Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

that's why I love DLR so much, it is so easy to get around!

we've stayed off site most of our trips, have stayed at all three of the "Disney" resorts though at different times over the years.
we lived about an hour away for 18 months so went at least once a month for the day which was a lot of fun!

Megan does like surprises, just hard to do it sometimes, I think she can sense when I'm planning something.

we've been there before on Pres Day, Spring Break, Thanksgiving and yes is crowded, but guess since we've gone somuch if we miss something, know we'll do it again soon.

You are so right about that.:goodvibes

Back in the early 80's we stayed at a Best Western. We walked right across the street to DL, right under the monorail track and through a parking lot. I heard that's changed since then though. My mom had been to DL as a child and adult, so I'm sure she thought it was just like that in FL.

At WDW, you can walk to Epcot and DHS from the YC, BC, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin. To MK from the Contemporary. Other than that, you need transportation.

Oh wow!! Then you haven't seen DCA or DTD? When I went again after not being there since the early 90's I was totally shocked. The entire area has changed. I will find a good trip report with lots of photos to give you a link to so you can see the big changes.

the hotel is still there.....the parking lot is now California Adventure!

yay for a better dinner at PM....maybe there were other complaints so they stepped up their attitude!

Monday we woke up and quickly packed the car so that Anakin could go on the water slide before we went home.

We made it to the Dig Site in plenty of time and were able to catch the opening ceremony for the water.

With the water running down the pyramid, the water slide opened, and the tikis started spitting.

We swam until noon. Changed into clothing and got a bit to eat at Siestas.

That was some good tasting, artery clogging, fried food. Even the wild life couldn't resist it. Pesty, bold squirrel. It's not just the birds at Disney to beware of!!

That ends our wonderful weekend at CSR, but certainly not our WDW fun! Up next, Labor Day Weekend...MK Saturday and AK Sunday.

Oh that all looks so good!! Nothing like good old comfort food.:rotfl:

Do you think she senses something now?

I understand that. We only rode three attractions on Saturday at MK, and don't feel like we missed out on anything.

Nope, haven't seen DCA or DTD. Once I bought a planning book for a DLR vacation, read it cover to cover.

Well now I have a really good understanding of the layout!

I'm sure there were other complaints. Remember the hamburger girl from day 1? I'm sure she complained. She was royally ticked off at the cm.

The nachos were very good. But the thing that surprised me the most was that the water at CSR tasted good. Florida water is horrible. There is so much sulfur and chlorine in it, that it usually tastes like aweful. But as you can see, we were all drinking water. They must use a filter or something?

Goo is totally entranced with Anakin and his Jedi training...guess what has bumped TSM from the #1 thing in DHS?:rotfl:

When I was in Disneyland on Presidents Day we rode only one ride. That was the Monorail from DTD, then in the parks we just did sight seeing. It was fun. I forgot my Duffy in the hotel though so I missed a few picture opportunities. Darn it. I did not make that mistake again. I spent most of my time getting Duffy pictures for my great nephew. Duffy had a blast on my trip!!

I have noticed that at the resorts the water tastes good. In Disneyland and DCA the water fountains are horrible!! I spend tins of money on water unless I bring bottles of water to the park.

At the mention of nachos I wanted to show you these. I got them at White Water Snacks in the Grand California Hotel. Quite possibly my favorite meal that trip.

Thanks for the link! I will check it out! I had a few friends that went out to the D23 Expo the other week. I lived vicariously through their status updates on facebook!

Oh do. I hope you enjoy it.

I love guacamole!!!!! Those nachos would be wonderful!! The Pepper Market has amazing guacamole!!

I love fresh guacamole!! To me that makes it. We ate at Tortilla Jo's and did their take out. There guacamole was just okay. I was sorely disappointed after the nachos from WWS. I am putting the Pepper Market on my place of must dos for the nachos.

no she doesn't suspect anything :cool1:
love bar food....need grease!!!

