Disney Dream November 2-6, 2015 FE Group

Hi @lsthompson3 - :welcome:

It's a group you sign up for where fellow passengers give you little gifts and you gift them in return. There are usually 10-20 cabins signed up and you can either give one gift per cabin or one gift per person in the cabin. You put the gifts into a Fish Extender, which looks like a shoe organizer hanging outside your room. You can deliver your gifts anytime during the groups and it's just a fun little surprise to make the cruise more magical. There are lots of more detailed explanations if you google 'fish extender', but that pretty much sums it up.

Our FE groups have all filled up, but if you head over to FB and search 'Disney Dream November 2-6th 2015' they just added a 'late late comers group' to a pinned post at the top of the page that you can add your name to and see if others do the same. They usually close out the groups at the 45 day mark, so folks have time to get their gifts ready.

Hello fellow cruisers,

I'm so glad someone started a link!

I am from the Kansas City area and this is our first Disney Cruise. We are thrilled to participate in the FE program. We are a family of four, Karen (me), Ben, Celie (14) and Dominic (12). We are not celebrating anything during our trip. My daughter likes, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Elsa, and Ariel. My son likes Mickey and Donald.

We do not have any allergies and alcohol is fine.

Karen
I guess I should add our stateroom: 10024. We are looking forward to our cruise!

An update on favorite characters: Add the Star Wars characters to Dominic's list.

Hi Here are a update for the FISH EXTENDER Gifts only is missing the Cabin Number for Kckaren. If you have any question please contact me I'm verry happy and excited with this trip.

Milly
Hi Milly!

My stateroom number is 10024.

Thanks!
Karen (kckaren)

Hi Disney Dreamers :) My family of 5 from Ohio will be sailing on the Dream Nov. 2nd as well. We would love to participate in the Fish Extenders. My 3 children are older but still love to have fun and make gifts. Denise is 16, Billy is 13, and Lydia will be 12. Any characters are welcome, no allergies, and we don't mind alcohol products. Their room number is Aft 7689.

Family of 5... Hi Ashley... you mention 5 in the post but there are only 4 names. Traveling with hubby? What's his name?

Awesome! We are so excited! As it gets closer we can definitely set something up! And I'm always up for a mani pedi or a drink - or both!!!

As much as a "Mani or Pedi" sound like a great idea (and god knows I need them), would any of you ladies happen to know if any of the guys have any plans? I am not saying that I would mind sitting around with my wife with cucumbers on my eyelids talking about how to hot glue pictures on to magnets but I do understand she needs "Her time." Besides, the Blackhawks play twice during our cruise and there is nothing better than sitting around with a bunch of guys arguing about which sports team is better, eating hot wings, and drinking vast quantities of beer.

Thank you. THAT made me laugh out loud!

Sorry I can’t help with your location of more manly activities and Dad friends looking to escape Princess Meets and Cucumber facials. My own husband will probably be meandering aimlessly looking for non-Disney activities while I am hanging out in the spa and our daughter is at the kids club forgetting she has parents. But while he is always up for wings (being from upstate New York and all), I am pretty sure he’ll be looking for tvs that are showing reruns of Star Trek or NCIS rather than the Blackhawks’ games. That’s hockey, right? ;)

On a more serious note, the FB group is organizing a Meet & Greet (3-3:30 Vista Café) and you may find some like-minded souls there. In fact, if your user name is any indication of who you are ... your wife ( @kciolino ) is the one organizing it ;)

@Ashley Chipps - just sent you a PM as a reminder to let the group know whether there is another cabin we should have on our list. At the moment all we have is the one with your children.

So since this is my first time doing FE, is there a set day you start delivering them? Do a little at a time? Has it ever happened that room ran out of the pockets? LOL
It's crunch time! I need to make 7 shirts for the family (why did I decide to do all of them???) and there are a few FE gifts left to do. Oh and I have to get my stitch removed Thursday. Yep lots to do!

@kciolino had posted some guidelines on th FB group that I will reuse here :)

It is suggested that you put a plastic bag behind your extender for any over flow gifts.
Please deliver anytime after five sail away day and before five the last night to give people time to unpack and pack the extenders
If you can try to deliver items not meant to be used on the cruise later days because everyone delivers early and things start to slow down after the first day or two.
If you get items you don't want put them in someone else's extender. No need to toss what others may love!
If you have small children be advised that some homemade gifts however thoughtful may not be appropriate for then so check items carefully.
Someone's items are bound to get the wrappings crushed in transport. It's not s big deal. We like gifts in crushed wrapping still!
If you have any issues write it on the board of my room but please refrain from knocking because I'm in groups with 40 some cabins and like to take naps. Lol
It is also suggested to break the ship into sections rather than floors to deliver. Do all the forward cabins, mid and then aft. Make good use of the elevators and you won't spend so much time walking around the ship.
As a reminder all cabins in FE are expected to deliver a gift to every cabin in their group. Family family or individual is fine.

BTW - hope you're feeling better soon - sorry to hear about the stitches.

HI DIS Group, Sorry for the lack of attention from me, I completely forgot about it. We have 2 rooms, but my children are all in 1 room, my husband and I have the room next door but no FE needed. I'm at work telling myself how much I need a vacation! Hoping we have beautiful weather! See you all soon!
