DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Dear fellow 5/29 Cruisers,

I am so excited to be coming on this cruise.

We went on one last May also and before we left I found some kids for my DD Allie to chat with and meet before we left. This was a great way for her to connect with people her own age. She is an incredible person but is pretty shy. However she has once again given me permission to connect with some parents that have teenage daughters too that might be interested in getting to know each other before the cruise.

We live in Golden Colorado so it of course would be great to connect with someone here but think it would also be great to meet someone in another state.

I am a pretty protective Mom and monitor Allies activities quiet a bit ( I was a social worker and psychologist before kids so I have seen alot) so I will want to know who she is talking with and where they are from so if you are like me and are interested in helping your daughter make some friends before the trip please contact me!!

I also have another Daughter Jordan who is 8. She would also like to make a friend before we go. She however is a very social child and could make friends with anyone anytime!!!

Hope to hear from you soon!!

Jamie

I am so excited for this cruise! We have been working extra hard lately and can all use a break!

I have questions about my kids. First, I'd love for them to meet some other kids before the cruise, so please email if you have kids of similar ages. They will be 11 and 13 at the time of sailing and they are into video games, Disney, Star Wars, Soccer, Legos, and hanging out with friends and running around playing games like Zombie Tag!

Second, how much freedom to I give them on the cruise? When they were little we checked them into and out of programs but I don't think we will be doing that any more? Have you used 2 way radios? How do you keep contact but still give them freedom? Our cell phones didn't work on our other cruises and I'm not sure how to manage this. I know they are excited to meet others and do their own thing but I want family time too and I do get worried if I don't know approximately where they are. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Whew!! I finally got through all 41 pages of posts. Y'all have been very active. We booked this quite a while back, but I haven't had a chance to post before now, plus it took me a while to catch up.
There will be 6 of us traveling: me, DH (Tim), DD's (Haley and Jordan- both 10) and DS's (Caleb and Noah- both 8). This will be our third Disney cruise. We have done both the eastern and western Caribbean on the Magic and are looking forward to the two stops at Castaway Cay. We are in cabins 7674 and 7676 and would like to participate in the fish extender exchange. We did it last cruise and really enjoyed it.

I think there is a teen thread for our group too, maybe that's good for your older one? My daughter Madison will be 7 on the cruise too!

My DS is 10 and I'm having the same questions with my DH about it. He likes the same things, video games, disney star wars, legos and either tag or star wars. We think he's going to get sign in/sign out privledges. I think there's going to be "Wave" phones onboard, which is new that the kids can call/text us on. Of course there's going to be ground rules, no going into anyone's cabin, call us/let us know every time he goes somewhere else, meet for dinner and family activities... Still working on the list :)

:welcome: aboard. I have added you to the roll call.

OK, I found the gift receipt and I returned this snow right after the holidays. What's going on....:confused3

The Disney daily will be doing a live blog from the Dream on 19-Jan. Here is a link to the short article: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/di...nel-reporters-on-disney-dream-preview-cruise/

Evidently someone regifted the snow. We have more today and even more on the way :(

Well my front steps are literally 'missing'. I should have used that exscuse to call in sick to work - sorry but I can't get out of my house because I have no stairs.
Unfortunatly, i have a garage exit.... It was a HORRIBLE ride in - pure white out conditions. I was on the wrong side of the road at one point. Thankfully, my commute is from one town to the next so no highways!!!!

Now I'm home, going to put on my warm fuzzy jamies, and catch up on DIS posts re: the Dream and think warm sunny little umbrella drink thoughts!!!!

Happy to hear you made it to and from work OK. The news said you got hit pretty hard.

I have the luxury of being able to work from home if necessary. It took me 2 hours to get to work one day last week and I decided I wasn't sitting in traffic again this morning.

Here's to Happy Dreaming (can't take credit for the pic, but I like it):

Has anyone heard any rumors about how often they will offer the Palo brunch on the 5 night? With a ship this size it's going to be hard to get a reservation if it's only on a sea day.

We have been thinking about possibly doing Remi, but since we won't know our dining rotation until we get our key card, I would hate to miss out on one of the restaurants. Decisions, decisions.....

Now THAT looks fantastic!!
Yes, MA got hit pretty hard - my town got approximately 20". Some 15, other's 24 and everything in between!

It's not wet heavy snow in my area but it was closer to Boston and the south shore. I'm on the MA - NH Border so while we got a lot, it was light and 'easy' to clean up (now, this is speaking from a woman who stayed inside and let her husband do all the work with the snow blower!!) :rotfl:

maria-fan-22......

we'd be interested in t-shirts too.....2 adults, 3 kids

thanks!

I am sitting here with my coffee watching the sun rise and thinking about how watching the sun rise has always been one of my favorite things to do on the Magic and Wonder- so early in the morning with only a handful of people on the pool decks, camera's ready to capture the first glow of daylight. I can't wait to have my coffee and be sitting on the Dream watching the sun crest over the ocean.

Not long now folks- it's already the MIDDLE OF JANUARY! :scared1: and a big  !!

We'll likely be doing the Stuart Cove three stop snorkeling trip in Nassau. Anyone else considering it?