It was great meeting you! I will have so many pictures for you once I get the photopass cd. I also took a bunch of Grace during the show, I just didn't know how you felt about having me post them, so I didn't. I still have your email, and will get those pics to you.

Anakin said it was a bit unnerving getting up there.

I hope you hear all good results from her 24 hr EEG. How did she do without seizure meds the whole time at Disney? It was super hot that weekend we met you. It was a bit less humid and cooler this weekend. 90 degrees as opposed to 96. He did much better this weekend!

I'll be watching for the pictures. I'm sure Grace will love to see them. Hopefully after I take the "first day of school photos" in the morning I'll get them and my vacation photos loaded on the to computer and I'll be able to send you any of the ones I have of Anikan, too.

Grace didn't do too badly at Disney. There were a few small seizures every day, but that's normal. One of the big seizure triggers for her is fatigue so we tried to keep her in the stroller as much as possible and keep close to her normal bedtimes. Someday we might be able to see the fireworks and nighttime shows at Disney, but it won't be any time soon. :) The heat was rough, but we got to the parks early and spent a lot of the afternoons watching shows in the air conditioning and then left in time for an early dinner. The frozen lemonades also helped to cool her down and keep her hydrated during the day.

Of course we came home to temperatures that were in the low 60s today. Quite a change from the Florida weather. The girls already want to go back.

I'm sorry, I didn't see your comment earlier! Goo will LOVE it!!! If you split up, someone can grab a FP for everyone at TSM, then meet up with you at Jedi Training. They said to allow up to 2 hours for photopass pics to show up. Just take your photopass and have them download the pics of the show you want to keep.

Darth Vader is very tall and intimidating. Anakin is always afraid to do meet and greets with him or Darth Maul during SSW. He was still afraid at Jedi Training, but he said he knew he wins at the light saber, lol!

Yes, definately needs to be fresh and home made!! All Star Movies has killer gaucamole too!! Got the chicken quesadilla there and it comes with gaucamole. They also have a guacamole burger, but I'm not much of a thick burger fan. I prefer thin McDonald burgers you don't have to really chew, though I can't remember the last time I had a burger there. For lunch today, I ate half of JJ's kid burger from Steak n Shake.

no she doesn't suspect anything :cool1:

You might love the food at the River's Roost at POR!!!!! They have great loaded nachos there! The french onion soup is good too! And I get 20% off there with my TIW card!!

We spend alot of time at QS restaurants and shops cooling off. Heat is a trigger for Anakin. He has been doing really well. He had 2 really little seizures the last 2 nights, but nothing between Aug 18 and Sept 3!! What a difference it makes when there is none in the picture!!

BBBRRRRRRRRR 60 degrees is winter here!! I'd be wearing a winter coat!! I'm cold at 75!

Do you have plans for a return trip in the future?

MMmmm....I LOVE guacamole! That will be a must-do for my PM meals:goodvibes

I had to laugh at the squirrel taking food. Just like chipmunks, they are so cute but do such naughty things.

We are all looking forward to that pool slide. Looks like so much fun.

Were there any sand fleas or did they get those all cleared out of the Dig Site play area?

This Labor Day weekend we had hoped to meet up with bouncycat from the DIS and another friend from another board. What are the chances that they were both at the same place at the same time?! And at the same attraction?!!!

Let me backtrack to our arrival to the MK. The first thing to catch our eye was the Halloween decorations. It's amazing how different the entrance to MK looked!! I texted both groups of people when we arrived. One group was at Philharmagic, the other in tomorrowland.

The trolley show had just started as we began attempting to walk down Main St. so we stopped and watched it. There was a little girl dressed just like the show people, who knew every dance step to the whole show. She danced on the sidewalk. She had her own props and everything.

The next text I received was from Bouncycat that they were in the arcade at Space Mountain. Almost at the exact same time, I got a text that the other party was just getting on Space Mountain. Told both groups, we would head there.

