Disney Dream Inaugural Cruise 1/26/2011!

Hello everyone! We are booked on the cruise! It will be myself, my DH, and DS 7. Looking forward to catching up on the thread and meeting everyone. Sign us up for the FE!

I am also thinking about booking a b2b. I'll look into it on our next cruise to see what they can offer.

Pre Cruise BBQ, my thoughts, just thinking at this time,

Once we get a count on how many the rest will fall into place.

1. Location will be OKW, (That is where we will be staying) me thinks we will have quite a few folks so thinking about the BBQ area at Hospitality House or Turtle Pond.

2. Lynn and I will provide the burgers and hot dogs, and buns and charcoal
Maybe other could bring chips, salads desert etc etc ect ... Condaments we must not forget, paper plates etc etc..

This should be a fun meet.

Might be a good place to pass out lanyards etc etc...

Thinking about 3:30 start till ?????

This week I bought an Oprah magazine. The back cover has a full page showing The Dream and the kids club. I showed my DD (5) the page. We looked at all the neat stuff and the dress up area. She asked me to tear the cover off and she has been carrying the page around with her. She has now attached it to her scooter and she is riding around with it.

I just had to do it - I called Disney and there are cabins available for the maiden voyage!! We have one on hold until 8pm tonight. Just waiting for DH to come home from work and approve the $$$$.

Please send your good thoughts my way......

Hope it worked out and you'll be joining us on the maiden voyage! (this sounds like something I would do - make the call to DCL then talk to DH!)

Please don't tell Mickey but Mom and I (& two unnamed persons ) are cheating on Mickey....we needed a "Dream" fix...so we are cruising on the Carnival Dream May 1 -8. Not sure what a cruise without Mickey will be like but the price was too good to pass up.

Hi Everyone... we've been MIA for a while. it seems like live goes on in spite of life!

Someone asked about the inaugural cruises and celebrateions/gifts:

Joe and I went on the first sailing of the Disney Magic. They had no activities at the port or as we sailed away. Michael Eisner had already taken his Hollywood friends out for a cruise just prior to the inaugural sailing. We had no gifts in our staterooms (some folks did...). When we departed the ship on the last morning, they did give each person a animated cell of Captain Mickey at the wheel, which was very nice. The cruise had a very rough start, but looking back, it was very exciting to be on the first official sailing!

FE Gifts: I'm not sure how we're doing things on this cruise, but I've always used the master list for my count of gifts. There's no standard rules. Some folks buy for all, others buy a set number and when the supply is gone... that's it. Some just get things for the children, etc. It's always been fun for me to leave a little something on the FEs! On the First Panama Canal crossing cruise, some of us passed things out at our pre sailing meet and greet. That way we didn't spend time running all over the ship trying to find the staterooms. I'm sure with such a short cruise, we will all be off and running trying to explore everything on the new ship!!!
