Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Wish me luck. Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to make the Palo chocolate souffle. It is our anniversary on Sunday, so I'm going to try to surprise my DH with a nice dinner tomorrow. The only thing for sure on the menu is the dessert. I'm still trying to figure out the rest of the menu.

Good Luck and Happy Anniversary. Hope it turns out well. I know it looks really good in the pictures I have seen of it posted.

Let us know how it turns out.

Hi! We are currently booked on the May 29 DD Dream, but are switching to the June 12 tomorrow. We are REALLY good friends with marcij and family, and can't wait to sail with everyone! Cast will be Me (Denise), DH (John), and our BBG triplets (Davis, Rees, and Brantley-Kate). They will turn 11 a few days after the cruise. My parents, Jim and Beth, are also cruising with us (their 1st DCL). We will be celebrating my mom's b'day and the trio's b'day. We should be on Deck 8 in connecting Cat 4B's. We'd love to participate in any activities and the FE exchange.

:welcome: Denise and family. We are glad that you will be joining us.:cheer2:

Ugh, I feel for you!! 2 summers ago our A/C was hit by lightening (least that's what they said!) and we had no A/C upstairs for almost 2 weeks! The boys instantly brought down sleeping bags for the family room, By the end of the first week Steve and I moved the dining room table over and threw down the sleeper sofa matress on the floor! My house looked like a dorm!!! I didn't care who came over! LOL At least we could sleep!

I am starting to get eager for people to get on the Dream so they can post stuff about it!! Are there Fish Extenders? or Starfish? or Seahorses? How are the rooms? Are they crowded since they are smaller? Is it noticable? Is Deck 4 just as peaceful? How are the pools? Is the Aquaduck as cool as it looks? And the food!! What's new? What's not to miss? Can I even get a souffle?? So many questions!!!!!
Michele
I couldn't imagine not having a/c for two weeks!! We wen't less than a day...and it was crazy!! Luckily ds went to his aunt and uncles for the night. I have never been so happy to sleep in my comfy bed as I was the next night....LOL

I can't wait till the first group of cruisers come back either!!! There are so many things I'd love to find out!!

That is early...ds starts on August 12, and that is early to me! I think it is great she is looking forward to being a first grader!!

We just had our TA make another payment towards the cruise!! Of course we are using the Disney credit card to earn those Disney Dream Reward dollars to use on the cruise!!:goodvibes :cheer2:

We did some school shopping yesterday for ds (clothes). Have to wait for school supplies until he starts school to get his list.

I was excited to see the post above about the testing of the Disney Dream engines! Very cool!! My TA (and good friend) is going on the first cruise!!! Then she is going again in March...but wishing she would change the date to our cruise!:wizard:

I'm so excited, we just booked our flights. :cool1:
I could not believe it when I saw the fares. We have always had to drive a couple hours to a bigger airport to get decent fares. Somehow, we just got lucky and the cheapest fares were from Des Moines.
Looks like we might book the Radisson at the Port. It is under $100 per night if you pre-pay right now.

That's great. Wish I could book my flights now, but Southwest is only booking through Jan. 7th right now (New Orleans to Orlando).:sad2: But I'll keep watching and as soon as my dates come up, I'll watch for the best fares. We plan on staying at the MCO Hyatt (already booked the room):) and taking DCL transportation to the Port.

Interesting thread about the best time to board DCL
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2511340

I've gotten there early before and hung out with other DISer's but I do like to
be able to just about walk right on board by coming just after noon.
Your room might be ready by then as well.

I've only done three night cruises, I want on the ship ASAP, you don't have a lot to begin with. That changes a tad with the 5-day but knowing my kids they will be up at the crack of dawn to get there! Last time we drove down and stayed just south of Jacksonville for the night. Far enough away from "tourist" read beach prices but close that there wasn't that far to go in the AM. We only had about 2 hours drive the next morning. We were loaded and on the road early, at the pier at 9:30, we couldn't even park the car yet! We were the third car in the lot, I am fairly confident this cruise will be the same!

This group is getting pretty large and chatty. I think the last time I checked in was before our surprise WDW trip in May - I had about 20 pages to catch up on.

We have stayed busy this summer with the kids and our new puppy. We got a labradoodle puppy named Bailey over Memorial Day weekend. We love her but she has been a lot of work. We start school in about 2 1/2 weeks. My oldest is starting 2nd and my little girl is starting Kindergarten. She is beyond excited. :yay:

Anxiously awaiting the opening of WDW reservations for 2011. I am guessing they will be sometime in the next few weeks. I think we are going to try to go to WDW from June 5 - 12 then followed with what I hope is a bit of relaxation on the cruise. Almost 2 full weeks of Disney fun for us. :woohoo: I will probably originally book at Pop Century and then hope for a good discount to upgrade to POFQ. POFQ is our favorite resort and the kids really want to go back there. With this long of a trip and the cost it will have to be with a good discount. We will hopefully be able to hit the 3rd and 4th Star Wars Weekends, do at least one of the waterparks and of course just enjoy our favorites in the main parks.

As far as the cruise we are just excited to see it in person. We are doing an inside room for the first time to check out the virtual portholes. We also are really excited to be going to CC twice. On our last cruise the weather was bad and while we docked the stingray excursion my son had looked forward to for almost a year was cancelled. We are really hoping we can do it this time. My husband and I also hope that for the first time we can get the kids to stay in the kids club for a few hours so we can check out Serenity Bay. :)

Hello,

My husband and I are really looking forward to the cruise. We are planning to stay at the Radisson near the Port but had a quick question. How do you get from the Orlando airport to the hotel? Should we take a taxi, or is there transportation that takes you to those hotels?

Michele

Hi! My name is Sher. We just booked the Dream for the the week of June 12th! We have 14 family members traveling from North and South Carolina! We will be celebrating my twin cousin's high school graduation! My family is especially excited, as it will be our 1st Disney Cruise! I keep seeing FE pictures, and would Love to know more about what it is! I look forward to keeping up with everyone and counting down our days to the BEST VACATION EVER!!!
:yay::yay::yay::yay:

Anniversary dinner done: I fixed Prosciutto and Mozzarella Stuffed Chicken (food network), Canada Le Cellier's sweet corn polenta and for dessert Palo chocolate souffle with vanilla sauce. Everyone seemed to like it. The souffle tasted good, just wasn't quite as fluffy.
