Disney Dream 12/29/2011

Hello All. Thanks to my parents my DH and I will be on this cruise with them. I don't know much about it other then There are reservations that I already have and I am staying up till midnight tonight to make mine. Hope everyone who will be doing the same thing has a good night and I will see you online tonight!

Welcome aboard! I've added you to the roll call.

HI everyone,

So excited to sail soon! We are Gold castaway members and get to book excursions, etc tomorrow. Is it 12:00a.m. on the 15th (EST)? Does anyone know for sure the time?

Thanks all!

Hi Northerngirl! I've added you to roll call. Hope you don't mind. :)

as some of you may remember I posted in May that our cruise plans were in sort of a stand still after the loss of my motherinlaw........ in August we also lost my husbands sister to her battle with cancer ...... it has really been a year ! but decisions have finally been made and.......... Disney Dream here we come ! just made the final payment today passports arrived as well airfare is booked the jury is still out as to whether we can afford the extra days at the parks when we return but cruise plans are ON ! my fatherinlaw did decide to cancel and instead go to CA to spend the time with my sisterinlaws family after we spend Christmas together ( and we may get flames for not joining him but honestly my DH , DD and myself really need this break by ourselves not just due to the loss but with all the other curves life continues to throw at us . we also have two adult sons who both have children that we are helping to care for plus caring for my fatherinlaw we are a bit STRESSED) so in 102 days I am looking forward to going down the slide, playing at Atlantis and looking for Casey the cat on Castaway Cay. :woohoo:

Glad you are able to join use! I understand about FIL. Come sail away and let go of that STRESS.

can we be added to the fish extender exchange...2 adults one teen (13)? ty very much :)

Done:thumbsup2

I do believe rooms can make requests to sit together . . . and they will do their best to accommodate. We are at the late seating, as we prefer it due to all of the food . . . seems like you wake up and eat, then you blink and it's lunch and then you blink and dinner time.

We find that we best enjoy dinner at the later seating, after the theater show . . gives us time to get hungry again. Somewhat due to us being late risers hahah. Tough to start your day at 10:00 am and fit in breakfast, lunch and dinner all by 7pm.

I LOVE late dining. We are in California and I don't want to eat until the sun has set not matter what coast we are on.

Hello there,

I just saw your post.
We'll be there.

Don, Marie and grown up daughters Laura and Diane.

Welcome aboard! I've added you to Roll Call. Glad to know you are sailing with us :)

Is there a fe list for this cruise yet?? It is going to be super fun! I cannot wait! We will be celebrating my hubby's 40th on the 31st!!

I know a few of you have been on NYE cruises before. Is there a special menu that night that is not to be missed or are we ok going to Palo?

Hi Cindy Girl. I've added you to the FE list. Hubby's 40th on the 31st? What a way to bring in the New Year!

Paid in full last night and just made our Palo reservations for dinner (really wanted brunch, but I guess we will have to try our luck when we board)!!!! :cool1: This is going to be our first time at Palo (yes, finally on our
5th sailing) so I am looking forward to it. Now I just have to figure out if I want to really splurge and try out the spa.

We have decided to fly in the night before and are staying at the MCO Hyatt.

See you all in 89 days!!!!!!:banana:

We haven't made any ressies yet. I LOVE Palo Brunch so we will have to sign up on board and hope that something opens up. I was lucky enough to get Palo Tea last cruise. It was not my hubby's cup of tea though and not really mine either. I'd like to try some new spa stuff though. We've done the couples massage a few times and finally did the Exotic Rasul on our last cruise. It's my understanding that it is not available on the Dream:sad2: Oh well, I'm sure I will find something to do, lol!

Stayed up late last night to make my ressies and got everything we wanted; although why I bothered, I do not know -- everything was still available this morning!

We're doing Palo on the first night, although I do hope to change that once we board. First nights out are always a bit iffy with adjusting to the sea currents. Brunch and Tea ressies are locked out so hope to arrange that on board. I will cry if I can't get Brunch. Love those salmon mousse spoons, the muesli and those pizzas! I know, very weird combination.

We're booked at Remy for New Year's Eve. So excited. I couldn't believe there was even availability for Remy at all, let alone on that night. Yay!

