Hi,
My husband and I are going on our first Disney cruise in November. Do the ships (the Dream, specifically) decorate for the holidays? If so, would the beginning of November be a Halloween or Christmas theme?
Thanks!

For the past 3 years we have gone the first week or so of November. There are no Halloween decorations, however when we are in line getting off the ship they are wheeling the Christmas trees on and starting the huge gingerbread house.... smells delish!

I read last year that the Dream decorated about the 12th or something near that date. I sail the 4th, so I'll miss it by 1 or 2 cruises...bummer.

This was pretty much our experience last year, Nov 4-7. Nothing for Halloween, but they were starting to construct the house and does smell DELICIOUS!

We were on the Dream last year B2B 10/30-11/3 and 11/3-11/6 and the Halloween decorations were being removed early the morning of the turnover day-11/3 and when we got back on board an hour or so after getting off there were a few Christmas decorations up - the stores especially - where Halloween had been Christmas was now in it's place. There was a little bit of greenery about the ship too but nothing big.

My kids will be going on the Dream on the 11th--so there is a good chance that there will be some holiday decorations?:thumbsup2

We cruised on the Dream for Halloween last year. I noticed that Halloween decorations started disappearing in the morning on Nov. 1 and by that evening a significant amount of them were gone. Upon completion of our cruise there weren't any Halloween decorations left.

Yes. We were on the November 13, 2011 Dream cruise. DCL was putting up decorations during our cruise, including decorating the tree and gingerbread house. MJ, one of the moderators, was on the same cruise and has posted photos of those decorations on this forum.

We'll be on the Dream November 1st, so I doubt we'll see any holiday decorations. That's fine with me though. We were on a Thanksgiving cruise one year and I actually didn't like seeing all the Christmas stuff up that early. I know I'm an oddball though. ;) I wanted a "tropical feel" on the cruise and Christmas decorations kind of ruined that for me.

maurrybs ~ Are you on the 11/1 cruise?
BTW, I'm originally from the Buffalo area. Go Sabres! Can't wait for the season to start.

This makes me very happy, we are cruising the end of November! Christmas Disney style is always amazing in my book!

I have just booked the November 10th to 17th cruise on the Magic and I am quietly hoping that the Christmas decorations will be up for at least part of the cruise. Does anybody remember when they put the Christmas decorations on the ships up last year.

We were on the Nov '13 2011 4 night cruise on the Dream and many of the Christmas decorations were already up. They were working on construction of the big gingerbread house in the atrium during the cruise.

We were on Nov 12, 2011 Magic western and the tree was fully decorated. Other decorations were up also. We got to watch the construction of the gingerbread house, which I thought was really neat. When we boarded the ship it was just a frame and by the time we got off it was complete with all the characters around it. I took pics of the progress, makes a neat time lapse sequence.

Can you post those please? That sounds awesome.

Wow - thats great news. We will be cruising next November 10th (2013) for our 5 year anniversary with about 12 of our friends - and had not even thought of decorations. Will be great for holiday cards next year.

Do people eat it when they take it down??

I've never been on while it's been taken down, but I'd have to guess no. By the time it comes down, it's been on display for close to 2 months, so I'm sure it'd be stale and gross. ;) LOL!

Glad I was able to share my pics. :goodvibes