I spotted Bouncycat and company right away and waved. The other family, I did not see. I was looking for a pink Minnie shirt. I saw a woman with a pink shirt but her back was to me and she was on the phone. I finally realized this was her and she was on the phone with me, trying to find me. For Bouncycat's family and ours, there is no rush. But for the other family, this was their once a year vacation and they were in commando mode. So we had to step it up, but I know we held them back.

We all made our way to Buzz. Goofy got his first ever 999,999 score on the attraction!! Congrats Goofy!!

Next up was TTA/People mover

2011-09-03017.jpg

A run for a smoothie at Aunt Gravity's was a must. I got a capaccino smoothy and got Goofy an orange/pineapple one.

With smoothie in hand, we headed to the Haunted Mansion. Our commando friends went in the fast line and we went in the interactive line. This was our first time seeing the new additions!!! They were wonderful!! Anakin loved them, but there was no way we could get him in the HM.

Anakin would not go in the HM, so he pin traded while we waited for our commando friends to get off the ride.

2011-09-03035.jpg

Bouncycat and co rode the attraction then headed to Pecos Bills. We spent a little more time with our other friends, then went on search of chicken nuggets for Anakin. They do not have them at Pecos Bills. Columbia Harbour House was packed. We ended up at cosmic rays.

Goofy and I shared the 1/2 Rotisserie chicken. Anakin got chicken nuggets. He was thrilled with how long the french fries were.

2011-09-03036.jpg

I got the mango no sugar added gelato

2011-09-03037.jpg

The first few bites were great. But then it got sickening and I couldn't finish it. Goofy took a taste and didn't like it, and Anakin said it smelled funny and wouldn't taste it.

2011-09-03039.jpg

Our commando friends had left the park and headed out to another park. Bouncycat was at Pirates. We decided to meet at Splash Mountain. Passed this along the way there.

2011-09-03040.jpg

All 8 of us filled a boat! It was a fun ride!

Woody and Jesse were at the exit. We got in line for them while Goofy brought Anakin's stroller. It's a good thing he did, the wait was LONG. Just after we got in line, they closed the queue, so we had just made it!! Everybody but Anakin and I went on Big Thunder Mountain while we waited for Woody and Jesse. They finished their ride before we even had our turn with the characters. Goofy hopped in line with us, and they headed out of the park.

2011-09-03041.jpg

Our last stop for the day was Adventureland to see Tink! This was more for me than anyone else, but Anakin is brainwashed that Tink is great. There are pictures of her around our house, blankets, Christmas decorations and ornaments, cookie jars, etc. When they are on Disney channel, he will watch the movies with me, and enjoys it. We got in the queue and he noticed it was all girls. He asked me why boys don't like Tink.

The queue and M&G are indoors in the air conditioning. It is a great place to cool off!! There is a tv with clips from the Tink movies playing.

2011-09-03044.jpg

There were many people in the queue.

Room to make the queue longer if necessary. This must have been a restaurant at some point. Does anyone remember the name of it?

Then you will love the guacamole at PM!!

The pool is awesome!! One of the best on property!!

Anakin got bit by sand fleas in March. We did not see any this time!!

What we did see, but I couldn't get pics of them were blue tailed skinks. Saw them every time we went on the water slide. They must have been looking for water. There were also plenty of annole lizards too. Every night walking from the Dig Site to the Casitas we heard a symphony of frogs.

Tink is outside at Disneyland. Her and the rest of the Pixies. Last year in June I waited in line there for over an hour so that our then 16 year old daughter could get autographs on a map for a male friend of hers. It was so hot I swore I would never do it again. When we went in February I decided to do it again so that I could get some photos of Duffy. I did. I love the theming of that area so much. I would do it again.:goodvibes

we love french onion soup, will give it a try!

great photos of Tink's new home!

happy you got to meet up with the other DIS families and had fun in the HM queue!
