Disney Dream 9/29/2011 3night

Hi Mike and Jodi,

I will be on the 9/25 cruise as well! First time we have done a back to back cruise, really looking forward to it! We decided that four days was just not long enough to enjoy the new ship. I think you and I are the only ones on this thread that are not part of the wedding group!

Not if you crash:rotfl:
Seriously, not sure where this wedding will be - often they are by the Heads-Up Bar and it is such a nice setting.

I didn't think I'd like Alaska either, but it was sooooo beautiful. I'd go again in a heartbeat. And I would LOVE to meet Sarah Palin. But shhhh...:ssst:...
we're not supposed to talk politics on the DIS.

I knew I liked you ..... :goodvibes
WELL she was not to HELPFULL !!!!!!!!!! your are here with me ??????
WAIT I GOT IT ?????????????

you are type A blood YES ??????????????????

garRy

Hehe. If blood type A is for ADD (no H for hyper), then yes. :)

We were struggling with our Spring vacation plans, and Princess won out this time, only due to a better itinerary. Wish DCL would sail out of NYC too!

Do you know how much fun it is to pack for a cruise when driving to the port, and then weighing your luggage ... just for fun!

If I recall correctly, the AD is open at 10:00 each morning. NOt sure when it is open at the POrt, but it was up and running at Sail Away.

And it is fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent! I am hoping they have AD open for our "turnaround" day. What is the new slide at CC called? Is that Pelican Plunge? Or do I have that confused with Holland America's private island? Pay no attention to the short blonde behind the curtain.

We have done a B2B before on HAL's Westerdam, and that was two 7-night cruises. Have to say that was one of my favorite cruises. It is really cool getting off the ship, only to get right back on!

Pelican Plunge is the new slide thing at Castaway Cay. Last summer we were there for another wedding, and I never did get back over there in a swimsuit. I would LOVE to check that one out, too!

What a tough choice.....Pelican Plunge....or champagne and cake at the Cove...... :drinking1...the champagne won!:cutie:

:jumping1:WELCOME *** WELCOME *** WELCOME

This is so exciting to have your first cruise on the DREAM...:cloud9:

You will have so much fun. The ship is soooo pretty.

I was lucky to have already sailed.....so let us know if you have any questions.

Who are you sailing with? I'll keep reading, you might have posted.

I am sailing with my partner and our 2 kids who will be turning 10 and 13 right before the cruise.

I just booked the MCO Hyatt for the night before. We are thinking about booking Spaceport for transportation. We are going to put in our applications for passport cards before the end of the month. I guess that's about all I can do for now.

My family is very excited!

Oh, I actually had that right then, Pelican Plunge. We did it when we were on the WBTA. There were so many adults on that cruise that there was hardly a line for it. The enclosed tube slide is better (faster!). Both are fun though.

Victoria, this is the first cruise for eveyone in your family? How exciting!

yes, first for all of us. I've always been very nervous about taking a cruise due to motion sickness but decided to give it a try. The 3 night is perfect for dipping our toes in to see if we can try for a loner cruise.

Welcome!!!
I remember how worried I was before our first cruise...also a three night.
Now, here I am, 17 cruises later, and still loving it!!

My only complaint about that first 3 night cruise was that it wasn't long enough!! And I hadn't found the DIS yet, so I went in not knowing anything!

On our very first night going out of Port Canaveral, the seas will be a little rough right about dinner time. That's usually when we cross the Gulf Stream. Use a patch if you think you might need one, have ginger ale at dinner....anything to help keep it at bay. But it really shouldn't be bad enough to actually make you seasick. You'll just notice more motion during that time, and then it's over.

Happy Valentine's Day! :lovestruc

Yes, if you are worried about motion sickness, the trick is to take the meds before you need them. By the time you "need" the meds (once you're already queasy), it's too late to take them.

I am prone to motion sickness, and I found my miracle cure is Bonine (after going through a host of other remedies). It is 24-hr, so I take it the night before we travel and then every night thereafter, whether I need it or not. I like to keep it in my system.

I hate to tell you to take something before hand, but my sister did a 4-night cruise with us. She was motion sick the first night and never really recovered for the rest of the cruise. She was just out of it and didn't really enjoy herself. I think on such a short cruise, it is better to be safe than sorry. Stacey is right ... you will feel it the first night at dinner. That is what did my sister in.

Geez, I hope I haven't scared you!

My turn for advice on motion sickness - I get motion sick and I am a diver so that is not a good thing. I think I have tried them all....and unless you are adverse or allergic to medication, I would not rely on ginger, or bands.

There are many products out there but please, please try them before the cruise. Some folks like Bonine, I use Triptone, some use the patch - the ingrediants are a bit different and some folks do better with some rather then others. Some folks have reactions. It is rare but this is your cruise so trying them over the summer - might be a good idea.

My trick is to take one the night before and then one in the morning, if I am on a boat in the morning. You could take one when you wake up and then again around 3:00 -- Most make you very dehydrated so make sure to include lots of water in your schedule. And after we get past the Gulf Stream, it calms down and you may not need another pill, but you may wish to take one at bedtime the first night.

It is really a small thing and makes the cruise much more enjoyable. The ship is so large that you can't feel it move most of the time. Still, it is your cruise so better to be safe.....right?

Hope this helps.

Most of the DIS people probably scrambled to get on the Dream in the first couple of months of sailing.
At least by the time we sail, the crew will be old pros!

Buried on page 5!! :scared1:

With so many cruises and a new ship, there are WAAAAAY more cruise meets threads than ever before.

So.....does anyone have any plans for Nassau??