Port arrival earliest opening was 11am. Will they arrest us if we get there earlier? This is the first time we've encountered the port arrival time booking. If anyone is there earlier, let's meet up and go in on your early card. :worship:

Lol. Brunch....like you.... I WANT A BRUNCH RESSIE! Maybe we can meet up and dry our tears together. Glad you are excited for Remy ressies too!

Port arrival... I know there is much controversy over this one. I am going to do what I do and that is arrive early. I love the excitement and anticipation of being in the terminal. I would be a nervous wreck being any where other than at the port early on the day of departure. DH would be glad to be anywhere else. He will try to entice me with a nice breakfast somewhere near or some local shopping. Probably won't work...but maybe:laughing:

Love reading about everyone's previous experiences on the New Year's Cruises. I am so looking forward to this cruise over New Years. It is going to be awesome.

I wonder if this will work -- I know it has worked twice now for tea.

If a bunch of us go together when we first board the ship to book brunch; if there are no openings, maybe we can secure one big table together.

We've done that with Disboards groups twice now for tea (WE WANT TEA, TOO!), and it's worked a treat -- they give us the big circular area in the middle of the room (that won't work for brunch as they use the area). But perhaps they'll section of a part of Palo for us brunchers.

I know I can't wait to get our diner rotations. We have our Palo on Dec 30th. but if that is animators night i'm changing it.

If you change it, please let me know; we'd much have preferred to do Palo on the 30th. As it is, we have the 29th, first night out.

When do you usually get dining rotations? I know my son will stay up until midnight on NYE. Can I get a cake or something to wish him a Happy Birthday at midnight?

we are checked in too we did get a Palo res for the last night (early so we don't miss evening stuff like we did before ) hoping that we will have done all the regular retsaurants by then but if not we may cancel also booked Atlantis ( have been watching the comfort suites but with it being NYE the prices are no real savings when you add the convience of lunch and trans included ) we are planning on seeing the stingsrays on day 2 of Castaway Cay but getting snorkel equiment for both 86 days please hurry !!!:cool1:

I'm game! Can you keep a list and what time do we want to meet :thumbsup2

There would be 3 of us.

DAPford we were looking for a deal for the Atlantis but havent found anything
yet. what is the deal with lunch & transfer?

comfort suites from AAA was around $324.

Anyone else book the comfort suites or Atlantis ?

Harlemgirl , we are very close to your room if not right next door. I have to check our room # again (10164). I read that above us is the chairs for the aft sun deck and they said it will be noisey from the chairs being moved around. They suggest to move down one deck, but i know its late to try to move decks now. I guess no sleeping in late for us. :rotfl:

Can't make any ressies until 10/15. :(. Hoping there will be some Remy ressies left. been to Palo a few times. Come on 10/15 !!!

Sue l they have plenty of dinning time for Remy ($75 pp) 1 time left for Palo NYE night,

My cousin is going on the Dream on Thursday. Its a 3 nighter but should be great. Son turns 4 and he has no idea he is going.

Yep its too late now but who cares? I think by time I had a few glasses of wine, I will not be able to hear anything.:lmao:

For the person who wants to know about Country Inn and Suites, it is a very nice hotel. We haven't been there for about 2 years. The rooms for the kid suites are very large. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and more than just continental.

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

WDWstar -
the regular rate for Comfort suites ( I am not an AAA member ) is 361 plus all the extra fees and we are only 3 people when I did the math the savings would be so minimal and booking it thru Disney includes Lunch and Transportation I would have to look at my notes but for the small savings we decided it was not worth the hassle of doing trans and lunch on own and stressing about missing the ship ( I tend to be a worrywart ) this is suppose to be a stress free vaca for me :rotfl2:

Hello all!

Joining this group rather late as usual. We are the Gold Family from Vancouver, Canada and this will be our 11th(ish) cruise with the DCL!

DisneyDad (55)
DisneyMom (56)
DD (24)
DD (22)

Hope to spend some time in this board in the future and get to know you all!

I agree with Dapford re: cost of travel to Atlantis. It's much safer all the way around to stick with DCL.:goodvibes

We are two doors away from one another.:lmao::banana:

Well I caved in and paid for airfare. 732.00 for two tickets. ouch!!! Added a night too. So now I am leaving on the night of the 22nd. So I should have more than enough time to get to Orlando in case of snow. LOL

Previous poster: you will not be sorry that you caved. Some deck chair noise is not so bad. You'll want to be up anyway.:goodvibes
