DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Okay - this is funny. I almost grabbed that 7:30 first night Palo but then was afraid I'd miss something that way -- like one of the shows and just the fun of meeting the waiters and all. So I didn't take it. Again, when is formal night and pirate night is the second nigiht??
Thank you all for your welcoming spirit and help!! Never figured out the picture thing tho - sorry.

QUESTION!!!???!!!

Do I need to bring a 'real' button up, collared shirt and tie for 'dress up' night OR can we get away with a short sleve collared polo shirt??

DS is wearing a polo (he's only 7 though) and DD and I will have on sundresses (I'm living in one most nights...) What are you all doing??

I can't remember which night is which but I KNOW someone on here will remember.
If you can figure out how to email a photo of yourself- email it to me (you have my email) and I'll post it for you. :) Then we can all see your beautiful smiling face!!!!!

To question regarding clothing: I'll tell you what I'm doing -- I' m going crazy. I worry about weather, nothing fits. Warning -- sundresses - great - you should always have a sweater with you tho - - at least I think so but I get cold on the ship.
I'm a terrible overpacker so this is a challenge because I want to simplify it. Sundreses are fine - I will have a couple. Something for formal night also. I've seen people get dressed to the nines for this and others just wear a nice outfit. But I'd like to hear imput from others also.

Sandy

Denise -- I can't figure out how to email one either. Since I got this laptop I'm lost on everything. YOu can see me from 2 years ago with my husband on my space but my hair is short now. And I've gained some weight. And I look older and tired. Think you can recognize me now?? :rotfl: If I can get a pic to you I will. I'll let you know. I have nothing of my sister which is ashame.
Sandy

Do I have to bring birth certificates and passports or are the passports enough?

Passports cover everything. No need to carry birth certificates too unless someone in your party doesn't have a passport. (Kids need either passport or birth certificate, but not both.)

Denise - - if you send me a private message I think I just figured out how to send a picture via email - - I hope it works. Sandy

There's not a "formal" night on this cruise...just a "dress up" night...to which I think is open to interpretation. I don't think we're messing with a longsleeved shirt/tie this time around. DH hates them anyways. He's wearing one of his "nicer polos" that night (black, red and white) with black slacks, as opposed to khakis. I figure we'll see a pretty good range of stuff that eve, so whatever melts your butter or makes yer skirt fly up :)

Hope you recovered from your spit iced tea :rotfl:

I think you can get away with almost anything. I wear scrubs most of the time and so does my DH so we will be dressing up. As long as his suit will fit in the suitcase. We have to pack lightly since we are trying to drive our car instead of the Expedition and I have to pack all the FE gifts :rotfl: We usually jump at the chance to dress up since we don't get to do it that often. My girls like to dress up too so they may have on a nice dress or they may be Cinderella, never know!

I do generally overpack a little but I'm really having trouble figuring out shoes this time:

1 - sneaker/ closed walking shoes
2 - sport sandal/open walking shoes
3 - resort casual shoes/ for most dinners
4 - Dress shoes: formal pics/ Palos/ and Victoria & Alberts after cruise
5 - Pirate night footwear
6 - pool shoes

x 2 people is alot of shoes even for 2 weeks of vacation... 12 pairs:headache:

2 pairs of walking shoes is a must, we both get alot less blisters and sore feet by swapping out.

We both change to resort casual for dinner... possibly sports sandals could cover this, but he just got some new loafers that he loves and wants to bring and they do go better...

Dress shoes a must... we get dressed up formally on semi formal night, it's worth it for a year of silence from my MiL on pictures, + dressing up for Palos and V&A after the cruise.

Pirate night footwear... I'm giving serious thought to saying we're wearing sports sandals and be done w/ it - but given we're bringing decent outfits.. <sigh> we'll see...

Pool/beach shoes- these take up so little room there' s not point not to bring em..

gah!

What's everyone else carrying shoewise? I know we didn't bring this much last cruise but I'll be darned if I can figure out what didn't come~

Shoes - we are wearing flip flops and bringing tennis shoes and that's it. I am bringing dressy sandals for myself though.

NOW who needs an intervention?!?! That's a lot of shoes!
We are each wearing our sneakers on our feet for travel, then packing a pair of flip flops each, and dress shoes. I have black strappy wedge sandals taht go with all my dinner outfits, the girls will each have one pair of dress shoes, and DH takes one pair of dress shoes. That's it! They take up too much room otherwise!

Talking to Ottes4 today and we were discussing how much luggage we are checking. My goal is 2 suitcases, which I know I can fit all our stuff in, but I'm going to be close on the 50lb weight limit on them!! Hmmm....!!!

I am packing polo's and a button down for our Palo dinner. That's as dressy as we will be on this trip. I had a tie packed and it went back on the rack..:lmao:

Basically as long as you are comfortable with what you are wearing and doesn't go to far astray from the norm you will be ok. i.e shorts, ripped jeans etc..

<sigh> I wish!

Hubby's home now and we're agreed that pirate costuming can take a hit. So at least we're down 2 pairs there - that leaves 10 pairs - 8 packed. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

We've decided we definitely want to bring down the pool shoes - so we can pack them into our Owners Locker :thumbsup2 so only 6 packed pairs coming back:rotfl:

We'll see but I doubt we'll get it down much more, wish me luck!

I decided to pack an old pair of dress shoes and some clothes for the beach I really don't care about anymore. Just going to trash them before we head home. This way I will have some extra room in the suitcase....:cool1:
