to get on the boat.
