Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

We got our cruise docs in today PLUS my MIL got her passport in so I guess all of the extra paperwork she submitted was acceptable.

Did you see who won the Kentucky Derby today? A horse named Animal Kingdom that was a longshot at 20-1. I bet there were a few happy Disney fans that made a bet just on the name (I would have)...a $2 bet would have paid over $40

How Cool! I would have bet that if I'd gotten a chance to get a ticket:goodvibes

Welcome MamaJean!

Tammy - I'm glad you posted about the DisMeet time and place. Somehow I had missed that! Need to add it to my notes for the cruise.

Hope all the mom's had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday! :goodvibes

Glad people have posted that they've gotten their cruise documents. I knew it was close to time to expect them. So I will definately start keeping my eye out for them. Can't believe how close the cruise is getting!

Today is the start of an incredibly hectic week for us. Rowan has the final for her dual credit History course today. Tomorrow is her AP French Test. Wednesday she turns 17 and takes her AP English Language Test. Thursday is the Journalism banquet. Friday is Six Flags for her Phsyics class. Definately be ready for the cruise after this week!

Happy belated Mother's Day to all the moms. Mine was great visiting with DIS friends in VA:hug:

Tracy, my son just finished his last college on Monday. I'm picking him up from college on Thursday(he has to wait till my day off)
But I know he's glad to come home and looking forward to this trip also.

Your daughter definitely deserves it too! What a tough week:eek:

We had a wonderful trip to DC and VA, but how exciting to come home to cruise docs!

DOC DANCE!

:dance3::cheer2::dance3::yay::woohoo::cheer2::dance3:

Dress up night will be in all three rotation restaurants. Although the Pirate Night Party later in the evening is on the deck, those who choose to dress up for Pirate Night do so also for dinner. The waiters will be dressed up for Pirate Night in each of the restaurants.pirate:

Tammy, thanks!! Thats all great information! :cool1: I can't wait for Pirate Night!!!pirate: So...how "Dress up" is the dress up? I have 2 boys and 1 girl. So are khakis and polos good and my daughter a dress? How about women? Dressier than sundresses? Maybe more like church clothes? Sorry to ask so many questions I am getting all of the shopping done and I don't want to show up wearing the wrong thing!!:confused3

It gets worse, LOL. Rowan got her driver's license in December, we've been waiting for her actual hard license to arrive in the mail since then. FINALLY, last night she gets her license. BUT... there's no picture on it AND it expires tomorrow on her birthday. Appearantly she has to renew it every year :headache: She needs a Verification of Enrollment form from her school which will take a day. So tomorrow is her last day to drive until she gets the form and I'm able to take off work and drive her up to the DL office to renew it:headache: Means Mom's Taxi service is back in business.

On the up side, our cruise documents were in the mail too!! :cheer2::cheer2:

No cruise docs here yet. I know they have to go to my TA first but hopefully I will have them in a few days. I should also get my WDW docs soon too. My TA might just wait and send them all at once - so it may still be a week or two before I actually get mine in my hands.

We did decide to cancel the Discover Atlantis excursion in Nassau. We just plan on getting off the ship for a little while and checking some things out at the port - nothing definite we need to see or do. DH mentioned the Pirate Museum - does anyone know much about the cost or if it is worth it? I really am over the whole pirate thing and the rest of the family is not pirate crazy either.

24 days to go .....

Well, our cruise documents showed up yesterday, which reminded me I have not been on this thread for months. It is getting close now!

I was looking at a thread on the main page where there are discussions about which area to send the kids to when they are near an age break. The breaks on the Dream are different that they used to be on the Magic and Wonder. My DD turns 11 in September and I'm trying to decide if I should let her try and move up to the tween club or just do the lab again. I noticed a bunch of 10 year olds listed on the first page and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the subject.

As far as dress up, it varies. Some people like to get really dressed up and some just a little. Some don't dress up at all, just stick to wearing casual. From what I hear, usually DCL will not turn anyone away as long as they are decent. My last cruise (also my first) we wore slacks and nice shirts/blouses. This time my DD and I decided to wear regular black dresses, nothing fancy, for the dress up night. On the other nights, we will wear slacks/blouses.

Good Afternoon Fellow Cruisers!!!

We have not received our documents yet! Steve's Aunt did though! Hopefully, ours are not far behind!!

Connor stayed home today. He had a sour stomach this morning..but seems to be better now. He also went to the ortho yesterday for his final adjustment! They also added SIX rubberbands! He has never had rubberbands in the 3 years he's had braces. I am excited that he won't have braces for the cruise! I am hoping for some nice photos!!

Rose! welcome home!! Can't wait to see pictures and hear about the trip!

