Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Hi everybody,,, just thought I would say Hi. Keep us up and going. I am going on the Magic here in 13 days. Some of our friends want to try the Freedom of the Seas. Maybe , the Canrnival Dream. Anybody been on either of these?
Bill

Hi 3Dan. I have not done Freedom of the Seas or the Carnival Dream (although my mother in law is on the Dream right now). Those other cruise lines do have a lot to offer as far as activities, but I feel they are more focused to adults cruising versus kids. And there just isn't as much "magic" so to speak. But I wouldn't turn down a cruise on either line. I have had great fun on both of them. But while I have younger children, I'll definitely cruise Disney. My only hang up with cruising on the Magic this past year when I compared it to the other lines was just the size of the ship/pools, etc. I am hoping that by being on the Disney Dream in 19 months that the size and newness of the ship will no longer be an issue and Disney will be #1 in my book in all aspects of cruising. But whatever...a day on any cruise better than any regular day at home.

I haven't been on either one, but wanted to tell you to have fun on your cruise! I'm not jealous. Not one little bit. :rotfl: How cool to be on her during the holiday season!

So, do we have any runners on the cruise? I wanted to get up and run the Castaway Cay 5k last cruise I was just so tired after 2 nights on the ship I knew there would be no way I could get up that early, but since CC will be our first port I really want to do it this time, maybe even both times. I'm really out of my running routine, but plan to pick it back up so I can run it and drop all the weight I've gained since being out of work. So anyone want to run/lose some weight with me?

I have to help keep the thread up on page one. I'll fill you in on my itinerary.
Fri, Dec 18, Fly from Indy to Orlando. Arrive 11:30 AM. Magical express to the Wilderness Lodge for a two bedroom dedicated for the five of us. 4PM, enter the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. :cool1::cool1: Midnight,,, souveniers. 2AM , back to the Wilderness. 9AM Saturday, Van transport to the port to board the Disney Magic. 7 Days of Christmas cruising!!!!!!!!! Dec 26,,, disembark for the van to take us to the Animal Kingdom ,,,,Kidani village!!! Dedicated two bedroom savanah view. Monday, Dec 28 fly back to reality and doom and gloom:scared1::scared1:.

Every year, DH says that we should train for one of the marathons at Disney. He's former Army so I'm sure that he would need very little training. However, I'm a sloth and can never make myself do it. Still, if we have a year and a half to make it work, DH might really be able to make some magic happen. I'll mention it to him and see if it's something he would be interested in. :goodvibes

That sounds like so much fun! We actually fly in late on Dec. 26th, staying at the GF. We don't have set plans for the 27th since we will be in late the night before. Our pic is in my sig, though I think we'll be bundled up. If you see us, please stop us to say hello.

We are so excited. We just changed our reservation to this sailing. Originally booked for 10-day Mediterranean, but decided that was too much for kids that weren't excited about seeing old buildings.
This should be alot of fun. This will be our second cruise with DCL. First, was Halloween 2009. Hope to add a couple days on the back end for parks.
We live in a small suburb just outside Des Moines, IA. At time of sailing it will be DH Kevin, me (Teresa), DD 10 Sydney, DS 8 (Ethan).
Will try to catch up on the rest of the postings later.
Right now, we are room 7172.

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!

This time of year is always so busy with work, the holidays, traveling, etc. I'm not surprised that there is little posting here!

Welcome to Teresa and her family!!

Bill, have an awesome time! Your itinerary sounds Heavenly!!!

Marci, you too, have a great time! Enjoy a gingerbread or 2 for me from the Gingerbread house in the GF lobby! It's Delish!!

We are heading back to Cleveland the weekend of the 18th to celebrate Christmas with my family. Steve's parents live just 2 hours from us, so we'll probably drive up Christmas Day to see them. Otherwise, I plan on having a quiet 2 weeks with the boys while they are on break!

No vacations planned for us until Memorial Day weekend, but I could sure use one!

It's been odd weather here....it was 60 yesterday with wind gusts that took off roof shingles at the church, blew a tractor trailer over and took down several trees throughout the community! Today we woke to snow flurries, that didn't stick, thankfully!!! and it is just down right COLD tonight!!! I am ready to get my jammies and climb into bed to watch tv!

I wish all the best of the Holiday Season!!!

Anybody done Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? It looks great, but we have never done a vacation at Christmas before. Thanks for all of the good wishes.

I know what you mean about the weather - - it's been crazy here in Georgia too. I think, though, that we are in for the long haul with a cold spell. We won't get snow (just ice) but the cold just digs deep into your bones making going out so miserable. Brrrrrrr!

