Disney Dream 12/29/2011

So since we will be there on NYE can anyone tell me how most people will dress? Mainly worried about how to dress DH, I'm fine in a dress either way.

My DH will probably be semi-casual...khakis and a nice shirt. I am sure there will be plenty of gentlemen in full dress but my DH won't be one of them. He's done the full dress, reluctantly, and it's hard to put up too much of an argument when there are plenty in khakis and a nice shirt ;) and at least he won't be in shorts.

Does anyone know if there is a separate dining room in Palo like there is on the Magic?
If so, I'd like to get a list of people who would want to do brunch with me and DH and see if my TA can get us a ressie for the room? Anyone game?
I'd be delighted if you want to organize this. If your TA can't arrange it I'd even go with you to see about booking it once we get onboard; I'm sure everyone interested would as well. There are 3 of us.
I think we're also interested in trying to get a group for tea; we've managed this on board before for groups of 8/9. There are 3 of us, Adnil is another 3, so we already have 6. Anyone else?
I would love to. I am traveling with my 11 yr old son who I am sure will be busy.
Do you know if this is only for adults? If so, I'm part of Adnil's 3 :)

Yes, I did include Goofy's_Gal in our Brunch count of 3. I would do a group tea also if the opportunity presented itself!

We really dragged our feet on signing up for this cruise, but we are finally all paid! This will be our third cruise. Our first was last January (2011) on the Magiv and then we sailed the Magic again in June in the Med for our honeymoon!
It will be my husband, Todd (28) and me, Gwen (27) bringing in the New Year on the Dream!

Congrats on your marriage and welcome aboard! Looks like you've got the cruise bug so many of us up here get. 3 in one year is pretty good and what a great way to celebrate your 1st Anniversary!

Yea just got an email from Disney about our flight today. Looks like one layover in GA but we get to Orlando at 11:30. Sounds a little late to arrive but Disney knows what they doing. The only reason I booked the flight with them is beause I want to be stress free.
Just got another email that passports shold be here by this Friday, at least mine and my daughter too bad my husband says its still processing?
Everything is comming together.

One of the good things about booking through Disney is that they will get you there and I've read if your flight is slightly delayed, the ship waits for you! Travel days are also so stressful for me. I do not like being late for anything so I always feel hurried and rushed on travel days. Still plenty of time for dh's passport to arrive. It would be a tough decision for me if my DH didn't have his passport...stay or go...stay or go...:rotfl:

Our dd turns 11 on December 12. I hope they meet up in the clubs!

Hello fellow cruisers.

Well the 90 Day Mark came and went, and I stayed up late (actually I set the alarm and got up at 11:45pm) to sign up for Palo's.

While planning for the event, I kept on going back and forth between booking Palo's and Remy's.

I finally picked Palo's.

The cost of Remy's was a factor (because there would be at least One Bottle of Wine added on to the cost), but the thing that finally made me pick Palo's was that everyone said Remy's would be a 3 hour meal, and I didn't want to spend the whole night eating dinner, and leaving the kids in the clubs.

Other than that, I signed up for a couple of things at Castaway Key.

I am not sure if we will keep all these things, but for right now we signed up for...
The 2 Day Getaway Packagage (1 hour bike rental, all day snorkel gear, and all day float or tube) for both days.
Parasailing - Yikes, not sure if the kids will go for that (has anyone done this before... Has anyone dropped their camera from while in the air?)
Stingray Adventure - We have done this in the past, so it might not be a keeper.

For our Nassua Day, I have booked a day at the Comfort Inn across from Atlantis.
From what I read, this will give us access to the Atlantis water park.
It feels insane to book an expensive room, which we will never use, however, the rate for the Disney - Atlantis anventure is $170 pp, so it is almost twice as much.

I would rather do this through Disney, but not for nearly 700 dollars

We didn't book anything for our sea day.

I'm planning on hitting the fitness center, and then maybe drinks by the pool. Mmmmm... That sounds like it might be too much for one day. I might have to skip the fitness center.

Oh Ya.. Almost forgot "rebooking while on-board"

That's about it for us.

I did post a question on the main cruise forum, asking about my 11 DS going to the Oceaneer Lab, to get dinner with my 10 DD and the group, while we are at Palo's

Atlantis would be an absolute fun day! I haven't had time to research it but I do know that it's cheaper to book directly than through Disney. I would need to look at their cancellation policy just in case....but then, look above...travel is stressful for me:lmao:

The 2 day get-away package sounds like a good one too! I've been to Castaway Cay in December, early December, and it wasn't bad at all weather wise. Hope so for this trip!

I'm working on the FE and will get the newcomers on there. Busy as heck with work these next 2 weeks but try to take some time to keep up with the boards. I may not always respond, but I do read em.

