Disney Dream May 1, 2011

We are taking out first cruise ever on the May 1st sailing. Very excited. We're on deck 8 and we're hoping we have a good room.

My family booked a while ago, and I've been lurking since then...didn't want to jinx anything.:confused3 Well it will be my hubby (29), myself (28) and our 4 year old son. We had an adjoining room with my mom and the DH's mom...but they both backed out...so here we are...and there we'll be. Looks like my jinx theory didn't hold up so well. What am I talking about? At least WE'RE still going.:cheer2:

Just moved from May 8th cruise to this one. Got a good deal on GTY 11 saving $500. Don't care what room I am in as long as I am on the ship. Curious about inside stateroom virtual window. Looks like something kids will enjoy. See u there!!!!

292 Days and counting. :thumbsup2

Happy to see more DIS cruisers for our sailing!

byejou - glad to hear you got the cruise for less, I am hoping for a Florida resident rate to be released for that sailing so we can get a lower rate too. :thumbsup2

I broke down and upgraded to a cat 4b from 5d. I haven't been on a cruise before and i know the rooms are small. I just couldn't see beyond having a little extra space. we'll see if it's worth it!:goodvibes

I booked this cruise for our son's 5th birthday a few weeks ago. My husband thinks I am crazy because I can't stop reading forums, pa rousing cruise wear, and picking up scrapbooking items. I am so excited that there are others just as excited as I am. Is anyone planning on doing fishextenders? I know my son would get a big kick out of little surprises, especially on his bday.

Nice to "meet" you all!

:thumbsup2 I'm definitely interested. Hopefully, it won't just be the 2 of us! :rotfl:

This is my first disney cruise and I think that my Daughter who will be 7 at time of cruise would love the fish extender idea. I am glad to see others posting their excitement over the cruise. My husband thinks I am insane to be this excited over something that is over 7 months away. I am from Texas how about everyone else? Dream2011

We're from Tampa and at the time we sail my son will be 8 y.o. and my daughter will be 5 1/2 y.o. We might do the extenders, I am just concerned about it being time consuming for me but I know the kids would love it. As it gets closer we will see. The time is flying by. Can't wait!!!

Oh TRUST me........I AM EXCITED :dance3:

I check my online account daily. We only booked GTY and I am hoping for pixie dust to arrive early and give me a room assignment so I know if I have to upgrade.;)

Debating on pre-cruise trip to the World or just the cruise this year. HMMMMMM

I have been reading posts on the boards and hear some alarming concerns about the Dream. Mostly it holds up to 4000 passengers  and has Disney really thought about that with the size of the pools. On the Wonder and Magic the adult area is flooded with lounge chairs and from the photos the Dream has maybe 6 mounted in the pool area and a few on deck around the pool. Plus the bar/lounge overlooking the adult pool is open to anyone including children, so really how quite will the pool area be? Next, Castaway Cay........can it peacefully and equally hold and feed 4000 people? :sad2: I really do not want to have to rent a Cabana for $500 just to have a spot on the beach.

I am really anticipating reviews come January!!!!!!!! popcorn::

I know!!! Ive been worried about the adult pool area too, I would like to enjoy the in pool lounge chairs I guess I can wake up at 7am to get one..lol
but I wont worry troo much untill it sails in jan and we start hearing reviews.
wow $500 for a cabana? add that to however much remy is going to be its gona get expensive quick. the wife and I are doing a post cruise stay at wdw so I say go for the pre cruise stay!!!!:thumbsup2

Just checking in to say I am very excited too! Especially only 7 months to go. :cool1:

I made a reservation at Animal Kingdom Kidani for 2 nights after the cruise. This will be our 5th four night Disney cruise and we've always gone someplace afterward - BUT it hasn't worked out yet to where we get to stay and finish our vacation. After this years Wonder cruise we headed to Vero for what should have been 3 nights. Right after check in, my 7 year old got REAAALLLLLYYYY sick. Like I think the cruise virus. It was ugly. So we had to head out the next morning and head home. So here is to hoping for better luck next time!

We are in an 8C. Did any of you see this blurb : The new Disney ships will carry 50% more passengers than the existing ones, necessitating the permanent addition of a third showtime. Showtimes have been assigned automatically to existing reservations. For new reservations, you'll now need to choose both a dining and a showtime when your reservation is made - 6pm di...ning and either 5pm or 9pm show, or 830pm dining and either 5pm or 7pm show.

So does that mean we got no option as to when we prefer our showtimes?

from what ive been reading is that you can change this in your itinerary i looked at mine last night and it says that it cant be changed yet. but ive been enjoying the thread about it.

Just modified my dining. We had main, now main with 9pm show. There was a main with 5pm show but then when is your dining?

Thank goodness for these boards and Facebook, which is where I originally saw the info about this new change. I just sent an email to my TA asking what show time we have been assigned. We have main dining but I want a late show - not a 5pm show! That would mean having everybody head to the room at around 3pm to start getting ready. No way!

I was able to successfully switch my 8:30 dinner and 5:00 show time with an 8:30 dinner and 7:00 show time. There was NO problem doing this 2 days ago through my TA...DU. We are also staying at Kidani after the cruise...for 3 nights. I am SUPER excited about everything. We're in room 5656 and I CAN'T WAIT!

I would like to know this myself because we are booked in main dining and I just found out we are also booked for the 5pm show. I had my TA call and try to get us in the 9pm show and they said we had to wait list. Well, you know how that goes. I am double upset because I just last week let a travel agent convince me to move my reservation over to them - and this is EXACTLY why I did not want to do that. Now I have to go through my TA for everything and clearly DCL makes the TA customers waitlist. I am not a happy camper. Sorry to vent to you guys! Just not happy.