We've never done the Christmas party but have done the Halloween party twice. Given that the Halloween party is so amazing, I'm sure that the Christmas party is just as amazing (or more so). We're actually doing Christmas at Disney next year and I'm hoping that we'll be able to go to MVMCP and try it out for the first time. I don't think you can go wrong by doing it. :yay:

So anyone want to run/lose some weight with me?

Not a runner (yet), but definitely in the "need to lose some weight" category. Had great intentions for the last cruise, but never followed through. This time I really want to do the 5k, especially since we are stopping there twice. There was a group last time that walked instead of running, but I opted for a massage that morning instead.

To answer the other question, I'm hoping for a new show. I would love something like the Golden Mickeys, but with a tribute to the shows that have been/are on Broadway. Ethan would love a villian show; he liked the Twice Charmed.

Have a good weekend. I'm going to be out alot this weekend trying to get my shopping done.

Hello all! I'm signing in to catch up and I see you all have been busy! I hope all of you that are traveling soon have a great time. Travel at Christmas is just not possible for us since DH works for the Highway Patrol and time off at the holidays is impossible. Although it does look like we may make it to Nashville for the Music City Bowl - GO TIGERS!! We are almost ready for Christmas, just trying to survive the last week at school!!

Bill,
We have done MVMCP and it's great! :santa: We got there late for the Mickey's Night Before Christmas show, so we ended up standing and the boys were little and couldn't see really well. So get there early. We had our photos taken, watched the parade, had Hot Cocoa and Cookies and watched the snow fall! It was a great evening! It was VERY cold the night we were there! We dressed in layers, but it was still very cold. Have a great time! It's worth being at WDW just to see all the decorations!

It has been so bloomin' cold here! Been waking up to the teens....that's more late Jan - early Feb weather! I had heard that this winter was going to be super cold between the Rockies and the Appalachians. Well, we are on the West Side of the Appalachians, so I guess we are included in that freeze bowl!!!!

Bowl. Football. WVU. WVU is going to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl....maybe we should go! LOL See how easily I am distracted! Sometimes I think Connor gets his ADD from me! LOL But it would be WARM!!! hhhmmmm, might have to do some number crunching!! :teacher:

Time to get my Saturday started! Colton, a freshman in High School, has his first Winter Formal tonight! So exciting! He's going with his best girl. They've been together almost a year now. LOTS of photos will be taken today!

Everyone enjoy the weekend!!!!!

Do we have any creative DISers? Anyone have a creative name for our Cruise or a fun logo design? I would be happy to try to come up with some ideas over the holidays (no time in the next 2 weeks), but I didn't know if others already had this covered.
Anyone ever done shirts or lanyards with their fellow DISers? I thought it was great on the last trip to be able to spot people as we were waiting to board.
Have a great week.

For our last cruise, we actually did customized "Livestrong" bracelets with our cruise name and date on them. They were very cute and were a way to recognize DISers on sight. They were also very cheap...which was another plus. :rotfl:

Hi everyone. The holidays are keeping us busy and off the computer. Which I think is a good thing. Not too much is new. Just wanted to pop on and wish everyone Happy Holidays and/or a Merry Christmas!!! Looking forward to getting to know you all even more in the next year.

Hello All!
Getting ready to head to my parent's for the weekend! We were going to leave Saturday morning, but Mother Nature has decided that WV needs a snow storm! It's suppose to start snowing at 9pm tonight and not stop until Sunday, leaving up to 8" here at the house and 12" in the mountains! The ski resorts will be the place to be this weekend! So, Steve has to work until 9 tonight, then I will pick him up and start our drive. Once I get tired, he'll take over. He's a night owl anyway. It normally takes us 4 hours to drive home, so tonight I expect 4.5 - 5. I'll throw some snacks, water and blankets in the truck, for just in case.(that's the never dying Girl Scout in me!) 8" of snow in this area is crippling. People panic and are afraid to go out. I admit, that's a LOT of snow, but growing up in Cleveland, we see it, we shovel it, we move on! The weather is suppose to get better the further North we drive. We are just trying to get ahead of it!

All that said, Where is my hammock and book on Castaway Cay?? LOL Our very first trip to Castaway Cay was December 21, 2004. <sigh> I wanna go back!!!

We did shirts for our last 2 cruises. The first time, someone made the logo and someone else had shirts made and mailed them to everyone. This last time, someone made up a logo, emailed it to everyone and we printed and ironed them on to our shirts. We actually had a bunch of different iron ons floating around. We had several unique shirts!

Well, I better get off of here and get the day started! Lots to do before we leave!

Have a great weekend!

I did this for our past two cruises too in the lime green DIS color.

I'm one of the founding people on the creative t-shirt thread (now called DDA) but have to confess I don't design. I do make t-shirts and magnets for every WDW or DCL trip, though. If someone has in mind what they want, you can post over on the Creative DISigns board and someone might make it for you. Sorry I can't do it myself!
