Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

Hi Everyone! :yay:

Just stopping by to say "Hello!" and wanted to ask if anyone had cruised with Royal Caribbean before? As you probably can see (from my signature) we are cruising next month on the Liberty of the Seas. We are cruising with my husband's entire family! :scared1: And it's over Christmas...so needless to say...I have really been trying to get my ducks in a row! You know Santa has to visit us on this ship also...so packing for that is going to be a nightmare! We usually vacation over Spring Break...so the Easter Bunny has had very good success in finding us there...so Santa should not be a problem...hopefully! ;)

Anyhow...if anyone has any tips or info. involving RCL that would be awesome! :cutie:

I never been at RCI as I booked for April 2011 with Freedom of the Seas...

Perhap you tell me about it after Xmas...

Sounds like a plan! :goodvibes I have done right much research about RCL and I know that my crew will love the ship (my boys are 9 and 12)...they can't wait to rock climb and do the wave machine. So I know that the experience will be tons of fun...I am just so Disney oriented...that not doing Disney is kind of hard...:upsidedow I'm going to miss that mouse while at sea! :sad1:

Hi everyone, we are booked on this cruise too, but I am not sure we will keep the reservation. We were considering the btb with the 7th, but didn't want to put down 2 deposits right now (we are a family of 5). We really want to do a 7 night, so we might need to wait another year and wait for the Fantasy to come out. The price was right on this cruise right now though, so I didn't want to loose it.

Anyway we are me, DH, DD (10), DS (7) and DS (4). This will be our 3rd disney cruise.

pirate: Welcome aboard Michele325! pirate:

There are quite a few on this sailing that are also doing the b2b with the 7th. We were considering it, but my kids want to spend some time at Disney...so we might do that instead. With this cruise so far off in the future...it is kind of hard to figure out the plans...:upsidedow Anywhoo...we're glad that you've joined this board!

Hi All! I was just checking in...we made it through Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping...so it is now on to Christmas and our RCCL cruise! :goodvibes I am getting excited about this cruise...we have never cruised RCCL before and are really looking forward to exploring the ship. The downfall is that we are cruising with my husband's entire family! :scared1: It should be okay...we are really just trying to meet up for dinner and such, however; I did just find out that most of the relatives have decided to do the exact same excursions or beach trips that we are planning on doing...so I guess that we will be seeing quite a bit of each other...I will let you all know how it all turns out! :thumbsup2

I hope that everyone is doing okay! :wizard:

Crystal have a wonderful vacation! And please let us know what you think of RCCL.
Hope you can make some time for yourself away from the relatives, I know what that's like!;)

You got to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in person! :yay: Wow! :yay: What an experience! I have always wanted to venture up to New York for Thanksgiving, but no one else in the family seems interested...so I haven't been yet. It is on my list of to-do's though...:goodvibes

On a side note...my husband attempted to fix an upstairs toilet of ours...yesterday...a tubing came loose...flooded the entire bathroom and started to come onto our bedroom carpet...and then came through the downstairs ceiling in four different places! :scared1: Luckily we caught it before it destroyed our entire downstairs! And thankfully...my husband is pretty handy with dry-wall and such...so fixing things won't be a problem. Although I will have to say...I had to take a step back when he decided to fix the toilet for a second time! :rolleyes1

Anyhow...thought that I would share. This little disaster has cost me precious time of getting ready for our cruise and Christmas. So much to do...so little time! :hourglass

Scottishwee35 - thanks for responding! It has been quiet over here for the past couple of days...:upsidedow I do realize that the cruise is quite some time away...so it is totally understandable how infrequent people will post. :thumbsup2

I just had to check in over here...two days ago I found the Royal Caribbean Meet and Mingle group for my cruise. So we signed up...RCCL does an official meet and mingle...hosted by the cruiseline. I will let you know how it goes. It really kind of feels different posting and chatting a bunch to another board at this time. I really miss the DIS! :sad2: The best part about the DIS is that most of us really have one thing in common...::MickeyMo...over on that other board...I am not so sure about those folks yet??? :goodvibes

Talk with everyone soon!

Enjoy your RCCL cruise Crystal. WIll be interested to hear your feedback (in case i ever decide to work on my infidelities).

Yeah talk about feeling unfaithful...last night I gave the boys the Macy's Mickey Mouse plush...my youngest said, "But we're not going on a Disney cruise," and I said, "I couldn't leave out the mouse!" They totally understand my obsession with Mickey...:goodvibes Well, we leave in four days for Miami and then cruise on Sunday...not much time left...have bunches to do!!! :laundy:

princess: Crystal

We leave tomorrow morning for Miami and then cruise on Sunday. We are packed and excited! :goodvibes

As it's likely to be pretty busy for the coming days and weeks I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all of the April Dream cruisers a very Happy Christmas and New Year. I hope everyone has a really good festive season!

party: Happy New Year! party:

I'm back! It's been a long time since I have posted...between cruising and Christmas and New Year's and painting my house...:scared1: My love for Disney has sort of been put off to the side for awhile. :sad2: Okay now for the low down on my Royal Caribbean cruise aboard the Liberty of the Seas...all I can say is "WOW!" I am going to be hard-pressed to get my crew back on a Disney ship. I am hoping that the new Dream will have many more amenities than the Wonder or the Magic. My crew loved the Liberty of the Seas ship! Here's a small comparison of things that are important to my family...

Embarking:
Disney wins! RCCL was just plain and boring and we had to stand in a long cue line! DCL has a wonderful facility! And boarding is a breeze!

Food:
Disney wins...but not by much. We like the menus aboard DCL ships better especially the dessert options! Also soda is free and very convenient on DCL ships...Soda costs on RCCL and is a pain to get. The buffet on RCCL was great though...huge! Food taste was about the same on both.

Things to do on the ship:
RCCL wins...no question. We ice skated, rock-climbed, surfed, golfed, ping-ponged - all while on the ship! Hopefully the new ship will have some more things to do...like the Aquaduck! Also the pools aboard RCCL were amazing...most had 0 depth entries on all sides and they were huge! The hot tubs were also huge...this doesn't even include the H2O zone...it was great! Again, hopefully the Dream will have better pools...one thing I did miss was the outside movie screen...DCL does a great job with this!

Shows:
DCL wins...the shows are awesome! On RCCL the ice show was excellent...the other shows were horrible! We only sat through a few...they were that bad!

Staff:
Both are great! We set ourselves up to not have high expectations for the RCCL crew...but we were very surprised to find everyone...just like DCL! It was great!

Ports:
Both are great! Again...we were worried about the size of the ship and the number of passengers aboard...about getting on and off at the ports. There was absolutely no problems aboard the RCCL ship...again...it was wonderful!

Debarking:
This one is a tie also...Both cruiselines have different processes and both worked without a problem.

Resolution:
We will be cruising with RCCL again...no question about that. We still, however; will be cruising with DCL also. Now we just have two companies to look at while preparing for vacation!!! :thumbsup2

princess: Crystal
I will post more later...I am still painting!!!

Thanks for posting your review Crystal. We are thinking of cruising with another line when the kids get a bit older to enjoy all that stuff they have onboard.

I just bit the bullet and put a hold on the 3 night cruise after this too. The price is still the same but I don't want to risk loosing it, or the same rooms we are in.
