This is the only ship I have not done.

Debating about this ship....my only concern is I don't like Nassau.

What's the huge differences with this ship.

Thoughts and concerns?

I would welcome any advice.

We have done 12 Disney cruises and have also never been on The Dream, I am hoping they will change up the itineraries to make me want to give her a try.
Maybe switch her and The Fantasy up for a season or 2.

When we did the Dream it was a little overwhelming for only a 4-night cruise -- at that time it was the biggest ship we had been on and didn't feel there was enough time to see/do everything it had to offer. When we did the Fantasy, it was much more relaxing -- but I must admit I don't recall any huge differences between the two.

When the Dream was launched, I just remember we were very disappointed she was filling the Wonder's itinerary of 3 and 4 night instead of being put to use for longer cruises.

Nassau has two things we have done and enjoyed -- the Pirate Museum, and spending the day at Atlantis (we did the DCL excursion which included transportation and time on our own). Their acquarium is great and the grounds are just gorgeous -- with turtle pools, fish ponds, etc.

If you want to say you have done all four ships, then it might be worth it.

It's almost identical to the Fantasy, if you enjoyed that ship there's no reason you shouldn't like the Dream. The biggest differences are:

- The adults areas whilst laid out virtually the same, the bars/venues are differently themed and have different names (eg The Tube on the Fantasy is Evolution on the Dream)
- The Dream has Vanellope's sweet shop which isn't on any of the other ships (it's where the Arcade is on the Fantasy)
- The overall 'theming' of the ship is Art Deco (like the Magic) in contrast with Art Nouveau on the Wonder and Fantasy. This basically comes down to design things like the theming in public areas.

My first cruise was on the Dream and honestly I couldn't remember much of the ship - getting on the Fantasy last year it came flooding back, they are that similar.

As for Nassau, I didn't really like it either. As it's only a shorter cruise - maybe stay on board and take advantage of everything on the ship :)

We sailed The Dream for our 25th anniversary and was our first cruise ever. We LOVED it! I've sailed on her 4 times now and it's still as exciting as the first time! She is exactly like the Fantasy with the exception of the theme in the adult areas and the color scheme of the ship. The Fantasy has the beautiful peacock blue colors and the Dream has the nautical navy blue colors. I liken it to the Beach Club Resort vs. the Yacht Club Resort at WDW. The passenger atmosphere is a bit different as has already been said. The Dream passengers mostly seem to be on a little bit of a faster pace because of the shorter length but my first step on the Fantasy I felt like I had just entered "island time"! Nassau isn't that great but it's a good day to stay on the ship and explore or eat lunch in one of the main dining rooms. Because it's a 4 day cruise you won't have time to do it all, but your advantage is that you've been on the other ships and can skip over all the things that are similar and just enjoy the relaxing time aboard and enjoy the beauty of the ship! I say book it!! Enjoy your cruise!! :)

Good example!

The itineraries and short lengths are why we haven't done Dream either. With such a big ship and so many bells and whistles, I really wish they would change the rotation so Fantasy and Dream were dedicated Caribbean ships with one going east each week and one going west, or at least on dedicated 7 nights itineraries, wherever they go. Save the short trips for the smaller ships where there's less time to get things done on the ship anyway. My kids really want to cruise Dream because it's the only one we haven't been on so we're probably going to do a B2B. 7 nights, 2 stops at Castaway Cay and we'll just enjoy a quiet ship when she's docked in Nassau.

We sailed on the Dream last fall because it was the only ship we hadn't sailed. It is just like the Fantasy but the vibe is so different. As previous posters have said, your fellow cruisers are a bit more hectic and frantic trying to get it all crammed in and the staff are not as personable because there is less time for them to get to know you. We stayed on the shop at Nassau thinking we could enjoy the ship, the pool and the aqua duck without fighting the crowds... Well, it seemed like everyone else had the same idea. Even Castaway Cay was more hectic because of the sheer number of passebgers. Don't get me wrong- the Dream is a beautiful ship but her short cruises really affect the overall vibe.

Thats my fear about the Dream since its short, would be the crowds. I hope maybe 2017 it will have different agenda......plus I feel when I look at rates the Dream is always the higher one of the cruises even though its 3 and 4 days, I feel I can get a better deal on another ship and get to stay longer..

Oh well....

One day I will do it.

We love The Dream! We don't care for Nassau but we love the empty ship and staying on board whilst others leave. Consider a back to back. We do one in September. A 3 night followed by 4 nights. It is cheaper than 7 days on The Fantasy. 2 stops to Castaway Cay and enjoy the ship 2 days for Nassau. Also we were lucky to do concierge for my birthday this is delightful if your budget will allow.

The 3 night is too short.

I've sailed on the Dream 6 times. If you've been on the Fantasy, you'll be at home there. I agree, the shorter cruises can feel a bit rushed. I have only done a sea lion excursion out of Nassau (years ago); normally I stay onboard and enjoy myself. More and more cruisers do this in my experience so it isn't a guarantee of an "empty" ship but it can be a bit calmer than usual. If you want to check it off and have "all four" before the new 2, then why not?

I was in the same situation where I had sailed on all the Disney ships multiple times with the exception of the Disney Dream. Nevertheless I did cruise on the Dream last November and I had a great time. I went scuba diving in Nassau and I didn't have to deal with the normal stuff around the Nassau port area, nevertheless if you don't like Nassau you can just stay on the ship. I would suggest you jump on board the Dream and complete your grand slam. Good luck with your decision.

My family doesn't like Nassau either. We stay on board and enjoy the amenities there with low crowds. That said, I am hard pressed to take another trip on The Dream with that itinerary. If I were you, I'd do it just to say I did. :cutie:
