Disney Dream - Prices

What is the closest airport to PC? We have always (2x we cruised) gone thru DCL for it all.. flights, insurance, and hotel (MCO Hyatt, nite before..) . However, i don't want to deal with renting a car.. just wondering if you flew into a closer(?) airport, can you take a cab or something to the port?? Or to different hotel, closer?

NancyIL- Who do you use for insurance? You can pm me if you want..

Orlando is the closest airport and will have the most flight options. Melbourne is about the same distance or a little farther, but will not have as many flight options. You wouldn't want to take a taxi from either airport to the port.

I get insurance from different companies, depending on when I buy the insurance in relation to when I book the trip. I have shopped for insurance at Insure My Trip (www.insuremytrip.com) and more recently at the Trip Insurance Store (www.tripinsurancestore.com).

YIKES! Well, I'm glad someone asked about the insurance. I also used insuremytrip for my last two cruises. I guess I will just do this again. Thanks for the info! Is there a particular plan on insuremytrip most people get? And don't we have to add it on a certain amount of time after we book our cruise?

Hi everyone, can i ask a question -- i see lots of you in your pricing include no transfers and no insurance..
Can you explain to me why? Do you not use DCL's bus from MCO, do you fly into a different airport?
And, what about insurance.. why do you not elect to get it?

I want to see all angles to see what works best for me..

We usually drive down so no need for tranfers. Now if we fly down we have a house near WDW and keep a car there so we drive to the port.

We've never bought insurance and never needed it. I know others will disagree and say we should get insurance. But I've been traveling my whole life without it, and my parents were the same way. I never knew it was available until I started cruising, but still don't get it.

The other airports available to fly into are Sanford (near Orlando), Melbourne or Daytona. They are all smaller airports and can be expensive if flying from a larger airport. All these airports are roughly the same difference to the port as MCO so you still need to get your own transfers or rent a car.

If you book your own flights you are in control of the times you want to fly and won't have to pay a deviation fee and shop around for the best prices.
Booking your own hotel gives you the same flexibility.
You don't have to rent a car, you can book a private transfer service which can be cheaper than DCL's bus depending on how many people are traveling. But renting a car is the cheapest option and gives you even more flexibility.

jilljill, just wanted to say how envious i am of all your tickers!!!!! LOL.. I am just in awe!

In order to get the waiver of pre-existing conditions - you need to buy your insurance within a certain time period after making your first trip payment. That's generally between 10-21 days. A few companies such as CSA and HTH Worldwide have policies that will cover pre-existing conditions as long as it is purchased within 24 hours of making the final trip payment.

Jill - you've been incredibly lucky! I booked two cruises with my sister, and both times she cancelled during the penalty period because of health issues with her husband. The 2nd time it also affected me, because I had to pay the single supplement when she cancelled. Fortunately - my insurance reimbursed me for that.

I don't buy insurance for non-cruise vacations in the US, but cruises have a much higher penalty if cancelled after the final payment date.

question for someone... Someone posted this information:

8C (Dlx Family Ocean View, 2 connecting) 2A3K $6,555.85 w/ ins, no trans (Deck 8 Fwd)

For the 6/21 5-night double dip... My question is the 6k for 2 rooms? Just trying to guestimate as we are trying to sail with 8, but can't call until Monday so just trying to find out if this is a good quote to use for 2 rooms or if the 6k is for 1 room...

Thanks,
Mark

just reposting as I think i got lost in the mix... Does anyone know if this is the price for 1 room or 2?

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks. This is not the norm for us at all. We've done 8 cruises over the last 10 years, but have 4 booked for the next 2. That's a bad ratio.
Easter 2010 is just a normal WDW vacation.

YES -- buy trip insurance, but not through Disney. My TA always gets our through Travel Insured. After an illness forced a family member to cancel her part of the cruise recently, it saved her hundreds by having the insurance.

I think the time-frame is 10 days from the date of booking for pre-existing to be covered.

We only paid $151 for three adults. Granted, it's only a $2,154 cruise. But if anything happens, we'll get all that back.

After our first cruise in 2000 where we let Disney book our airfare -- never again. They gave us a ridiculous schedule of a late night flight with a change in Atlanta. We had to pay $50/pp as an air deviation fee to get a direct flight. It costs us way too much in the end. Done it myself ever since.

Does anyone have the pricing for the June 12th cruise?
Hoping to celebrate DD's 16th on the new Dream!

Found my answer in the next thread...need to stop trying to read on iPhone.

I saw the large warning about posting on the other thread so I wanted to thank you over here for listing the breakdown of your prices. I'm so excited that these prices are coming in so much better than I expected! :cool1: This is about what we paid for our last cruise in a cat 12! At these prices maybe I can convince DH to spend a few extra days at WDW ;) Thanks again!

P.S. Though you almost gave me a heartattack on the taxes -- at first I read $166 per person and this was me: :scared1:, thinking "Taxes are high, but C'MON already!!" But I finally figured out the math ;)

I thought this was a good price -
2/17/11 3-night cruise
1 adult, 1 junior
cat 11c, no transfers no insurance
$912.00
booked room 2025

this is presidents weekend.

Questions--What time can you book on Monday--midnight? Is it better to book through a TA or to book yourself? Thanks

I called the Disney Cruise Line direct and they said 8:00 a.m. They said some travel agents are coming in early and the lines will probably be tied up and the internet jammed! So, there probably will be a wait!!!

Does anyone have a price for the 4 day Bahamian Cruise June 17th or July 1st? Looking at possibly 2 adults, 2 children in one cabin and 2 adults in a second cabin, 5E Deluxe with verandah (not whitewall) or 5D Deluxe with verandah?

Sandy

Sorry but Ive been searching the pages looking for pricing on a 5 nt cruise Cat 8D, 2A/2C for july 10 and Aug 2. Can anyone help? Thanks

I checked DCL site for Dream sail dates, it looked like the displayed 'sail dates' pages are for all 3 ships. Is there an easier way to find which dates are for Dream? I am looking for April, June-July 2011. Thanks!