As for dress....we are just following KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid! (I'm NOT calling anyone stupid...it's JUST a saying!) We are going to bring 3 outfits to mix and match over the 5 nights...slacks, capris, polos, shirts and tops. Not bringing any dresses....I am not really a dress person. Oh, we have a Jack Sparrow shirt and we have polo shirts with skull and crossbones on them, so we'll probably bring one of those to wear for Pirate night. just keeping it simple....

Out to enjoy the sun for a little.....suppose to storm later! We had the wettest April on record since 1895!! The theme the weatherman has...."When it warms, it storms!" and it's true!!

Hi everyone!

I got back last night from FL and on the pile of mail that had accumulated over the weekend was -----

:dance3: CRUISE DOCS!! :dance3:

DH had just tossed them there with the other, boring regular mail :eek: - as if they were not GOLDEN pieces of preciousness!! :rotfl::rotfl2:

I had a great visit with my mom, grandparents, and my brother - who now holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree! :yay: So proud of him for all the hard work over the past 4 years. It's been a journey. :goodvibes

We don't have long now! I'm getting super-excited and a little anxious about the "details" now - like the car rental, hotels, plans for the day before, etc. I am not going to "over plan" this time, it makes me crazy. :upsidedow So I'm thinking we'll wing it the day before.. probably go to Cocoa Beach, Ron Jon Surfshop, liquor store, etc. I thought I'd wait until that day to get most of the stuff like sunscreen, etc. so we're not hauling it all down there on the plane. :thumbsup2

You don't even have to dress up if you don't wish too. It's optional.
Some women might wear a short semi formal dress on this dress up night, there is no formal night on this cruise.
Others might come in sundresses or nice pants and a blouse.
It would all be fine.
I believe it is even ok to wear jeans at dinner. I've heard people say they have.
So don't worry, anything will be fine.

Wow, is that standard in Texas to have to renew young person's liscense every year?

I thought that the new way they're doing things is that the kids can decide where they want to go at any time, any club, well perhaps the younger ones can't go into the teen club, but I believe any of the other ones.

Hurray that Connor will be getting his braces off!:thumbsup2:cool1:

Michele, our trip was great! Great weather too. It beats going in August, boy was that hot!
We did a lot in just a couple of days.
2 of the major Smithsonians, the Air and Space and Natural History.
We went to the Pentagon but they cancelled our tour:headache:
Up to Ford's theatre but couldn't get in that day, so just took pics outside.
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
A tour of the Capitol, and our Congresswoman gave us passes to the House and Senate. Senate was closed but we got to sit in the gallery at the House (thought there was nothing going on and no pics allowed).
Library of Congress.
Old Town for some eating and browsing (too expensive to shop much)
The Lincoln memorial.
We also got in for a White House tour and did Arlington cemetery.

That was Thursday, Friday, Saturday morning (and Arlington on Monday before we headed home)

But Saturday evening we met up with other Diser friends.
Paige (disgrits) and her husband Rob and 2 of her children were there.
That was great! Thanks for meeting up with us Paige!:grouphug:
Then we went to stay at our other friend's home in VA.
They took us to Montpelier Mansion, James Madison's home for a tour and they were having a wine tasting festival there on Mother's Day. It was a great day:goodvibes

Great trip!
I'm actually glad that I did it separate with Sean last year and Bob this year because their interests were very different.
Sean read EVERY placard in every museum! I had to keep telling him we had to get moving.... but he was so interested in history and science.
Bob wanted to look at all the buildings architecture, he thought it was all amazing.
So, it worked out well this way.

As for pics, I'll try and get a few on here. We didn't take as many because Bob knew that Sean and I took so many last summer.
But I'll post a few in a couple of days:goodvibes

They said that about our Syracuse NY area too! Going back to when they had records for, which says about 1902.

Yay Angela! Just like me coming home too and finding mine!
Bob wasn't as excited.
As I was opening the envelope, I stopped and told Bob "Wait! I need a ceremonial glass of wine before I open this special envelope!":thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Glad you also had a nice trip and Hurray for your brother!:yay::woohoo:

We went on our last cruise and I enjoyed it, but I think everyone else was only mildly interested. It wasn't very expensive (otherwise we wouldn't have gone in) and I just looked and the website and it says $12 but I really don't think it was that much...I want to say it was closer to $8 but it may have been a special or something because the place was empty when we went...I don't remember seeing anyone else until the very end when we were sitting in the courtyard. There isn't much too it, you just walk through and read what you want, prob takes about 30-45 minutes depending on your pace...I have been debating on going again by myself while the wife and kids are off doing their excursion so I can enjoy it again. It's fairly close to everything so it's only a short walk from the ship.
