We just got back from our 4th Disney Cruise on The Dream, 4 night sailing on April 17th. Just as Disney always does...The best in cruising! But I was wondering if anyone else thought the same thing we did...The Magic and Wonder are better ships. The Dream is beautiful from the moment on board but it seemed a little too big and too crowded compared to the Magic and Wonder. I think if you are a first time cruiser on The Dream, you will love it but the Magic and Wonder are a little more intimate. Just my thoughts.

By the way, we booked the 8 night on the Magic out of NYC!

Rick and Denise Krok :dance3:

Magic 8 night - August 2012
Dream 4 night - April 2011
Wonder 4 night - March 2010
Magic 7 night - November 2008
Wonder 3 night - Decemebr 2006

Glad you had a GREAT TIME! :goodvibes

How did you enjoy the food? Which was your favorite restaurant?

Thanks very much!:cool1::thumbsup2

about the Dream I mean... my dd is having a fit to go on the Dream so we are planning a 4 nighter.
I love the Magic... better than the Wonder even though they are sister ships... it sounds like Disney is learning how to roll out a new ship better with this rough opening... and I hear you saying the boat seems so large and hear others say the same sort of vibe... so what did you like the most about the Dream?
my dd wants to make sure they still have free cokes and coffee (the coffee was my request) like they do on the Magic and the Wonder.
Look forward to your feedback! :surfweb:

I just got off the Dream in March and we had a wonderful time but I just can't put my finger on what was differrent than the Magic. I think you said it best. It was more intimate. I'm having such a hard time planning our next cruise now. I can't decide if we should sail on the Magic or the Dream! It's driving me and my family nuts every night :upsidedow

we were on the 4/10 four night, our sixth cruise . . .

agreed, we just like the magic and wonder more. the wonder is our fave. we had a wonderful time and enjoyed remy and the aqua duck, but won't miss them on the magic next year . . .

AquaDuck was fun! When it broke down, the Captain brought us back to Castaway (We were not sad about loosing a day at sea). Palo was wonderful! Animators Palate was cool becasue there were TV monitors and Crush came to talk to the tables. He spoke to me and my Son. The food was great! Was not thrilled about the Royal Palace, seemed limited in choices. Enchanted Garden was not that great. The breaksfast buffet is called Cabana's. The buffet line was good, no omelet station like on the Wonder and Magic! The take out food called Flo's was good. Yes, there is still soda and coffee princess: NO BUFFET at the Pirate party! My Husband was so bummed!!!!!!! He was looking forward to a turkey leg the size of a baseball bat!

I can't wait to have dinner at Palo's! My dd is all about the Aqua Duck. I like to bring my own "special" creamer and get the coffee so I am excited about having that still available. My kids will save money so I can have the DOTD by having the sodas still free! :rotfl2: Thanks again for the info... when are you cruising again??? or did you make plans yet???

I guess I am in the minority here. We previously sailed the Wonder. I didn't really notice any huge difference in crowds. I fell in love with the Dream and could never imagine going back down to the older ships. We booked another Dream and a Fantasy cruise. :thumbsup2

I was on the cruise too and agree that Castaway Cay was even better the second day, it was much less crowded.

But, there was a buffet right after the pirate party ended - it was in Cabanas. Turkey legs, chili, desserts - the whole thing.

I felt the buffet was much better inside cabanas, much easier to get to then when it was poolside. They had some yummy mexican chicken wraps too.

Now I am really bummed! I had no idea abou the buffet in Cabana's. Maybe I will now look at the Fantasy as well. I agree, Castaway was less crowded the second day but we only stayed on the island until lunch since the kids wanted to catch the movies that we would have seen at sea.

We were on that cruise as well. Not impressed with the food at all. In fact, my dh has been going around telling everyone that he had a better meal at the Doubletree Oceanfront on Cocoa Beach before we cruised. I can't argue with him..he's pretty much right.
I also prefer the Wonder to the Dream. The Dream is a gorgeous ship...incredibly beautiful. But it is huge. And the CMs were hard pressed to give the same high level of service that I have come to expect when cruising with Disney. Our restaurant servers seemed frantic most of the time. There was little personal interaction with them...at least until the last night. And then, on disembarkation morning, we had asked to change over to the earlier seating. Nikola told us it would be fine...just arrive 15 mins early so they could find us an empty table with our usual servers. But, another host came along and took us to another table..further away from Ivan and Lisette. They weren't too happy when they found that they weren't serving us our last meal of the cruise. Nikola was a bit peeved that someone else had taken us to a table when he was going to do it. But, stuff happens.

I was sure there were lots of families that were thrilled with the addtl stop at CC. Normally I would have been as well. But...my dh and I were looking forward to brunch at Palo. Something special for our late 20th anniversary. And that got cancelled due to the second day at CC. A lot of unhappy cruisers when that happened. No shops were open, food wasn't great on the ship. It was not a good day for many of us.

And the day before, when we did go to CC, we found it to be way overcrowded. The thing that really annoyed me was to see how much beach was taken up by the private cabanans! Once again, Disney gives you what you want if you pay enough for it. There were few people using that beach area...maybe 4 or 5. All while everyone was crammed into the 'public' beaches. We did an excursion that morning so by the time we got to the beach, there were no seats. We had to hover, and wait until someone left.

I just don't think Disney has the hang of servicing that many people yet. I know they will figure it out though. The really funny thing??? When I sent an email to DCL, telling them of my extreme dissatisfaction with the cancellation of Palo brunch, but that I did enjoy other parts of the cruise...I got a return email stating that they were ' haapy that my granddaughter and I had some good times during the cruise even while being disappointed with some aspects..and that they hoped my granddaughter and I would be back to cruise with DCL again.'
Seriously??? My granddaughter??? Nothing was ever said about a granddaughter. It was myself, my dh and my 17 y/o dd....this grouping was mentioned several times. I really wanted to reply to that email saying that I now understood how some of the problems could occur. They can't even read an email correctly.
Ah well...still love Disney. I will probably cruise with them again but on one of the smaller ships.