Myself, dh and ds will be on this cruise! We are from Canada, have been to disney world 4 times but this is our first cruise. Hoping to join the FE and am learning tons from this forum. Looking forward to booking some stuff on the 15th! LOVE all the tips so far!!

Welcome aboard...I've added you to roll call and to the FE list. I'll be pm'ing you for more info a little later this month. Glad you are sailing with us!

Pengwend - I've added you also.

Let me know if I've missed anybody for Roll Call or the FE

Adnil: regarding the FE. Is it available for those people on the concierge level? I understand though not sure, that there is a gate that separates the concierge cabins from the rest of the world. Is that so?????:goodvibes

Concierge Level?

Can you squeeze us in your suitcase?

For Fish Extender participant lists - is the list to be updated with more information in case we are doing personalized gifts? It would be helpful to have family name, kids ages, if the cabin is from the same family...Or do you just do gifts and let the cabin sort out who gets what?

How am I supposed to organized my gift giving? :confused3

I just stole this idea from someone else..here's a link to a shared spreadsheet for us all to add our Fish Extender Info :)

Kuyaromeo: you betcha!!! Actually, it's really not worth the money, but health wise I'm hoping for some R&R and treating myself to this. I hope I'm not too disappointed. Last cruise for me!!!:goodvibes

:(

I haven't been able to find any availability at Palo for our cruise when checking today. Missed the opening of the reservation window. There are seats for our first day, but we were hoping to reserve for the 4th day.

Any idea what the chances of seats opening up before the cruise are? Are there always seats made available on the embarkation day? Should I reserve for the first as a back up?

I'm going to try to find out what other Diser's are doing with concierge FE's and hope to find something out today.

Goofys_Gal is setting up a spread sheet on the FE list and we will be refining the list so that the gifts can be age appropriate.

Linda

Okay, after poking around a bit, here is what I have found out about concierge and the FE:

We were Conciege on the Dream's Maiden Voyage, and it is true many times the gates were open or unlocked.... But anyone can knock on the concierge lounge door and give the gifts to a CM and they will pass them out for you IF they are labled with the room numbers They had no problmes with doing this (we asked, lol)

I also have asked the question of someone who sailed last month. Will update soon!

I wouldn't stress over it too much. You can check availability on embarkation day, and be wait listed if what you are hoping for is not available. There are always cancellations.

Ok, I heard back from a Dis member who headed up a FE last month on the Dream. Here is her info:

On one deck we got lucky and the gate to the concierge level was not latched. So we walked right in. For the other deck, we just kind of hung out at the stairs near the gate and waited for someone to walk through. Had we seen a room host on the other side of the gate, we would have flagged them down and explained why we were trying to get in. But, fortunately after a few minutes someone came through the gate and we were able to walk right through.

I don't think that there would be a problem if someone was from concierge and joined the FE. There's the sneakiness of being able to slip through the gates or you can knock on the door of the concierge lounge as suggested above. I have also read that if they are well marked, you can drop off at guest services which may be the best option for those that may be uncomfortable sneaking through the gates.

I would not have a problem doing any of these things. I would enjoy the challenge! :rotfl:

AussieAussieAussie is concierge also so we are making the trip up there anyways. Just let me know.:)

Hi All,

If you are on the FE list, you should have received a PM from me tonight. We are firming up the FE list. There are certain bits of criteria that are needed to make FE gifts for everyone in your stateroom. If you have received the PM, please have a look at the info that I have on file. We are missing the stateroom numbers for about 2/3 rds of the participants and the ages of the children. The stateroom number is important for obvious reasons...you don't get any gifts if you don't have a stateroom number. The ages of the children are important also as some people do one gift per stateroom and some do one per person. A girly pair of earrings may not go over too well with a 17 year old young man. Provide what info you can so that gifts can be age appropriate.

If you did not receive a PM from me tonight, I missed your sign up and you are not on the FE List. Accept my apologies but know that we would love to have you join/rejoin. You can post here or PM me and I will add you.

The cut off for the FE will be 12/1/2011. This will give everyone plenty of time to sign up and get a FE gift together before the cruise.

Let me know if there are any questions!

Linda

Happy Anniversary! 14 years...that is awesome. Our daughter Laura will turn 11 just before we cruise (12/12/00). I hope she and Lauren become fast friends. :lovestruc

I've also received PMs from several other dis families. Thank you very much. I'll give it a few days for families to respond to the PM and will post an updated FE list on the link I provided to you all.

Thanks again all!

Linda

We're still patiently waiting for our room number. I can't wait to find to what it is... patience is not one of my virtues unfortunately.

If anyone is interested in Palo brunch as a DIS group, please PM me with your reservation number and name of those attending. I'll fax to Inventory control to see if we can get the room.

Thanks Laurie! I just sent you a PM. I appreciate your taking this on. I hope they can do a :wizard:special room for us!
