Disney Dream March 31, 2011

I think my mom is going to go. It will be different, but it still will be fun. DH says I should take my dad, but I don't think my mom wil llet him because she wants to go. :lmao:

I am so sorry that it won't work out with DH. I would be so disappointed, but it will be a fun trip with your mother! I bet she is excited to get a surprise cruise with her daughter. You can make some special memories with her, and now you have a good reason to book a cruise on board for next time with hubby!!:rotfl:

Getting so excited...it is almost here!! Just finishing up my gifts for the FE. I think I am giving just one large gift, instead of one every night. Anyone else doing this?? Just wondering what the protocal is, I have never done the FE before. Can't wait!! Happy St. Patricks's Day!!:thumbsup2

People normally just do a gift once on the cruise, not every night. But with all the people involved, you will get a gift every night. Some people do a bunch of little gifts, one gift for the family, just gifts for the kids, or a variety of all of the above. For this cruise, I put everything in one envelope for the family to pick what they want.

I am so excited that we made homemade Konk Koolers (the signature drink of Castaway Cay.) Mine aren't as good as the real thing, but they sure are stronger.

It looks like mom will be going. She is just going to clear it with her immediate boss today. She is a boss herself :rotfl: so it shouldn't be too hard. The funny thing is, my dad wants to go too. (he used to never hardly go on vacation when I was a kid.) So I called up DCL to see if he could be added. The CM told me that he couldn't. It's not because of the room (which she couldn't tell if it held up to 4) but because the cruise was at maximum capacity for lifeboats, etc. She said, if someone else cancels between now and then, he could be added, but that would mean I would have to call everyday and check. My mom wants me to keep checking, but that is a pain in the rear.
Anyways, Dad may fly down on Sunday and then spend the next few days with us at Disney. My DD was disappointed to find out DH isn't coming, but she was happy to know that Grandma is.

I justh have a bag with my things in it. WE will deliver them on 1 night.

Jenseib I am glad your mom could go.
We are doing just one F/E bag per family with stuff for adults and kids all together. The trip is just too short to deliver multiple times.

I signed up (when I booked the trip) for Mickey to call my kids and tell them he was excited to see them on the ship. Well, he called last night. It was a cute recording that welcomed them to the cruise and mantioned the Bahamas, etc. I loved it. They weren't as excited as I was!!!

We leave for FL in a week! It can not come fast enough. One of my students (I teach high school) will be on the four day right before me, so with all of you B2Bers. We have been keeping our class entertained with our plans and excitement! See you soon!

It's official! My mom is coming with me. I don't know if anyone needs to know anything for FE's, but her name is Paula. She will be in my room! :goodvibes
She's very excited.
if anyone wants to know, the fee to change a passenger is $50!

Is your student signed up for the FE thing? The 4 day has a HUGE group, 36 cabins with around 120 people. I haven't even started on putting all those together. :scared1: Once I get DD's birthday party over this week, we can focus solely on the cruise.

Very cool...Konk Koolers!! I have heard of those. Will definitely have to try those.

We leave for Florida (from our home in Philly) this Wednesday. We'll be with my dad and his wife in Pompano Beach for a week before we rent a car and drive up to Port Canaveral.

So we're all getting really excited and packing and planning.

I made our fish extender (yes, "made"...it's not exactly a work of art, but it should do the job).

We are very ready for some sunny warm weather. Can't wait!!!!!

We live in Jacksonville and our weather has been so nice and warm this past week and will be nice this coming week! So welcome to Florida - our weather should get you ready for our cruise on March 31! :thumbsup2

I agree..the weather in FL has been perfect! It was 68 degree when we woke up this morning in Cocoa.

I am soooo excited!! Just logged in to our reservation...again...for it to remind me we only have 9 DAYS left before our cruise:cool1: The best part is the KIDS still don't know. They know we are going to Disney for spring break, but we've been keeping the cruise a secret since last June. :rotfl:

Yay, but isn't it 10 days till we cruise? I guess it might have to do with how you do the math...LOL!

Yeah, it depends how you count it. There are 9 days "between" today and the 31st (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30), but from today until the 31st is 10 days (Mon to Tues to Wed to Thurs to Fri to Sat to Sun to Mon to Tues to Wed to Thurs).

Can you tell I'm on my lunch break.

That's awesome about keeping the cruise a secret from your kids, NickyDa, that'll be a priceless moment when they find out.

We did a surprise cruise last August. We had packed everything in secret then woke them up the morning of the cruise. We videotaped them as we told them to get dressed in a hurry because we were going on a Disney cruise. It was so worth it for the surprise reaction.

I keep bothering people at work by saying "One week from now, I'll be...." since we're doing the b2b. I managed to get off work during one of our busiest times, the Grand Prix is in town. So I guess I am really rubbing it in.

Not sure about my student doing the FE. Her name is Amanda and she is travelling with another family (not hers) with a second teen girl (both are 15). I'll have to ask her. We leave for FL on Saturday and I just packed up my FE gifts. I can't imagine where I would put gifts for all of those cabins if we were doing B2B! Only 4 more days of work!!!!

Hey everyone!!

Fish exchange gifts done and have started packing!!! So excited!! We leave Saturday for POFQ!!

Kelly:thumbsup2

12 hours from now we will be on our way, provided the wicked winter storm we are expecting doesn't prevent us from leaving :scared1:. The storm system is all across Southern MB and into North Dakota and Western Minnesota. We are hoping to make Fargo, ND tomorrow night. So fingers crossed and a perhaps a little pixiedust: from all my DIS friends wouldnt hurt either. See you all on board in 227 hours :yay:

Sending pixie dust out to everyone for safe travels to the port!! We are going over to Orlando Saturday to Universal Studios and driving to the port Sunday morning for the first leg of our back to back!!
Having a few mild health issues with the kids, but sure we will all be healthy for the cruise. Just getting all excited trying to pack and get the house together before we leave.
Hard to believe it is almost here!! Two more nights of work, then I can focus 100% on the important stuff...:rotfl:
Have a great week everyone!!

Mel :banana::banana::banana::idea:
